Speed test The speed test of the Traffic Monitor shows you the speed and latency of your UMTS, LTE, NR and Wi-Fi network on a speedometer, separated into upload, download and ping speed. After each test you receive an assessment of your result, comparing it to users in your region. So you can find out if you surf the net faster or slower than the rest of the world. All speed tests are archived with all details and can be accessed anytime and viewed on the integrated map view. The archived data helps you to recognize speed variations quickly. Data usage Monitor your data usage in a self-specified period of time. Therefore you can set all your details of your data plan like the starting date of your billing period or your maximal data allowance. So you are always well-informed because Traffic Monitor warns you if you have exceeded your specified data volume. The all new Today Extension (Widget) gives you the opportunity to check your current data usage using the Notification Center. Our latest release allows you to automatically track your data usage on a map, even when you are not actively using Traffic Monitor. You can activate and deactivate the background location feature at any time on the app's settings page. You may recognize a permanent navigation needle in your status bar when the background location is enabled. Please note that the GPS is not permanently on in that case. Your iPhone just informs the Traffic Monitor application when your location has changed significantly (e.g. during your way to the office). I set the daily for 1/30 of my monthly plan, and I might think of how many times I’ve exceeded the daily before I proceed with a download. This app has alerted me many times when I’m on the wrong connection for downloads. That said, it is not highly accurate, just good enough. I’ve never seen it agree to my carrier’s totals- but maybe my carrier is off. I suspect this is a limitation of iOS, not the dev. One feature I would like added is tracking by Wi-Fi connection, assuming iOS even allows that. I have a metered Wi-Fi hotspot device and a 4glte router in my RV, and unlimited data at home, but all three are combined as one Wi-Fi connection. I know it couldn’t account for all the devices using the connection, but I’d still like to see what this one uses. ### 1/5 — Missing widgets in iOS 18.7 *2025-09-20, version 10.7* I don’t have the option for traffic monitor widgets when I upgraded to iOS 18.7 from iOS 17.7.2. I miss it ### 5/5 — Great free phone data measuring app *2025-09-13, version 10.7* Its free and measures data usage. Daily, monthly. Easy to use. Can do speed test with location. Its actually pretty good. The only thing some may like to know, is in regards to the fine measuring point seems to be when you checked in. Which puts some of the data on the wrong side of time if you are chasing minute data observations. I van live with that though, as its not a problem on the monthly data tracking. Several menu options regards tracking and its really great. Monthly data in app compared to my phone providers count is not exact but quote close. (Considering the way data is measured by the providers it may even account for the differences anyway).
