## What is Tour Pickwick?

Take a free, relaxing boat ride around Pickwick Lake, the way it was in the summer of 1990. Dad drives, the puppy rides along, the boat radio plays, and a friendly tour guide tells you about the real marinas, restaurants and landmarks as you pass - out where Tennessee, Mississippi and Alabama meet. Stop anywhere, or pick a spot and go straight there.

Then, if you like, play the story. Gavin is eleven. Dad has a boat, Mom has her instant camera, Aunt Carol has a personal watercraft, and best friend Matt lives across the street. Over eleven days - from the first tube ride to Labor Day's last run - Gavin learns to ski, crosses the wake, jumps it, drops a ski, and finally stands up on Dad's old wooden slalom ski.

- Steer by tilting your phone, like a real skier leaning into a turn (or drag a thumb, if you'd rather)
- Mom's instant photo at the end of every day, with a note on the back
- A lake drawn from the real Pickwick: bluffs, coves, a waterfall up the creek, the old chalk mine
- Four score games: Tube Hang-On and Buoy Run from the start, Wake Jam and Trick Run as the summer goes on
- Pass the phone: give a friend a ride, or start a family ski-off for up to four
- Write your own lake memory on the back of a snapshot, and share both sides
- Weekly Game Center boards: see the friend just ahead of you, and how far - then share your best run

It's all completely free - no ads, no purchases, no tracking. I made it simply to share with others. If you like it, a quick star rating helps other people find it.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.0.11 — 2026-10-29

Fixed: on some iPhones the game could stay on its opening picture when opened while holding the phone upright. It now always starts right up. The opening picture is now a simple dark screen. Still completely free.

### 1.0.10 — 2026-10-28

Pickwick Lake looks more like the real thing:
• More natural water, morning mist and summer light
• Buildings now sit on the ground where they belong
• Clearer signs at Hagy's and Eastport
• Tour captions stay low over the water, so you see every rooftop and the sky
• Lake sounds: water slapping the hull and the shoreline around you
• Fixed: "New best!" showing on every jump, and a window flicker at Eastport

Still completely free - no ads, nothing to buy. If you enjoy it, a star rating helps other people find it.

### 1.0.9 — 2026-10-27

Tour Pickwick: One Hot Summer 1.0.9 - the narrated boat tour of Pickwick Lake now has a tour guide who sounds like a real one, booming over the boat's loudspeaker, and a louder, livelier boat ride underneath. Razz naps on his towel while you ride. Words now sit right over the scene with no boxes in the way. The game checks for updates each time you open it. For skiers: a more natural wakeboard stance, a flatter life jacket for Gavin, softer shadows lit by light bouncing off the lake, more room between Gavin and Matt, and game controller and keyboard support.

It's all completely free - no ads, nothing to buy. I made it simply to share with others. If you like it, a quick star rating helps other people find it.

### 1.0.8 — 2026-10-23

New: your tour guide. Tour Pickwick now has a friendly announcer who tells you about each marina, restaurant and landmark as the boat goes by, just like a real lake tour. (You can turn him off in the settings.)

It's all completely free - no ads, nothing to buy. I made it simply to share with others. If you like it, a quick star rating helps other people find it.

### 1.0.7 — 2026-10-23

New in 1.0.7: the boat tour is easier than ever - one big 'Take a boat tour' button, 'Stop here' and 'Pick a spot' to jump to any place, and music on the boat radio. First-time skiers can choose thumb steering. It's all completely free - no ads, nothing to buy. Made just to share. If you like it, a quick star rating helps others find it.
