Does not integrate/report data to apple health app (or perhaps only the absolute base). And for some reason decides not to function randomly with no warning on an afternoon walk when nothing on iphone or watch changed from morning walk. I realize you get what you pay for and its a free app. However Tractive should realize a badly behaving intro app is NOT going to convince most to buy their gps (which frankly is too big) or their service plan. So long unaTractive. ### 3/5 — It’s ok *2023-10-12* Works on the phone but not on the watch ‘ as I forgot my phone and I had the app on my watch but it didn’t start! I’ll give it a 3star for now and check back in a few weeks with updates ### 3/5 — latest updates *2023-07-30* I used to like this app, but I am very disappointed after this app changed and redesigned their interface. 1) Background color is always black. We cannot change it back to its original white background. 2) The map used to be great - clean and simple (just like the map shown in the preview section). Now there are three maps choices but they are either too cluttered or too dark. We cannot select the map we used to have. 3) A settings prompt always pops up when the app is started. The prompt asks u to change the notification setting. There is no ways to stop it from reappearing if we choose not to allow notifications. **Developer response:** Hi! Cheers, Bonnie, Tractive ### 2/5 — Update Ruined It *2023-07-21* I have been using this app for a little over a year for my personal dogs and clients dogs and it has been absolutely incredible. Ever since the recent update I am no longer able to share my walks, it sends a blank link. I already contacted their customer support and after one reply for an attempted fix that I’d already tried (delete app, restart phone, reinstall app), it fixed nothing. Since, I have heard nothing from them. Hoping they get this fixed soon.. I had to download a different dog walking app but would like to come back to this one if they get this resolved 🥺 **Developer response:** Hey! I'm sorry to hear you're having issues with your app! Cheers, Bonnie, Tractive ### 3/5 — New Update Fails *2023-07-15* I am a Pet Sitter have been using this app since the beginning. I have absolutely loved it! It helps me track my personal walks with my dog as well as any dog walks I for personal clients or Rover clients. I use this app along with Rover because the Rover app tends to not track walks all that well. However, recently the app was updated and I can no longer share walks with clients and I can no longer save walks once they’re completed. They refuse to load and save no matter what I do. This is super frustrating because I have loved this app up until now. 🥺 I’m hoping this issue may be fixed soon!💝🤞 ### 4/5 — Needs an update *2022-06-25* I love using this app, I use it daily for work as a dog walker. The only issue with this app is if you accidentally close the app down you lose the walk you are currently doing. It’s a shame when you open up the app it doesn’t save to history or there is no option to resume. An update to fix this would be great! ### 3/5 — Does the job *2021-02-07, version 1.5.0* Functional and easy to use… Does the job! Only complaint: if you accidentally close the app while using it, your data is deleted. Suggestion:Add a resume button before deleting or allow users at least 30 seconds to a minute before deleting the ‘in progress’ history. ### 4/5 — Good app for dog walker but cuts out and doesn’t save your progress *2020-12-10, version 1.5.0* This is a pretty good app for dog walkers BUT it has some flaws! 1) Was wondering if you all could make it so you can do multiple walks at the same without having it start off with all the dogs you want at first. I’m a pro dog walker and it would be useful to be able to start a walk with one dog, pick up another dog and start another timer and be able to end those walks when they end and not all at the same time. If that makes sense! I would pay for a dog tracking app like that! 2) It doesn’t give you an option to view your pictures before they get sent:( this also stinks 3) It also doesn’t offer to let you take videos on the app either! You get to know if they peed or pooped and all sorts of stuff. It’s is 100% free if you just do the walking part and not the tracking, but in all it’s a great app, I wish it did more things tho. ### 3/5 — Doesn’t map now :( *2020-05-06* I was really enjoying this app at first, and I do find I go on longer walks now that I’m recording them. HOWEVER, the app has started to fail lately, mapping only a small portion of my route. I’m motivated to walk both of my dogs more often now. After I returned from my first walk I realized there was an option to keep track of how many times the dog went to the bathroom, so I’ll be using that feature more often now. 10/10 would recommend. ### 2/5 — Closes app almost each walk *2020-03-05, version 1.5.0* WOULD be a good app if the app didn’t clock out during EVERY walk. If I want it to keep track of walks I have to click into the app every 10 min, which is a pain since I put my phone in my back pack during hikes. APP SHUTS DOWN DURING EACH USE, fix this??? ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Deletes key features *2024-05-05* Have left a review before but clearly has been deleted… this app used to have a feature where you could send a friend a link to track the walk live… this was suddenly and unexpectedly removed. Also, you have to keep opening the app to track your walk… if you go any more than an hour without checking you will loose the walk. Useless ### 1/5 — What happened? *2024-01-23* Seems to have stopped working all together. Can’t get past the loading page. ### 1/5 — Lost all history *2023-07-12* I’ve just had a new phone and transferred over to discover I have no history. I’ve also found that since updating to the latest version, it’s hit a miss as to whether it will save it to your history. Really disappointed as the earlier version I must’ve been using was obviously a lot more reliable. Might have to look at an alternative. Such a shame because it was a good app. Especially considering it’s free ### 1/5 — Doesn’t track distance accurately at all *2020-09-29* The tracker does not track the entire walk. . For a one hour walk, it said we only went 600 metres ### 1/5 — Shame *2020-09-18* It is a real shame that this App is not more closely linked to the main Tractive App. If I go for a walk with my dog without my mobile phone then the results on dog walk are hopeless - the route and distance are just nowhere near accurate - although Tractive has the route recorded fine. This app has great potential as the main Tractive Activity records distance covered when in the car so does not give an accurate idea of the digs actyal daily activity. I would also like to see daily totals, daily and weekly averages for activity. So great idea but it is let down - I don’t know why it has to use my mobile phone rather than the sim in the dogs tracker to record. ### 1/5 — Doesn’t work *2020-06-27* App does not work at all ### 1/5 — Fails to track *2020-04-22, version 1.5.0* I don’t ever write reviews for apps unless they’re really frustrating to use or out of this world fantastic. This one is unfortunately the prior. Having given full location privileges to the app, it fails to properly track where I walked my dog — the sole functionality of this app. The app expects me to be holding onto the phone and have the app open in order to actually track which street I went on. Otherwise it does a DISPLACEMENT not distance of the last time I opened the app and now. Essentially, all this app does is record location A and location B and draws a line between them on a map, which renders itself utterly unusable. Given that I walked both in my neighborhood and a hiking area, reception is clearly not a factor here. I’m extremely disappointed given that the app seems so well received but I can’t seem to leverage it’s expected functionalities. ### 1/5 — Garbage App *2020-02-12, version 1.5.0* Does not work ever starts walks doesn’t track. No way to contact support. Edit: Was contacted by company service support and was basically told to delete app and reinstall if that doesn’t work too bad because their focus is elsewhere right now. Basically they don’t care if the app is working for me or not because I haven’t bought their tracker. WORST APP AND COMPANY. ### 1/5 — SUPPORT DIDNT BOTHER TO READ - Uses Phone GPS Not Tracker *2020-01-03* I bought a “decent” tracker for my dog so I could know where she was but also to track our walks and find out exactly how far she is running to ensure she is doing enough/ not too much. All this app tells me is how far I walked! What’s the point? At least give us the choice! The other Tractive app gives me the dogs location and Pet Points... not the most helpful as they aren’t relative to anything! Support clearly didn’t read my entire review. I have seen the other app but it doesn’t track the walk. This app says “track your dog’s walks” which isn’t true. However, the app now constantly crashes and I can no longer keep it running during walks and it’s no longer useful. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Great! *2024-01-19* I use this app to track my dogs walks for fun. The only thing I wish I could do is edit the duration. I often forget to “stop” the walk in the app so my dogs have apparently been on 1hr+ walks. Super minor since I’m the only one looking at it. It does track distance too so that might be tricky to change. Maybe we could have an option to set a “home base” and have a pop up whenever you reach it to ask if you are done with your walk. The owner is then reassured that their fur baby has had a good walk. ### 5/5 — Brilliant! *2021-10-16* Really enjoy using this to track our walks, if I was to make an improvement I would suggest adding a section to say where the dog sniffs so it could be tracked.
