### 1/5 — Version 2.0 not connecting to Toyota + Alexa app

*2022-05-29, version 1.1.15*

This version does not initialize on my iPhone 12 when connected to my 2021 Avalon Hybrid. It worked fine before the update. I've tried reinstalling both apps and reestablishing the Bluetooth connection. I know it must be a setting I'm missing.

### 1/5 — App was functioning in my 2020 corolla and became useless

*2022-05-22, version 1.1.15*

Toyota-alexa app was working fine until some “genius” app tech decided to shut down entune 3.0 for a toyota app that is incompatible with 2021 or older car models.

They shut down the alexa-toyota and entune 3.0 app for vehicle models that were working fine.

Toyota, you are selling a multimedia system that is a lie because after you sell the units, you discharge their functionality. Zero rate for this useless app.

### 1/5 — Another problematic app from Toyota

*2022-04-26, version 1.1.15*

Just like the main Toyota app this one is useless as well. Also, the worse Alexa execution in a any car brand. You have to open and close the app in order to make it work. It drops if you receive a call. Please Toyota work on your apps and make it useable like the other brands do.

### 1/5 — Poorly Integrated Application

*2022-03-26, version 1.1.15*

Toyota has several apps that conflict with Apple Play. Sometimes Alexa works but trying to get the Apple Maps and Alexa songs is impossible. Pay attention to the road instead of this application. Someone is going to get hurt trying to make this work correctly.

### 1/5 — Waste of Time

*2022-03-01, version 1.1.15*

This was a hunk of software crap when it came out and still is? For the price paid for my Prius Prime, none of the software has worked as one would expect from Toyota. Certainly will look to other makes next time around .

### 1/5 — My Toyota Alexa

*2022-01-23, version 1.0.14*

Oh my god! I always thought it was just my vehicle but having read all the reviews sounds like Toyota is well aware of the problem since it seams to be the same for everyone yet they either are not doing anything about it or don’t care(?).

### 1/5 — It doesn’t work

*2021-12-22, version 1.0.14*

I’ve tried everything I can think of to make this stupid app connect to my Toyota. (Yes, the Bluetooth is already paired with the car.) it just won’t work. When I bought the car I was promised that Toyota would be upgrading it to Apple Play. Well, that was a lie and I’m stuck with their crap Entune and now this crap app that doesn’t work.

### 1/5 — Bad connection

*2021-10-23, version 1.0.13*

This app has given me trouble since I got my 2020 tundra limited. Poor connection. Once I am able to get the app working and connected it will randomly disconnect. Then I’ll have to close down the app and restart it. This happens daily. So often I’ll avoid using it when I can. Worst vehicle app I have ever used. Toyota please fix this.

### 1/5 — Don't work at all won't connect to car.

*2021-10-18, version 1.0.13*

Have a 2019 Camry xse, had a Samsung note and this worked easy and never had a problem. Because my car only have car play because it's a 2019 I decided to just switch to iPhone. Literally the only reason. Now this don't work. Guess it don't matter but I always don't want to plug in for car play. I've tried everything...Disappointed to say the least.

### 1/5 — Microphone

*2021-10-16, version 1.0.13*

App says I need to enable microphone to use. It points you back to the settings. No option to enable microphone. Pretty garbage considering you advertise a feature on a product that costs over 40k and it just is false. Take it out of the advertising if you aren’t committed to resolving issues.

### 1/5 — It’s useless

*2021-06-20, version 1.0.12*

Installed, uninstalled, followed directions. My 2019 Avalon tells me I need to connect to Bluetooth, but I am already. It tells me I need to download the app. I did. I click the T-A app on my car. It tells me it can’t detect T-A and to be sure it’s installed in my phone. I’m done with it. It’s ridiculous.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2021-04-29, version 1.0.9*

It was installed on my 2018 Camry and worked fine a few times and stopped working. Entune doesn't work well, however, I can use my phone to make calls through my speaker system and that's all it does. I can't even get my navigation system to work. All apps are grayed out. Useless system.

### 1/5 — Needing to open the app.

*2021-04-15, version 1.0.9*

I don’t understand why each time I want to use Alexa Toyota app that I need to open the app each time I disconnect from the car. It also seems when you switch to a different app while never disconnecting from Bluetooth you have to reopen the app to reconnect. This is a hassle if you are on long trips and are still driving.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2021-03-22, version 1.0.9*

Just tried to connect to a one-day-old 2021 Rav4 Prime. Bluetooth connected just fine, and CarPlay works via cable, but I couldn’t get this Alexa app to work whether cable tethered or not. Waste of time. Toyota should eliminate their apps entirely rather than wasting out time with bad apps. I love the new Rav4 though 👍❤️❤️❤️

Update: After more screwing around I finally got it installed and connected but no change to my one-star review. The connection is inconsistent, the mic is intermittent/unstable, the app only works when the cable is unplugged (killing CarPlay)... so still a bad app, waste of time.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2021-03-15, version 1.0.9*

I have a 2019 Toyota Sienna. My van literally advertised that I should download and use this app. I was so excited. Well, after spending multiple hours trying to connect to my van it just wouldn’t connect. I still want to try again but as of now this app gets a big fat 1 star because it’s not user friendly.

### 1/5 — Never Worked

*2021-03-12, version 1.0.9*

Ever since I purchased my 2019 Toyota Camry SE, I have had difficulty with Toyota Apps and connected services within my car. The Toyota+Alexa app never worked, even though I’ve tried sitting down for over an hour a couple times now to get it connected. I’ve tried everything including disconnecting a State Farm Bluetooth Beacon completely (which shouldn’t interfere as all other Bluetooth connections work for Toyota). Nothing works. I always end up with the same result - “Not Detected.” I have tried almost every FAQ page, Toyota Owners, anything and I just go in circles. This APP needs major correction

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work very well

*2021-02-27, version 1.0.9*

It doesn’t work very well. It keeps dropping I get it set up and then it takes about a half an hour to get it to work it keeps dropping it was a fantastic idea but it’s a dangerous app it says don’t use it while you’re driving well it keeps dropping so you’ll have to try to get back on so you pull off the road almost get hit trying to get it back on. It needs a lot of work it’s a great idea but please get it to work right .

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Not working app

*2023-03-03, version 1.1.15*

I have a 2021 toyota rav4 and I've been trying to connect this app to the car for two years and it doesn't work, it's the last time I tried it, thinking that maybe they had improved the app but it's the same situation that says it doesn't connect with the microphone but in configuration everything is connected. So they should put a lot of effort for the application.

### 1/5 — Toyota screwed up Alexa

*2023-01-30, version 1.1.15*

I am a Techie. Have Alexa ecosystem in my home since 5+ years. Never got the Toyota+Alexa App to get setup on my XSE 2019. Spent hours with Toyota Phone Support in Jan’23, but same result... Car is connected via Bluetooth but fails to detect the Alexa on the phone. Toyota asked to go to a dealership… which asked for a $180 diagnostics fee. Toyota wants me to pay this to dealership with no commitment of reimbursement, as dealers operate independently. During my trials… I must have reinstalled the apps, reset & updated car software more than 20-25 times. I eventually gave up & deleted these apps for good.

### 1/5 — It doesn’t work 😡

*2023-01-21, version 1.1.15*

This app has really bad connectivities issues with the car.
It worked fine when I installed it never ever again! The car cannot detect the App and the feature is grayed out.
Horrible experience!
The fact that it has a 2 star rating and Toyota doesn’t do anything about it is mind blowing.
Toyota has great cars, but this App is a shame.
Maybe Toyota should give up on the Alexa feature and remove it from the marketing and sales material to avoid more of this bad customer experience.

### 1/5 — Don’t waste your time.

*2022-09-12, version 1.1.15*

I have a 2022 Toyota Tacoma. I down loaded the Toyota and Toyota-Alexa app. It worked for a couple of days and then Alexa froze. Now the Toyota-Alexa icon on the touch screen doesn’t light up even though the truck is connected to my phone’s Bluetooth and the Toyota-Alexa phone app says it’s connect.

### 1/5 — Not Worth It

*2022-07-20, version 1.1.15*

This app is a piece of crap. I bought a 2021 Corolla a week ago. I been able to get Toyota +Alexa app to work one time in my driveway. Now it says make sure my Bluetooth is connected or the app is grayed out on my screen or the app just spins. The voice command to make calls or anything doesn’t really work either. I love the car but the voice command apps like Alexa is worthless

### 1/5 — worked once- Update- Solution Found

*2022-07-15, version 1.1.15*

I was actually really excited to use this and it worked well the first time. You could just use your phone but the idea of just using your voice without touching your phone would be more convenient. Sadly, Toyota is not fixing this. Hurry up and fix this or stop promoting it as an incentive. SOLUTION FOUND I figured out of to make this work. Obviously, first have a bluetooth connection. This will automatically connect the next time. Then open the red toyota app, NOT toyota+alexa app. In the red toyota app, press the down arrow and it should reveal the app suite button on the bottom left. It should say toyota+alexa app as downloaded. Click on that then on the bottom “launch toyota+alexa app”… this will trigger this app to open up and finallt you will see the app as an audio source in your dash/infotainment. In other words, you have to launch this non working app through the red toyota app to work. Otherwise you will just see a grey icon you can’t click.

### 1/5 — Terrible experience

*2022-07-14, version 1.1.15*

Doesn’t deserve even one star. Installed it four times and spent well over one hour in total without getting any luck with staring the app properly. Complete waste of time and will never ever use it or try to use it again.

### 1/5 — Crap

*2022-07-07, version 1.1.15*

I can’t even get this out of my car dash…won’t connect, won’t delete and it’s ruined my ability to use any other feature. Can’t skip songs or even see what is playing anymore. Wish I had never downloaded. Awful everything.

### 1/5 — Way too much hassle

*2022-06-13, version 1.1.15*

I would rather the app not exist than have it exist in this unusable premature state it’s in now. Or call it what it is, a beta (or Alpha!).

I have to open and connect all the apps every time I get into my car. Doesn’t connect when my phone is plugged in. to me, the app is false advertising and completely worthless until they can get it to connect automatically without manual intervention every time I turn on my car.

This app degrades my opinion of Toyota and Amazon/Alexa. Neither company should have allowed this to market in the current state.

### 1/5 — Clearly no communication between developers

*2022-06-11, version 1.1.15*

Every other function and app you use with your Toyota vehicle requires you to have a hardwired connection. This one asks you to Bluetooth. That alone makes this app worthless. Haven’t even gotten to the bugs everyone else talks about

## Most praised reviews (8 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Oh What A Feeling!

*2020-12-02, version 1.0.7*

This app works perfectly in conjunction with the Toyota app in my 2021 Tundra Limited!

Alexa App works perfectly. From my favorite music to remote start, everything works flawlessly. Be sure to connect all your accounts and start enjoying!

Thank you Toyota!

### 4/5 — Wake Word

*2020-10-20, version 1.0.7*

It works pretty well so far but do you have any plans to allow the user to change the wake word like with other devices? My daughters name is Alexa and at home we call it “Echo.” Thanks.

### 2/5 — No longer works

*2022-07-27, version 1.1.15*

After one of the last updates Alexa no longer works. I used to just launch the app and now in order to get it to work I also have to go in to the Toyota app swipe down to get to connected apps and open that. There is nothing on that screen but it puts the app in my Toyota apps window.
Try doing that every time you get in to your vehicle.

### 2/5 — Disappointed

*2021-08-25, version 1.0.13*

I’m not sure exactly where the issue lies; the app, the connection between the app and my car or the Alexa app built into the car but all I can say is that it’s very disappointing how poorly this app/feature works. I can usually get it to play a couple songs before it stops working and I can’t get it to work again.

### 2/5 — Huge Let Down

*2020-05-24, version 1.0.5*

The only, and I mean the only, thing that has disappointed me about my Toyota purchase has been the crappy Entune system. I was able to connect with Alexa for about 30 minutes (hence the second star) then, gone, never to return. It is inexcusable to have such a fine vehicle paired (pun intended) with such a lackluster app. Who ever is responsible for this needs to be sacked now.

### 2/5 — Needs more features.

*2020-01-09, version 1.0.2*

Correct me if I’m wrong, but as far as I can tell, it will only open maps on your phone rather then on the screen of the car. I don’t want to look at my phone, that defeats the purpose of buying a car with a screen. I’ll stick with using Apple car play until it’s updated. It’s also very limited in what apps will show up.

### 2/5 — Frustrating 😡

*2019-12-23, version 1.0.2*

If they ever get this app to connect without having to restart it every time you start the car it will be great. For now it’s very very frustrating. I love Alexa and so go through the process almost every time I drive but annoyed I am 😡

### 2/5 — Works - sort of

*2019-09-02, version 1.0.2*

I have a 2019 RAV4 and was very excited to see the Alexa app. I have been more than a bit frustrated trying to get it to work consistently. What I found is that after starting the car I have to unload and reload the app to get it to work. It appears to be a problem with the microphone - it requires a reload in order to work. If I use the phone I have the same problem - after ending the call I have to unload/reload the app to get it to work again. Once reloaded it works fine - until someone calls or I restart the vehicle. This is something that one would think could be fixed, but apparently it is not a very high priority. Hey Toyota - making this work smoothly may help you sell more cars - if that’s important to you.
