The price has increased dramatically, and the customer service experience has gone downhill drama. I have been blocked from Tovala’s Facebook page for a complaint that that was written professionally no profanity and no they’ve also blocked me from having a chat with them to find out why they blocked me from their page. I’ve now reached out to mini sea level people at Tovala to hopefully get a. This sounds like a very shady business when they are blocking customers that are leaving bad reviews. ### 3/5 — Needs better UX *2026-02-24, version 2.6.11* User should be able to edit their box in the summary view. I should be able to delete a selection without having to scroll through the whole week's meals to find it. ### 3/5 — Good 👍 but not a Money Saver like I had Hoped *2026-01-31* If you like comfort food and don’t have time for meal prep this is the service for you. Make sure to eat everything in 48 hours from receiving your box though regardless of what the box says. There’s gotta be something going on with delivery because nothing is lasting until the expiration date. Food is a little hit and miss. The idea is good and I hoped it was worth the money but after having it for a few months no. I’m paying more for what feels like less. I may as well be eating out. The meals are not quite balanced. I’m always having to add some kind of green like a can of greens on the side or the meal feels incomplete and I have to pay an additional $5 for sides to complete the meal. Eating out is more filling and cheaper. Terrible for you but you get the point. When I went to cancel my subscription the app completely freezes on that screen. If I click anywhere it works just fine. Coincidence? I’ve never had an oven like this. So far I like the idea of it and have used it to cook Tovala meals and reheat food. Does good with both so can’t complain with the oven. The style and look of it is impressive too. Will I still use this service. Yes. Delicious food and high tech. But now they have switched delivery services and food is arriving late. Sometimes not at all. Their response. "If your food is damaged we now need a photo". Ok. But what photo can I send when food never arrives. Even their tracking info shows it still in Pennsylvania. Too bad. I thought I might have finally found a great food program. Typical. So many beginner mistakes, the most glaring being the lack of sorting in alphabetical order. Scrolling through hundreds of companies to find a brand??? ### 3/5 — Oven unreliable *2025-10-14, version 2.6.1* The food is amazing but there is nothing worse than getting ready to cook your dinner and your oven is offline. And it won’t connect. The meal card insert does not tell you how long to cook the items so that if you can’t use your barcode, you might be able to cook your items in a regular oven. So I wasn’t able to eat my dinner and I still can’t connect my oven. Very frustrating. Love the idea they have created but a WiFi only oven is unreliable. ### 4/5 — Camera doesn't work anymore *2025-07-22, version 2.5.19* The latest update made the camera no longer able to scan the QR codes. This issue was around before and then got fixed, but now it's back. This isn't an issue connecting to the oven, since I can still cook the meals by tapping on the "past purchases" button, finding the meal I'm having, and cook it from there. But it was much better when I could just scan the QR code in the app and cook the meals that way. ### 3/5 — It’s 2025. I had a 12 min cook programmed and when I send it to my oven it would keep showing 20 min. So I keep having to create a new recipe for my kids chicken nuggets. That being said, this wouldn’t be an issue if the product scanned on the oven. Most brands that seem to work are not brands sold at Sprouts or Whole foods… almost every pre packaged product I buy from these locations does not scan on our Tovala. ### 2/5 — Food is Amazing, Oven is Useless *2025-04-16, version 2.5.12* I love the food, but the oven just completely stopped working after a week. The worst part is that the convenience of a QR code becomes the worst feature because you have no idea what temp or length of time to cook the food at in a conventional oven since the Tovala oven doesn’t work, not even in manual mode. Very frustrating! I want to love this, but it’s very hard when nothing works. ### 1/5 — Menu layout changes *2025-04-15, version 2.5.12* Single scroll down menu isn’t good enough to order from. Bring back the multiple tiered menu with pictures at least of what you’re ordering please. Was trying to re engage my subscription but the menu is so hard to navigate it’s unreal. Otherwise love the product 4 stars, navigation now 1 star. Also, on the app I can’t take meals off the order to change once it’s already in the cart. Their customer service was not very good either dealing with someone who can do absolutely nothing to help you. The food took so long to get here I only had 2 days to eat all the meals so I was repeatedly eating food after the expiration date. The sealed meats constantly had holes in the packaging leaking raw meat juice all over the inside of the box and making a huge mess. According to Tovala their sealed meat packaging is supposed to have holes in it and leek all over the place. I don’t understand that. Their packing of cold food was insufficient as I repeatedly received food with warm ice packs and warm raw food. If you manage to reach them, you are considered fortunate. I have numerous issues with this company. I am unsure where to begin with the inconsistent weekly payment processing or the instances where I select a payment card on file but they charge an alternative. It takes approximately two days for them to respond to any question or concern, which often results in the issue being too late. They sent me my oven, which arrived within a week. The food we ordered took about two or three weeks to arrive. In the meantime, I have used the tovala oven twice to cook two pieces of toast and one piece of salmon. Unfortunately, the oven malfunctioned during the cooking cycle, necessitating the replacement of a new one. The food we ordered came the next day now we don’t have a working tovala oven. Although it may seem unusual, you require their tovala oven to prepare their food, as there are specific cooking instructions available. I had to through the meal out. ### 1/5 — Extremely disappointing service *2025-05-07, version 2.5.14* Tovala ships UPS, and even tho their FAQ says it’s ok to not be home at time of delivery, UPS says Tovala doesn’t allow them to leave the boxes. So now UPS has left the packages at some random pharmacy. I’m disabled, and unable to pick up two heavy boxes from some random location. Tovala likes to say they’re all about accessibility, but this is an accessibility nightmare. I cannot wait around all day for these deliveries to be made. And today I’ve had to take off work to deal with this. Should have mixed and used Teriyaki sauce. It’s honestly even better than it seems. I’ve never been disappointed in a meal, and it’s so easy to use. On the weeks when I don’t order meals, I still use it to cook whatever I’m making for lunch. I also love scanning bar codes on my Costco items too like frozen pizzas, pop tarts, etc. The app is so well designed and incredibly easy to use. I use my Tovala almost every day. I actually eagerly look forward to my meals. Prep is easy, the oven works, and there's no clean-up to speak of.
