Great app for finding trails and conditions near me, especially trails that may not belong to our local cycling association.

### 5/5 — Question about riding regions

### 5/5 — Great app

*2024-03-12, version 3.0.2*

Updates right away and sorts to my preferences. Love the one stop shop for trail conditions in my area.

### 5/5 — Great

*2024-02-17*

Great app. Glad to see it growing. There is no option to filter the list by state anymore. I miss that. Helps with planning and reduces scrolling. Also, in map view, it only shows conditions for the state you have selected regardless of where you've panned to. Would love to see a state filter brought back to the list and removed from the map.

**Developer response:** Thanks for the feedback! There will be a better Browse by Location option in the future just ran out of time for this version.

### 5/5 — Amazing

*2024-02-05, version 3.0.2*

So grateful for this app! All updates in one place rather than having to check numerous fb pages is such an improvement

### 5/5 — At A Glance Excellent

*2023-11-24, version 2.7.0*

Really like this app.
Nice to see the conditions for your favorite trails at a glance. Simple interface (by simple, I mean elegant), good UX, no fuss or unnecessary complexity. True at a glance information. Nice job.

### 5/5 — I use it before every ride!

*2023-09-19*

Really cool app that keeps you informed on the conditions of all your favorite trails in one easy to use location.

### 5/5 — Every trail system needs this app!

*2023-08-19*

I have dreamed about having an app like this for at least 10 years, so when Trailbot was announced I was very excited. I worried that it wouldn’t get the necessary traction from trail management teams, but so far it seems to have proven itself to both riders and maintainers!

My only wish for this app right now is being able to see a trail map in the app, but Trailforks is fine for that.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Trailbot no longer works with iPhone 15

*2024-01-21, version 2.7.0*

The app does not function on IPhone 15 but worked well on my previous IPhone 8. Please update the app.

### 1/5 — Crashes on IPhone 7

*2023-12-07, version 2.7.0*

Would love to use the app, I hear great things. Unfortunately it won’t open on my phone, just crashes and closes. iPhone 7, IOS 15.8.

### 1/5 — App has been frozen for a few weeks now

*2022-01-11, version 1.6.7*

Like the app, but it is not working on my iPhone, despite a couple re-download attempts on the app. The intro page is frozen on my screen.

### 3/5 — Helpful app, but I have to restart every time

*2024-05-03, version 3.1.3*

Love it, but I have to restart it every time I want to use it. On the initial open, it just hangs on the green Trailbot loading screen, and never advances. After a force close and reopen, it loads up immediately.

### 3/5 — Preferred MORC trails app

*2022-02-17*

Can pin trails, but the pinned ones are unsorted. All other trails are sorted by recency of updates which means you have to search for the “lesser” trails. MORC app was one stop shopping for a quick update. Not sure what they were thinking with this.

Update in response to the developer response:
Thanks for the response and didn’t mean to offend by “what they were thinking” as I literally couldn’t determine much advantage as compared to the one page view in the old MORC app. Really want to know what trails are open as the first priority of using these apps. A one pager was already great. I appreciate the later responses which help to get back to a more consolidated and sorted view. Adding a star for the response and support, but still can’t understand the initial app clutter and choice to sort based on recent trail reports. Start concise by trail and allow the user to expand to the trail reports would be my suggestion. The big advantage of this app is it covers more trails, so I can see how you went that initial direction.

**Developer response:** Pinned ones are sorted by the same criteria used for the non-pinned ones. If you’re seeing something different, please email me hi@trailbot.com and I’ll look into it.

As far as “what were they thinking”: I am just a rider—like you—who wanted to try to make finding out when I can ride just a little easier. I do it for free, in my limited spare time. Negative reviews like this without you having even tried to get in touch to give me a chance to fix things really sting. I’m sorry this free community service is not up to your standards.

### 3/5 — I prefer the older app

*2021-05-19, version 1.3.1*

I prefer the simplicity of the previous MORC app. There was better overview page with all the trails. The font was bigger, skim-ability was easier too.

### 4/5 — Garbage in- garbage out

*2026-04-29*

Trailbot is a great idea and a very easy to use app. I like being able to look in a variety of trails, even in different states.
It relies, of course, on how often the trail stewards update the conditions. If that’s not happening then the whole system doesn’t work.
I have tried to use the function in the app to push for an update but with limited (or not visible) success. Thats my only ding on this app.

**Developer response:** Hi there, thanks for the review. I have built reminders and other gentle nudges into the system so that trail managers update more often. The "Thanks" and Checkin functions also go a long way to show trail managers that you're seeing and appreciating their updates. Beyond that, most trail managers are volunteers with limited time. Trailbot has dramatically increased the regularity of updates for the majority of the trail systems using the app, but it will never be perfect. I'd recommend getting to know your local trail stewards better by volunteering at work days or other events which may encourage more regular updates, give you the access to make updates yourself, or help you understand why updates might not be happening as often as you'd like.

### 4/5 — Great but needs community feedback on status

*2024-11-11*

The app is simple and does what it says: tells you the latest status of a trail (so long as someone is updating the status regularly). It would be 5 stars if it allowed users to post comments on trail conditions to share locations of downed trees, standing water, or whatever. Is this coming in the future? App feels unfinished without this.

**Developer response:** Hi there, thanks for the feedback. You can report issues for a trail system, tap the Flag icon and the report will go directly to trail managers. In the future trail managers will have the option to make issue reports public with comments. Please feel free to email me your feedback directly any time at hi@trailbot.com. This is a 1-person side-project, so I try to add features whenever I can based on the feedback I receive. -John

### 4/5 — Great App - Minor Feedback

*2021-05-13, version 1.3.1*

The app is excellent, and serves a huge need in MN. My only feedback is can we get a search function?

### 4/5 — Woolly

*2021-04-22, version 1.1.7*

Great app. Had all the trails I want you o know about except woolly. Can you add it???

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great app

*2026-04-03, version 4.0.0*

Our go-to to check on trail conditions and status.

### 5/5 — Awesome app!

*2026-04-02*

Love this app and the improvements that have been added. It’s my go to before heading out on a ride. Trail conditions are always updated with the latest info.

### 5/5 — Great work!

*2025-07-01, version 3.6.4*

The updates from this app are integral to my enjoyment of the trail system at Theodore Wirth. Thank you so much for all the work you do!

### 5/5 — Five Stars

*2025-05-30*

I love this app the fact that it’s always there and is super accurate is so nice. I also love that it’s locally owned by a bike shop and there’s no fee. I’ll be using this the rest of my mountain biking experience!

### 5/5 — So thankful!

*2025-04-29*

I am a trail manager in MN and I’m so thankful that Trailbot exists! Trailbot makes it really easy for us trail managers to communicate with the mountain biking community as far as closures and other information that we need to put out. I honestly don’t know how we would do such a good job of communicating information without it! As a mountain biker I am also really grateful that I can get up to date info on the trails I’m going to ride. Trailbot is awesome! Thanks Trailbot!!

**Developer response:** ❤️

### 5/5 — Useful

*2025-04-15, version 3.5.6*

Great source for up to date local trail conditions.

### 5/5 — Makes my life so easy!

*2025-03-20, version 3.5.1*

No more wasted trips or phone calls

### 5/5 — It happened!

*2024-10-09*

I’m pretty familiar with Trailbot since I am a volunteer and have updated our trail status. It’s such a great tool for us volunteers to update and receive trail reports from riders.

Today I was riding elsewhere in the state at a trail I don’t follow (shout out Pincushion up on the MN north shore) and came across a downed tree. Pulled out my phone, found the trail, and filed a report with the location and photo of the tree all in about a minute.

One thing that may be nice is to make location sharing the default on reports? I assume it wouldn’t work if you didn’t have service at the time, but I had to remember to click the button. It’s helpful for trail managers to have that info.

### 5/5 — Use it all the time

*2024-08-02, version 3.3.0*

This is a great resource to check on trail status and to be sure we are not tearing up the trails.

### 5/5 — A fantastic resource for mountain bikers

*2024-07-06, version 3.1.7*

I appreciate getting up-to-date trail conditions in the region. A must for mountain bikers!
