The mechanics are strangely rewarding in a way that I have never considered slots to be. Excellent work, devs! The idea here is excellent but it’s not applied well. The pacing is very slow and it falls incredibly short of a rogue-lite. It could be amazing if it were laid out well and some semblance of progress for replay value were implemented… but unfortunately it never is. Whatever the case, Tower of Fortune is dull, tedious, and a rip-off. Right up to the 'no warning moment' at character level 21 after hours of play and item collecting I died for the very first time and found out the hard way that a death in this (un-savable) tutorial bereft game--and lost everything. Return to lv1 with no money or items. Hilarious, game makers. Jokes on me. Few points I’d like to add . Your luck maxes out at 60. Kinda lame imo . The game has 9 stages essentially. Stages 1-7 took me about 4-5 hours to finish. The 8th stage was 3 straight hours of endless grinding . The final stage needs 25800 gold to unlock . And you average about 100 gold per minute of straight fighting . If you make a mistake your gonna lose 500 gold . That happened to me a few times. But basically your one shotting the final enemies and they are doing 1-4 damage to you. Took me hours to get the final 25800 gold . The beginning of the game is the funnest part . The strategy really comes into play. At the end your stuck with the best sword , and overpowered armor . I tried to switch it up with having more items that get extra gold , but I found myself making like +3 gold per fight that way. And again one mistake will cost you 500 gold . Making all the extra work meaningless . I really looked around seeing if I was doing somthing wrong but I wasn’t . It’s just very Grindy towards the end . And the final stages were so easy. There are 3 main bosses at the end . I killed all 3 without losing a life . And only losing about 50hp out of the 200hp I had . I really don’t recommend this game at all. Once you finish there is really no point in continuing . I know this is an old game but man. I feel like the devs did not play through this themselves . Or if they did they had infinite gold. Glad it’s over . Deleting . And by the way I did not pay for this myself . Immediately recognized and remembered it, immediately re-downloaded it myself and commenced playing it for hours on end. The most frustrating part so far is only being able to purchase 5 more multipurpose slots (armor, talismans, etc). I have collected 2-3x that many items, and since it’s not possible to change out items once you encounter an enemy, there’s no chance for customized fight strategies. I’ve hit level 28, and reached the Bridge, and the top monster there is nearly undefeatable without using 5-6 restore HP potions. Not sure if that means I’m trying to advance too quickly. Also, at this level, the initial weapon, Flame Sword, seems to be quickly outperforming any of the other 6 or so sword options I’ve collected, except maybe Wind Dancer (double attack 50% chance). Still, despite these difficulties, I’m not ready to give up playing yet, just getting the impression that it’s time to settle in for the long haul if I want to make it to the end.
