Setting it up was the easiest thing in the world. Shady. *2026-08-08* Update: TPLINK’s decision to take away most of the parental control functionality the devices came with and lock it behind a subscription verges on criminal. Removing functionality that was paid for to force people to pay again for what they ALREADY bought is a despicable business practise - shame on this company. They used to be good. Now I wouldn’t recommend. My old, glowing 5* review for the older version before TPLink’s greed set in is below: This worked really well to setup a 3 node Deco M9 (replacing the rubbish BT HomeHub and WholeHome mesh we previously used). It’s great as far as it goes - but it doesn’t go far enough. The parental controls are good, as is the reporting & monitoring. It’s a million times better than BT’s half hearted unreliable effort. However... The SmartHome support is just not good enough. For iOS14, it needs a widget (for network status & smart home control). TPLink removed IFTTT support this earlier this year - fair enough if they were going to actually replace it with something - the built in automation is just not good enough - it lacks any remote trigger facility & can’t do Geofencing. Needs an urgent update to either restore IFTTT or add an equivalent SmartHome control system, or folks won’t be able to do anything really useful with the Zigbee radios. ### 1/5 — Baghdad *2026-08-04, version 3.10.485* تطبيق بطيء في الاستجابة ### 1/5 — Unreliable *2026-08-04, version 3.10.485* This app is totally unreliable. Most of the time it reports that all of my mesh repeaters are unreachable or offline, when this is not the case. It really isn’t acceptable in 2026 for an app to be this clunky, especially from a networking company. ### 1/5 — Au top mais un gros problème de choix automatique des fréquences *2026-08-03* Nombreuses fonctionnalités de sécurité pour l’accès aux réseaux. Redémarrage à distance. Sécurité des connexions au top, gestion des interférences automatiques après diagnostic et de nombreuses options. Je recommande. Si l'on devait laisser l'appareil doté de technologies de pointe fonctionner en mode automatique avec ses algorithmes avancés, l'appareil peut toujours faire des choix qui ne sont pas en adéquation avec la force du signal et des capacités optimales de débit internet. Les algorithmes c'est bien mais c'est loin d'être sûr pour l'analyse d'un réseau dans l'état actuel. C’est dommage d’en arriver là. On espère qu’une mise à jour du logiciel viendra corriger ça pour que l’algorithme puisse prioriser les bandes b3,b7,b1 et b8 et que la bande b3 qui offre le meilleur signal soit celle qui doit être prioritaire pour accrocher l’antenne de l’opérateur téléphonique pour fusionner ensuite dans l’ordre suivant : b3,b7,b1 et b8 et les autres fréquences en arrière plan. Actuellement, le problème, c’est que la N78 est prioritaire alors qu’elle pénètre mal à l’intérieur des habitations et n’offre que très peu de signal et de débit internet à elle toute seule. C’est un problème récurrent qui mérite l’attention et l’intervention des dirigeants de TP-Link.
