## What is TouchNow Remote?

Stream your Mac to your iPhone or iPad and control it with touch — play Mac games, work remotely, or fix a family member's computer.

A FULL MACBOOK KEYBOARD
Esc, F1–F12, arrow keys, ⌘⌥⌃⇧ combinations and caps lock. The iOS keyboard can't send a single one of these, and they're exactly what you need when driving a Mac. Modifiers are sticky, so combos work one-handed.

THREE CONTROL MODES
• Game mode: fully customizable virtual gamepad + physical controller support
• Trackpad mode: the whole screen becomes a precise trackpad, with a cursor loupe
• Direct touch: tap exactly where you want, zero learning curve

BUILT FOR PLAY
• End-to-end latency pushed to the physical limit (~8ms round trip on LAN)
• 1080p 60fps streaming, HEVC encoding, adaptive jitter buffer
• Auto-reconnect, keys never get stuck, controllers switch in automatically

MORE
• An illustrated guide on first launch, reopenable any time from Settings
• Single-app window streaming: put just one Mac window on your phone while the Mac screen carries on
• Use your iPhone or iPad as a second display for your Mac — and touch it
• Picture in Picture + Live Activity on the Lock Screen
• Clipboard sync, audio streaming, Wake-on-LAN, multi-display switching

PRIVATE BY DESIGN
• End-to-end encrypted: peer-to-peer when possible, relayed only when a direct connection is impossible — and the relay cannot see your screen
• QR / PIN encrypted pairing, end-to-end encryption, allowlist-only connections
• While being controlled, the Mac shows a persistent red banner and keeps a full connection history
• No account, no tracking, no cloud recording

PRICING
Everything is free forever on your local network (same Wi-Fi). The only paid item is the Remote Access subscription (monthly or yearly), needed only when you're away and want to reach your Mac. Features that are free today will never move behind the paywall.

GETTING STARTED
The Mac you want to control needs the free TouchNow Host (macOS 13 or later), from touchmac.app — it is not on the Mac App Store. Install it, scan the QR code once, and you're paired.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.0.14 — 2026-08-17

Two fixes:
- In Direct mode, pinching and then dragging made the picture jump, and you could push it past the edge of the video
- A Live Activity could stay on screen after the app was closed

### 1.0.13 — 2026-08-15

Arranging your game controller is much easier: buttons no longer jump to your finger when you tap them, and a connected physical controller pauses while you arrange, so you can't accidentally control your Mac. Buttons and sticks now give haptic feedback.

Your video quality choice is remembered instead of resetting to Automatic after a disconnect.

With Mac host 1.0.15: "Sharp" in trackpad mode now actually raises the resolution — it had no effect on iPhone before — and remote connections use a higher resolution too.

### 1.0.12 — 2026-08-11

Fixed text input occasionally failing inside games. The connecting screen is easier to read. Substantially improved VoiceOver, Dynamic Type and contrast support.

### 1.0.11 — 2026-08-07

• Your iPhone now shows the Mac's real pointer shape — text cursor, hand, resize — instead of always drawing an arrow (requires Mac app 1.0.12 or later)
• Scanning the pairing QR code connects right away; no extra tap
• Fixed first-time pairing: the list no longer shows unpaired Macs, and the instructions no longer point you at a QR code that isn't there
• The "pairing expired" alert now takes you straight to re-pairing
• Virtual keyboard keys give clear visual feedback and haptics when pressed
• Fixed parts of the English, Japanese and Simplified Chinese interface that still showed Traditional Chinese

### 1.0.10 — 2026-08-06

• The pointer now changes shape with your Mac: an I-beam over text, a hand over links, a resize arrow on window edges. Before, it was always an arrow no matter what your Mac was showing. (Requires the updated Mac app.)
• The loupe gains a Magnification setting (1.5×–5×). You could only change its size before — now how wide a area you see and how large things get inside it are separate.
• The fallback arrow, used when no Mac pointer has arrived yet, was redrawn to match macOS in both shape and colour.
• Fixed: the QR scanner camera preview was rotated incorrectly when the iPhone or iPad was held in landscape.
