Use it with many of my students. I find the Engage SS games great for practice. And I love the ability to have multiple sets of different vocabularies on the same device. A good feature to add would be the ability to edit more than one button at a time (like being able to change multiple buttons to the same background color or font). My only complaint is I got a new iPad and when I purchased and downloaded TouchChat there is a strange white line at the bottom of all my communication boards. It is also on the sides of the display bar when I change the color to something other than white. Toggling on/off key guard inset did not help. I have been through every setting on my iPad and TouchChat. Does anyone else have this issue? Is there something I need to do to make it disappear? ### 2/5 — Great but with bugs. *2025-11-01* My artistic son has used TouchChat with word power for several years. It is a robust, customizable, and user-friendly AAC option that has given our son a voice and a platform to share his voice on. However, recent iPad and app updates have left many bugs. Since the most recent iPad update, the app stops working. It’s opened, but when you press the icons nothing happens, leaving my son, the user, frustrated. When this happens, we have to delete the app, reinstall it, an import his customizable file. We have had to do this several times, and although simple, it is time-consuming, frustrating, and disheartening… Because it is another thing that is harder in our lives. **Developer response:** We are sorry to hear the app is giving leaving you and your son frustrated. Trying to figure out how to use it is very difficult. Not being an Apple user makes it worse. After finding the website, the links to support documentation are dead, 404 returns. Even once you find some support docs they are not really a layman, or user’s guide. Seems like a nice app but is basically a waste of money if you want to really figure it out and use its potential. **Developer response:** Hi, thank you for your feedback. This gives a comprehensive guide in easy-to-understand language to make your experience with the app more successful. If you have further questions, please reach out to us over email: touchchat@aacapps.com ### 3/5 — Meh *2024-11-24* This app is fine. I use it on the recommendation of my speech therapist. I started out with the free trial, then upgraded to the full $300 version. However, it downloaded a whole new program when I got the full version and I don’t see a way to transfer my custom vocabulary to the new app. That’s very frustrating that I am starting over from scratch now. It also appears that if I switch vocabularies (like to a larger grid, for instance) I will have to re-customize everything AGAIN. If there were more compatibility feature, I would give it a higher rating. **Developer response:** Hi there. If you upgraded your TouchChat Discover app, it would not have been a completely separate app and would've maintained your custom vocabulary. It sounds like you purchased a separate app in the App Store. Lots of variety to meet student needs especially with Word Power. I have over 100 clients using TC with Word Power. Very user friendly and versatile. ### 5/5 — By far the best AAC app *2019-04-22* TouchChat with word power is versatile and very intuitive. Every single teacher of students using it love it because it is easy to find icon locations and very little programming is needed because the vocabulary layout mimics naturally occurring speech. So much easier to use than Proloquo2Go. My students are initiating so much more communication with TouchChat. ### 4/5 — No sound now *2019-02-27* Has anyone else lost sound? After this latest round of iOS operating system updates we have NO sound. Please consider making the orange bar disappear or thinner for those who want to hide the [Vocab] and [Menu] buttons. The bar occupies valuable real estate, especially for those using the app on an iPhone. Also, the Real Language logging icon is distracting as it takes up too much space on the speech display area. We started teaching him to communicate with pecs cards. However as his vocabulary grew, his binder became too large to carry everywhere. We tried several different AAC applications, and found our son likes TouchChat the best. When testing with another application, our son realized his device was unlocked and actually changed his app back to TouchChat. We love TouchChat because it’s very user friendly, plus they have a lot of guides on their website. **Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback. We wish your son continued success! ### 5/5 — Guided Access freezing TouchChatHWP *2023-11-12* This app is great, as it gives my daughter a voice. A problem we’ve been experiencing recently is that when Guided Access is used, the entire app freezes and her voice no longer works, nor can she move from page to page. When out of Guided access the app works fine. If Guided Access is not used, she goes to other apps and doesn’t use her AAC device appropriately (as she doesn’t understand that her AAC is only meant to be used for communicating). Any help would be appreciated! **Developer response:** Hi there. Unfortunately, this is a Guided Access bug that Apple is aware of.
