When the day ends, a letter is waiting for you. You wrote it. A line jotted at lunch, a photo from the walk home, the one thing you finally finished. In the evening Trace gathers all of it onto letter paper. You press the wax, and the letter drops into a mailbox only you can open. Years from now, that letter is still there, exactly as it was. Trace never asks you to "write a journal". One line counts. A LETTER A DAY What you wrote, what you finished, who was on your mind, folded into an envelope before bed and stamped with today's seal. Sixteen small animals take turns at the stamp, and the same day always gets the same one. Every month has its own mailbox. Miss a day? Open that one letter. A whole letter can be saved as an image, and it syncs through your own iCloud. NOTEBOOKS Keep one thing in one notebook, and it grows into a book. One page per screen, and the paper curls under your fingertip. Paper scraps, lace, washi tape and stickers are laid out page by page; photos go in as polaroids. Twelve covers, or a cover made from your own photo. Bind a whole notebook into a PDF, or record its real page turns as a video. CAPTURE Photos, videos, Live Photos, voice notes, sketches, place, mood, weather. One line is enough. Write for a past day and it gets a dated mark. MAILBOX Tap "Seal the day" on Today and Trace copies the day onto letter paper, presses the wax and files it into this month's mailbox. Sixteen small animals take turns at the stamp. Today's letter can be updated with what's there now, signed with your own name, saved whole to Photos, and it syncs through iCloud. Sealing is a Pro feature, free for your first month; sealed letters always stay readable. NOTEBOOKS Pages really turn now: one page per screen, and the paper curls under your fingertip. Pick from 12 covers or make one from your own photo; a bookmark remembers where you left off. Each page lays the day out as a collage, photos included. Bind a notebook into a covered PDF, or record its real page turns as a video. COMMENTS Attach photos, videos and Live Photos to a comment. Subject cutout works while picking, and the camera opens full screen. CYCLE PANEL Rebuilt. Backfill a complete start-to-end range; the panel gains a monthly calendar and history, and every past period shows a proportional bar you can compare at a glance. REPEATING TO-DOS "Weekly" and "monthly" now read "Every Wednesday" and "Every month on the 1st". The next round no longer sits in your list ahead of time. Update notices now arrive as Trace's own card. ### 1.3.7 — 2026-08-27 Trace 1.3.7 brings photo cutouts, and goals you can measure. • Photo cutouts: tap Cut Out on a photo while you are picking it and the subject lifts off its background, then goes straight into your entry as a transparent photo — no saving to Photos and picking again. Full-size photos inside an entry can be cut out and saved or shared, and a person's avatar can drop its background in one tap. It all happens on your iPhone, and the original photo is never changed. • Goals, from checking off to counting: a goal like six glasses of water now records how much you actually did, and progress recalculates when you change the target. Rhythms add fixed weekdays and monthly counts, rest days are never misses, and you can pick each goal's icon. • Fixed long freezes that could hit the to-do list and goal details, and trimmed the redraw cost of composing, Today, and Look Back. • Fixed the top of the navigation bar turning white while scrolling. Spots with photos show them, and you can browse by year or share the map. • Entry times you can change: pick an exact time when backdating an entry, or change the time of an existing one — it moves back to where it belongs. • Smoother photo picking: zoom in while choosing from your library, tap added photos or videos to view them full screen, and city search now works offline. • Fixed Done occasionally not responding after writing, photos staying gray, and a few screens getting stuck.
