How have I not seen this brilliant app before? I’ve spent the best part of the last 3 days messing around with it, it’s beautiful on its own, easy to dive into, straightforward manual for a deeper dive. Very versatile, great range of sounds and options. But wait...there’s more! MIDI via AUM...it’s a whole new ballgame! Even if you just use it for the chord progressions you’re getting your money’s worth easily arranging compositions within minutes. Composed several full songs within a few days. There is a learning curve but what a pay off. This thing is powerful and is ridiculously fun to jam with. Man, I’m in love with the probability patterns. Keeps things so fresh. Only wish there was a second bank of patterns to make even more complex arrangements but it’s no deal breaker. My kids with zero music theory love to jam with it as well. I love this app. ### 5/5 — Excellent and Very Sophisticated Midi Touch Controller *2021-01-07, version 1.5.4* In my experience, this app can be used to create very sophisticated and musical soundscapes, either with the included sounds, or by by sending the touch information to other apps or devices with midi. Very sophisticated and deep control parameters when you want them, but also simple to use when you'd just like to relax and enjoy some musical inpiration. It's now an essential piece of midi controller gear in my arsenal, and performs functions and inspires me in ways I could never get from a midi keyboard. In my opinion, this developer has made and important contribution to this new type of music production. The price is peanuts, compared to the cost of a hardware midi controller, and doesn't require any more physical space in my studio. ### 5/5 — Pure joy! *2020-06-17, version 1.5.1* This app is such a wonder of a touchscreen app. It has been a long while since a music app utilized the touchscreen in such cool ways. Great sounds inside this app. Amazing probability based sequencers. Full pattern/song capability. Powerful chord building feature with chord sequencing. And now, full midi out support as well. You can use any of your favorite synths and FX, and control them with this amazing touchscreen UI. If you haven’t already, check out the Moodscaper YouTube channel. Rob Jackson is not only an insanely talented developer, but also a great musician/producer as well. ### 5/5 — Amazing With One Critical Flaw *2020-06-06, version 1.5.0* Touchscaper is an app I recommend. It generates beautiful sounds and has become a great midi controller. It is one of my go to apps. The developer takes pride in his work to make this a top quality application. The main round radar instrument and ribbon controllers are great fun to play around with and together with the drums and 2 synth sequencers you can have endless hours of fun. Rob the developer is always finding ways to improve touchscaper and with the new midi out control to run external instruments and apps the possibilities are only limited by your imagination. Do yourself a big favour and give touchscaper a try highly recommended. Chris Coles ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Logic for iPad issue *2024-01-24, version 1.6.1* The entire reason I purchased this app was to use as an auv3 MIDI instrument in login for iPad. However it doesn’t show up as an available audio unit in the list for both logic or garage band. Would be 5 stars otherwise. However this is very disappointing. If there is a guide on how to get it working with logic that would be great. Otherwise if it can be updated to allow this integration that would be appreciated too. ### 1/5 — I would love to love this. *2024-01-08, version 1.6.1* I cannot get any midi connectivity to work. I’ve read the manual and watched a few videos. (One guy kept complaining how he’d never use midi and it’s a hassle but he still got it up and running in no time). I’ve tried old apps and new apps and mpe and Omni and many other options and I never get anything. I’ve enabled link and disabled link. I just don’t know what else to try. I’ve followed videos step by step with the same apps (even the same voices). It is very deep too, if you want to explore the finer details and possibilities, and add the amazing sounds/tracks to other songs if you make music. I enjoy immensely the expressive, tactile nature of this multi-purpose app, and I believe the low price could fairly be much more. I feel certain that people with limited mobility or limited understanding of music will also enjoy the joy of expression and sounding great too. I wish I had found this long ago and would urge anyone to get it.
