### 2/5 — Not what I expected

*2026-02-03, version 1.0.42*

I had a really had time connecting to the app, but once I put my phone into airplane mode it connected right away and I was able to view the video footage.

### 1/5 — Have literally never gotten it to work

*2025-08-12*

A couple months into having my new car that came with this device, I’ll occasionally feel ambitious and actually try to get it to connect to my phone to retrieve the footage. It’s never happened once. Wish I could just rip this useless eyesore off my windshield.

Always “unable to connect”.

Even simple things in their troubleshooting steps don’t work, like to reset WiFi password it says to hold Action+Mic for 10 seconds until you hear a beep. I’ll hold the buttons until my fingers get tired, no beep, no reset.

### 1/5 — Why won’t it work?!?!

*2025-08-11, version 1.0.42*

I have tried 50+ times and have reset everything numerous times, but I still won’t work!

### 1/5 — Basic Functionality does not work

*2025-07-26, version 1.0.42*

Buy aftermarket where the company is invested in creating a good product.

### 1/5 — Wish I could give this no stars

*2025-07-15*

How invasive can Toyota be?! Full access to my photos and videos in order to be able to send videos to my phone? Just let me connect via the app and use an SD card. Just got my vehicle with the dash cam preinstalled needless to say I’ll be purchasing an aftermarket that doesn’t require permission to access my phone. It’s already bad enough I can’t get ride of driver connect and all the other apps that Toyota uses to track your everything.

### 1/5 — Poorly designed app

*2025-07-14, version 1.0.42*

After spending almost a 1,000 dollars and for what?
A waste of money even after the updates it’s still no better.
Let’s get it together folks.
Can’t stay connected to WiFi, and when you do it disconnects all the time.
Will not stay connected to WiFi

### 1/5 — Doesn’t connect.

*2025-06-17, version 1.0.42*

Complete waste of time. Toyota could do some work on their tech apps.

### 1/5 — All photo access???

*2025-06-05, version 1.0.42*

Why does the app need “All photo access”.
Besides the time spent trying to connect, the app is not user friendly.
The dash cam itself has no method to change settings making the app a necessary evil.
Toyota needs to respond to all the one star reviews.

### 1/5 — Useless

*2025-06-03, version 1.0.42*

I payed extra in order to have this feature installed on my 2024 tundra. Toyota fix this app!!! Or whoever the id*ot created this app. A bottle opener is more useful than this app.

### 1/5 — Careless App

*2025-06-01, version 1.0.42*

Have to agree with all the one star reviews, app seems designed to be a complicated bordering on useless entity. I imagine the hardware is good, but trying to use/access is made difficult and tedious. Surprised at the lack of attention Toyota has chosen to go with. Why isn’t it integrated with the Toyota monitoring app? Regret having the cam installed, wasn’t cheap

### 1/5 — Will not connect

*2025-05-20, version 1.0.42*

Getting incorrect password when trying to connect to DashCam.

I have already tried resetting the DashCam, forgetting the network, as well as deleting and reinstalling app.

The app is just unusable.

Vehicle is a new 2025 one.

### 1/5 — Terrible

*2025-05-11, version 1.0.42*

Terrible app and terrible "integration" by Toyota.

### 1/5 — Won’t connect

*2025-05-03, version 1.0.42*

The dealer told me the app doesn’t work well. They were right. I have not been able to connect to my iPhone 16e at all. I did disconnect the CarPlay first and connected thru WiFi. But the app won’t talk to the camera. The car is 2025 Camry.

### 1/5 — Trash App

*2025-04-19, version 1.0.42*

Do better.

### 2/5 — Live view never works?

*2025-04-18, version 1.0.42*

Videos take a while to download and live view does not load.

### 1/5 — 0 stars is the right rating

*2025-04-18, version 1.0.42*

The worst app ever.

### 1/5 — A total failure

*2025-04-17, version 1.0.42*

I have to say, My camera NEVER worked. It was the only complaint that I had with my Camry.

### 1/5 — Terrible Dash Cam + App!

*2025-04-13, version 1.0.42*

Not worth one star! Bought my new vehicle with this defective dash cam. How can they continue to sell this product to trusting customers who have to deal with the cost to service or replace. I’ve never been able to connect even with Toyota Service Department. Escalating a resolution to replace!!!😵‍💫

### 1/5 — It doesn’t work

*2025-04-10, version 1.0.42*

I bought a new 2025 Camry and the camera does not work and does not connect automatically

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — BS waste of time. Doesn’t EVER work right.

*2026-01-27, version 1.0.42*

Toyota should embarrassed, they have much better quality than this. Literally a BRAND NEW CAR and the camera doesn’t connect to phone you have to pull the card every single time. The connection never stays long enough to complete a download or even navigate well. It’s such a POS. I cannot believe this was allowed to be final product.

### 1/5 — Garbage

*2025-12-18, version 1.0.42*

This is shameful that the app has Toyota in its name. Thought Toyota is good at quality

### 1/5 — Worthless

*2025-12-08, version 1.0.42*

Sucks !! Not at all what I expected . Pretty much worthless with your phone !!!!

### 1/5 — You need to fix this app, Toyota.

*2025-11-25, version 1.0.42*

This is app is absolute garbage. Every single time I turn on my truck, I have to struggle to get this app to connect to my dash cam (that I paid a lot of money to have installed at the Toyota dealership) and it is incredibly frustrating. I’m a loyal customer and you need to do something to remedy this, Toyota. Stop pushing paid subscription services and fix the products that you already released.

### 1/5 — HORRIBLE!

*2025-11-25, version 1.0.42*

Spent an hour of my life trying to get the app to communicate with phone/camera. Wish I would have read ALL the 1-star reviews! This is NOT the Toyota Quality Standard!

We put man on the moon with 1969 Technology, yet, downloading vids from a Toyota DashCam is impossible!! Sad!!

### 1/5 — Disappointed

*2025-10-29, version 1.0.42*

Excited to have the tech in the car, but found the app very clunk with poor connectivity.

Would prefer the app to sync with home WiFi.

### 1/5 — Mediocre at best

*2025-10-16, version 1.0.42*

For an alleged higher end product, the functionality of the app that supports it is dismal. You can’t use it while car play is connected, it has no connectivity to review clips unless sitting in the vehicle itself after multiple attempts to connect while in car. This could be a better app if developers read reviews and acted upon them.

### 1/5 — Dashcam

*2025-08-26, version 1.0.42*

Not a friendly user integrated dashcam after 5 months of ownership of truck. Hundred of Trying to connecting to the phone Still unable to gain access to the phone app.

### 1/5 — Poorly designed app

*2025-08-22, version 1.0.42*

After spending almost a 1,000 dollars and for what?
A waste of money even after the updates it’s still no better.
Let’s get it together folks.
Can’t stay connected to WiFi, and when you do it disconnects all the time.
Will not stay connected to WiFi
You have to connect to WiFi to even to get the app to open

### 1/5 — Does not show footage

*2025-08-21, version 1.0.42*

I can take the card out and watch it on my computer but when I connect with the app it doesn’t show any of the footage. Really sad Toyota charges us $500 for this camera and doesn’t even give us a working app.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Don’t Use Your Phone!

*2025-11-13*

I too struggled to connect with the camera. However you CarPlay and your vehicles Bluetooth fight for connection to your phone, which interferes with the connection to the dash cam. If you use an iPad and connect via WiFi that way, it works just fine. Alternatively you can shut off Bluetooth on your phone and connect easier as well. It should be more explicit on how to operate with the vehicles system, but that is why people have trouble connecting.

### 5/5 — Works fine. Just turn off Bluetooth

*2024-06-17*

Wireless CarPlay uses a direct connection from your phone to the head unit for car or apple play. The issue is that as long as your phone is connected to your head unit then it will never connect to the dash camera. Turning off Bluetooth and waiting a moment breaks the connection to the head unit and that will fully allow your phone to connect to the dash cam. Not much more to it.

### 5/5 — No issues here!

*2023-04-13*

I got home with my 23’ Tundra and dash cam connected with no issues. But I am person who read operating manual very thoroughly, mainly to see can’t do or not suppose to do. The app does work as it is intended to do.

### 4/5 — PLEASE READ. IT DOES WORK

*2023-10-16*

It does work. BUT, there is a small catch. You must turn off Bluetooth on your phone before connecting to the camera.

1: Turn your phone’s Bluetooth OFF
2: Press the WiFi button on camera
3: Connect to camera via WiFi
4: Open app and look for camera if it doesn’t auto connect

It took me a while and I was getting ready to add to the many 1-Star reviews. But then I did something I never do: read the details of the instructions. I like the app but Toyota could do something to make the process more clear. I guess this might not work for some, but it worked for me.

### 4/5 — System & Connection error

*2023-05-26*

DashCam works properly if Data & Bluetooth is turned off on iPhone
The moment data & Bluetooth turned ON, DashCam disconnects
Need CarPlay for music & navigation
Also need DashCam for safety
Please fix system bugs in this app or software update for DashCam to work simultaneously with data & Bluetooth On

### 4/5 — How to connect

*2023-04-03*

Was having trouble connecting very frustrating then found a video online that said turn off Bluetooth and cellular data while connecting. I do that now when trying to connect and have no problems connecting with those off.

### 4/5 — Work around

*2022-10-25*

Works perfect if you have an iPad or 2nd phone separate from the one used for your CarPlay. Like similar reviews I saw, it seams it competes with a connection and the CarPlay interferes; even with the radio off. It worked once with the phone I use for CarPlay & I changed the password and didn’t work since. But overall, seems to work consistently with non CarPlay phone. Unfortunately, everyone doesn’t have that option.

### 3/5 — Could be better …

*2024-09-15*

What Toyota doesn’t tell you is very important to make this thing work. I think what everybody misses is the fact that you need to join the network that the dash cam is on and then download the selected videos to your device. The download takes a long time.
The other option is to pull the Sim card and put it in your computer or some other device that can read the card.

### 3/5 — It does work.

*2023-11-05, version 1.0.36*

I used an iPad, Bluetooth OFF, WiFi ON.

Connect to Dash Cam after pushing the WiFi button on the cam.

Software is crude but all that you really want to do is find the interesting files and download.

### 3/5 — System is ok but not spectacular

*2022-05-12, version 1.0.23*

I read another review- in order to get live view on your iPhone, you must turn off cell phone data- because the system is set up as a low power device your phone wants to use cell data rather than the DashCam Wi-Fi.

I increased my review from 1 star to 3.
