Waist of time ### 3/5 — FIX IT PLEASE!!! *2025-02-05, version 2.11.0* when i go in and type my email and password as usual, it keeps saying the data can’t be read as it’s “missing” and i’m literally thinking this “I FILLED IT IN HOW IS IT MISSING?!” and then it stays on a loading screen with the bar not filling up and i can’t be there ALL day. please, make the waiting time shorter and remove that thing please!!! it annoys me ### 2/5 — App issues *2024-09-09* I am trying to use the app for my 3 kids however I can’t get the app to switch profiles without it closing on me. It will synch to the website and back, and will work offline. I just wish I could have profiles for different students instead of having to log out and log each child individually. I already touch type but wanted to improve my accuracy. There is lots of support and teaching offered through the provider once you subscribe with a focus on ways to support dyslexic students. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Do not use an iPad with TTRS! *2025-02-10* This app is completely worthless on an iPad. I downloaded it and uninstalled it, tried logging in for so long, did system updates. Customer service was at a loss. I bought a new iPad just in case, nope. Finally, I got a Chromebook and use the web version and it works just fine. Only use the web version, I’ve wasted month on trying. And I have a Chromebook just for TTRS. I should have just gotten a different program. ### 1/5 — Sign in versus sign up *2024-12-20* I downloaded the app to help me touch up on my typing skills, but after the app downloaded, it asked me to sign in rather than create an account or sign up or join. It just asked me to sign in, and when I signed in and said there was some sort of error And asked for some sort of log something and it was stuck,frozen, and I had to force a close. My students do not appear, tho I do have the option of adding other people’s students. I wonder if other people have the option of adding my students. This is frightening! ### 1/5 — They easily take my money. *2023-03-24* They easily took my money but with no way of accessing the program. No way of setting up login or any other form of access. Please email support@readandspell.com with your email and the team will get back to you. ### 1/5 — Cannot log into app; contacting company accomplishes nothing *2022-12-08* I signed up for TTRS and haven’t had a problem logging into the web based version. However, I decided to download the app as well, and that is where my problems began. Every time I try to log in, I am greeted with the error: “The data couldn’t be read because it is not in the correct format.” I use the same info from keychain for the web and app, and can log in on the former, but not the latter. Clicking on “trouble logging on,” only sends me an email with instructions on changing my password, which I’ve done several times, to no avail. I finally decided to contact the company for help, explaining my issue to them, and have only received more emails directing me to change my password 🤦🏽‍♀️ One even went ahead and changed my password for me, which, surprise surprise, worked on the web, but not in the app. So, at this point, the app is dead to me, and I’ll be uninstalling and will just have my kids use the web version. Just wanted anyone else who is having the same problem know that they are not alone and that no help will be forthcoming. **Developer response:** We are sorry to hear that you had this issue, which has since been fixed. When you get something wrong it deletes your progress. We’ve deleted and downloaded it again, made sure it’s up-to-date, and tried on multiple tablets but it won’t work. Then they try to log on the website and their progress hasn’t been saved and it makes them start over each time. It has the potential to be good, but at this point I can’t in good conscience give this a good review. **Developer response:** Please could you download the latest update which should fix this issue. This program is doing a nice job of meeting each of them where they are. ### 5/5 — TTRS and Dyslexia/Dysgraphia *2021-05-29* This app is easy to use for my 9 year old, he has dyslexia and dysgraphia, this program is helping him with both he repeats words, so he memorize and he is learning where the letters of the keyboard are, for him is becoming easy the keyboard. Some times he practice for 5 minutes or he can practice for 15, that’s another reason he can do it without problems, he knows the modules are shorts, so far the app has been working and my kid is happy to practice. ### 5/5 — The best app *2021-05-20, version 2.7.1* My son used the app at the age 8. His touch typing skill is super. Now I have decided to use myself. it improves not only touch-typing skills but I also my spelling and the most importantly my English pronunciation as I am not a native speaker. I like that it sounds the words loud in both female and male voice. I try to repeat words loud while typing. ### 5/5 — Great Program *2021-04-20* My daughter has many learning difficulties. She has auditory processing disorder. This program is great for her. Listening,following directions, helping with paying attention. Yes it seems repetitive and challenging but that’s what she needs. I’m very happy with this program. ### 5/5 — Great fit for my Dyslexic kiddo! *2021-04-09* I knew that the typing program I used for my non-Dyslexic kiddo would not work for my son, who has moderate to severe, double-deficit Dyslexia. Most programs go too fast, too soon, for him, and the words used would make it inaccessible to him as well—never mind the anxiety that the timed test would give. While I do not believe that TTRS lives up to its claim to “teach spelling,” it does reinforce what he is learning during our Orton-Gillingham lessons, aiding in the orthographic mapping process. (We use the Barton Reading & Spelling System, and I have listed the way its progression corresponds to TTRS on my public Facebook page: Light Bulb Moments Tutoring.) I love the repetition, multi-sensory input (including visual and auditory cues), and ease of use. My son is able to do this independently and with great success. The price was a bit off-putting, but we purchased it at a discounted price during a holiday sale. My 10-year-old son has been doing 4 lessons per day, 4 days per week, which should allow him to complete the program during our 1-year subscription. (He should be finishing Barton Level 5 by then, making most words in TTRS accessible to him as well.) We did have some technical difficulties at first, but customer service was very thorough and helpful.
