## What is Trading Up TCG?

Trading Up is a collecting-and-economy game built around the best part of trading cards: tearing open a fresh pack and turning it over one card at a time. Two ways to play, and one permanent Binder to track your best pulls over time.

CLASSIC MODE

Buy a pack, rip it, and find out what you got. Six cards - three commons, two uncommons, and a rare or an ultra rare - with a 1% shot at a shimmering foil on any of them. New pulls go into your collection; extras become cash, at the shop's price rather than yours.

- Rip packs. Every pack opens card by card, and the hit slot is always saved for last.
- Sell your extras. The shop buys duplicates back at 75% of market value, and that spread is the thing that will bankrupt you.
- Grade your best. Pay a fee, roll a PSA score. A 10 is a 5x payday and a 1 is a freak 10x jackpot, but anything from 2 to 7 is worth less than the card you put in.
- Cash in bonuses. Complete an evolution line for a payout; complete a whole set for a much bigger one.

Collect all 250 cards across five sets and you're a Master Collector. Fall below the price of the cheapest pack with no way left to raise it and you're tapped out.

GAUNTLET MODE

A roguelike run built from the same DNA as Classic Mode. Pick a Trainer, then push a growing Showcase past a rising Aura target - round after round, on a limited number of rips. Keep a pull to score it or sell it to fund the next; run out of rips below the bar and the run ends.

- Earn a roster of six Trainers, each an archetype with its own five-skill graph, then clear a Hard tier run with them all to reveal a hidden seventh.
- Attune Catalysts - run-long buff cards across six element lanes that stack into real builds.
- Finish evolution lines in your Showcase for huge Aura multipliers.
- Climb three difficulty tiers, each unlocked per Trainer, to a Collection Championship finale.
- Win and choose a Foil Extended Art card - a full-bleed alternate illustration - as your prize.

THE BINDER

A permanent trophy case: one slot per Spryte, each holding the single most valuable copy you've ever owned - across every Classic and Gauntlet run. Where a run resets, the Binder only ever grows: pull a foil, land a PSA 10, claim some Extended Art, and the best copy is stamped in for good.

UNLOCK THE FULL GAME

- Set 1 - Emberfall is free to play in full in Classic Mode: rip, sell, grade and chase the set bonus across all 50 cards. One optional one-time purchase unlocks the other four sets, the 250-card finish and Gauntlet Mode - the only thing you can ever buy.
- No ads, no tracking, no subscriptions.
- No real-money packs and no gambling. You never spend real money on a random pull; the only currency inside the game is fictional.
- No account, no sign-in, and no data collected. Your collection lives on your device and nowhere else.
- Plays offline, on both iPhone and iPad.

### 5/5 — Once you pop the fun don’t stop

*2026-09-02*

Between opening new decks, grading your cards, there is always something fun going on. A great distraction to open a new pack and see if you pull an ultra rare. Excited to play more

### 5/5 — MY SON LOVES THIS GAME!

*2026-09-01*

Got this game for my son for long car rides, dentist waiting rooms, attending live TED TALKS, amusement park lines, waiting for your triple dipper at Chili’s (PS: go with the Honey-Chipotle Crispers), etc. and boy oh boy does he love it. The animations and trading up to collect all the cards is so much fun. We are hoping the cards become physical so we can buy and collect them for our binders.

It’s clear that the creator Gregory likes fun because he made a fun app. My son actually speaks better English than me, and this app has improved my English immensely.

My son turns 5 months next week, and he is very excited for the new updates!

### 5/5 — Excellent game

Good luck to anyone beating my record of 187 packs!

### 5/5 — Very fun

Once I started playing this, I couldn’t put it down. Good luck to anyone hoping to beat my personal record of beating the game in under 188 packs!

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.2.2 — 2026-09-19

- Smarter Gauntlet pack summaries: Half-filled pips now indicate when another card in an evolution series is available in the current pack, helping you spot more possibilities at a glance.
- Easier bulk actions in Classic: Improved grading and selling controls in the Collection tab make it simpler to grade or sell multiple cards at once.

### 1.2.1 — 2026-09-14

NEW SOUNDS
Original background music gives Classic and Gauntlet their own feel, alongside refreshed sound effects for pack rips, rare pulls, grading, Catalysts, and victories. Separate Music and SFX volume controls let you adjust the mix or mute either with one tap.

PACK OPENING, YOUR WAY
- Swipe left or right to tear open packs, with a new animated finger guide and cleaner tear animation.
- Prefer tapping? Enable “Tap to open packs” in Settings.
- Want to get straight to your decisions? Enable “Auto open packs” to skip the animation and card-by-card reveals after opening. You still choose what to keep, sell, or swap.

GAUNTLET REFINEMENTS
- Last-chance grading: running out of rips no longer ends your run while you can still afford to grade an ungraded Showcase card.
- Preview the whole Showcase’s Aura change and evolution-series progress before confirming a swap.
- Swapping now discards the replaced card without paying cash. Selling an undecided pull still earns cash.
- Retuned Hard-mode Aura targets to balance the updated flow.
- Clearer Rips Left counters throughout pack opening, improved shop balances and earnings displays, and streamlined next-round previews.
- Catalyst offers now appear first in pack summaries to help you plan your decisions.
- Grading results stay visible until dismissed before the round advances.

MORE POLISH
- Reopen Classic’s How to Play from the shop without restarting your run.
- Improved victory sharing in both modes: share just the picture, with a proper image preview and no extra message or link.
- Cleaner pack summaries and Gauntlet game-over screens, larger decision buttons, and improved Reduce Motion support.
- Fixed outdated “Coming soon” messaging for Gauntlet.

### 1.2.0 — 2026-09-01

GAUNTLET MODE
A brand-new roguelike way to play. Pick a Trainer, then push a growing Showcase past a rising Aura target - round after round, on a limited number of pack rips. Every pull is a live keep-for-score vs. sell-for-cash decision. Gauntlet Mode features:
- A roster of six Trainers, each an archetype with its own five-skill graph. Most are earned by hitting lifetime milestones; clear a Hard tier run with them all to reveal a hidden seventh.
- Catalysts - run-long buff cards across five element lanes that stack into real builds: more foils, better grades, cheaper rips, increased card value.
- Finish an evolution line in your Showcase for a huge Aura swing; later sets pay off far harder.
- Three difficulty tiers, each unlocked per Trainer, climbing to a Collection Championship finale.
- Win a run and choose one of three Foil Extended Art cards - a full-bleed alternate illustration - as your prize.

THE BINDER
Your permanent showcase: one slot per Spryte, each holding the single most valuable copy you've ever owned - across every Classic run and every Gauntlet run. It only ever grows, so starting a fresh run never erases your greatest hits.

CLASSIC MODE POLISH
- A redesigned Stats dashboard with improved "This Run" and "All Time" views.
- Cleaner pack summaries with inline Keep / Sell and grading straight from the haul.
- Centralized settings and run restarts from the main menu.

Note: Gauntlet Mode and Classic Mode sets 2-5 are part of the one-time Full Collection unlock. Set 1 - Emberfall in Classic Mode stays free. Still no ads, no tracking, no accounts - and it all plays offline.

### 1.1.0 — 2026-08-28

- A new, permanent Binder that tracks your highest value pulls over time, including foil and grade multipliers.
- New main menu with a placeholder for a new "Gauntlet Mode" that's coming soon.
- In Classic Mode, a new Settings tab is now separate from the Stats tab.

### 1.0.1 — 2026-08-27

• Grade any card. Send any card off for a PSA grade — no longer just rares and ultras. Chase a PSA 10 (or gamble on a freak PSA 1 jackpot) on anything in your binder.
• Retuned Collector Ranks. The end-of-run rank now rewards a tighter game — wrap up your collection in fewer packs to climb the grades, all the way to a flawless S.
• Cleaner stats. Your collection progress now sits with This Run, tidying up the All Time view.

Thanks for playing Trading Up TCG!
