## What is Trace?

Deep analysis of your training and health data, a plan that fits around your everyday life, and an AI coach you can ask anything. What used to take several apps and a coach now sits in one app: trace.

WHAT THE APP COMPUTES
• Readiness: a score from 0 to 100 every morning from HRV, resting heart rate, sleep and your recent training load, each factor measured against your own values from the past weeks rather than population norms
• Training load: fitness, fatigue and form (CTL, ATL, TSB), with a warning when your ramp gets too steep or your training too monotonous
• Durability and aerobic efficiency: how well your power holds up when the ride gets long, and whether your heart rate is coming down at the same power
• VO2max and fitness age, both tracked over months
• Heat acclimatization, derived automatically from your normal sessions
• Cycling: Critical Power and W' with no test protocol, plus power curve, W'bal and your rider type
• Running: critical pace, heart rate recovery and training effect
• Climbs: detected automatically, with vertical metres per hour and pacing, and every one of your ascents comparable

BEYOND THE NUMBERS
• Training plans that follow your goal, the time you have and what you can actually handle. When life gets in the way, the plan adapts instead of punishing you with a red deficit
• Even without a plan trace suggests a session every day, and with a subscription you can also create your own from the workout catalogue
• One tap sends a planned session to your head unit or your watch, with the warm-up, the intervals and targets in watts or heart rate
• After every session the workout report shows how well plan and execution lined up
• Race preparation with course simulation, race prediction and pacing for your target event
• Fueling plans with concrete carbohydrate and fluid amounts, for training and for race day
• The trace Coach knows your data, your history and your goals, and answers any question about them

HOW THE NUMBERS ARE MADE
trace computes all of these values itself, with no language model involved. The AI explains them, answers questions and drafts your plans, and even there it stays inside the computed limits.

CONNECTS TO YOUR SETUP
Apple Health (iPhone and Apple Watch), Wahoo, Polar, Suunto, intervals.icu (for Garmin data, for example) and Hammerhead. You can also import FIT, TCX and GPX files directly. Once connected, new sessions land in trace automatically.

YOUR DATA BELONGS TO YOU
Hosted in the EU, full data export anytime, no sharing of your health data for advertising. You can delete your account and all your data right in the app.

START FOR FREE
trace is free to use. The first two weeks of every training plan are yours to train in full, device push included. Advanced analyses and features come with an optional subscription. No ads, no selling of your data. The same account works at usetrace.de on a big screen.

## Version history (last 4 releases)

### 1.0.5 — 2026-09-03

If you are training without a plan right now, trace now suggests a session every day, tailored to where your training stands today. From Athlete on you can create a session yourself: pick the sport, what it is for and how long you have, and trace builds the rest from your data. You can then export it straight to your head unit or your watch.

Also in this release:
• Your power profile now has finer gradations and a clearer display. The chart shows all twelve durations, and every best effort tells you which level it sits on and what the next one costs
• Fatigue level is no longer just a number, but a curve through its six bands, from detraining to overtraining
• The calendar has become a day list you scroll through, with a week grid above it showing where you are. Rides you recorded sit there with their route as a thumbnail, finished sessions with a tick on the day you actually did them
• In training status you pick what applies right now: following the plan, training freely, sick, injured or on a break. While you are ill, injured or on a break, trace stops asking for a session and reads an elevated resting heart rate for what it is
• A planned session can be adjusted to how you feel that day: duration, warm-up time and interval density. That is also where you decide whether running and riding are steered by pace, heart rate or power

Plus smaller bug fixes and stability improvements.

### 1.0.4 — 2026-08-17

Planned sessions can now go to your Apple Watch, one at a time or a whole week. They sit there as scheduled workouts, with the warm-up, the intervals and their target ranges.

The training plan has been rebuilt. Today's session is right on the home screen. The week shows its seven days side by side and, below them, how much of it you have already done. And a session opens as a briefing: the numbers, the profile over the minutes, section by section, and the planned split across zones. Tap a section and the zone explains itself.

Also in this release:
• Race week counts down the days to the start: opener, carb loading, the day before and race-day fueling, each on the day it belongs to. Your season sits above the race list as a timeline
• If you wear a CORE sensor, heat acclimatization works from your measured core temperature instead of the weather, and the session shows the measured peak and the minutes above the threshold
• When the trace coach reads your data for an answer, it shows underneath which sessions and values those were. "Ask the coach about this" now sits right under an activity, your training load, your VO₂max and your recovery
• Under Apps & Devices every connection explains what comes from there and what you see from it. Apple Health is now in the same list as everything else
• Starter now includes form and load with all their diagnostics and the season overview, and the first two weeks of a new training plan are free

Plus smaller bug fixes and stability improvements.

### 1.0.3 — 2026-08-14

VO₂max, training load and aerobic efficiency now list the sessions the value came from. Tap one to open it. The heat sessions lead straight to the activity as well.

New for runners: the pace-duration curve the Critical Pace is fitted on, with your own bests as a separate line next to the model.

Also in this release:
• The coach writes at a steady pace instead of in blocks
• Your remaining monthly allowance is visible in the coach and when creating a plan
• Starter now includes five climbs instead of three
• Sex can be set during setup and in your profile; it determines how your VO₂max is classified and your calorie needs

Fixed: the confirmation link from the sign-up email signs you in, the manual import of several files at once no longer breaks off, and the info button in the header no longer stretches out of shape on iOS 26.
