## What is TrailSafe?

TrailSafe is a genuinely local, privacy-first GPS track recorder: no servers, no account, no ads, and no telemetry. It keeps recording even when your screen is locked or the app is in the background. Every location point stays on your device and is excluded from iCloud device backups by default. Export standard GPX files in raw or smoothed form, import tracks from other apps, drop waypoints, view elevation profiles, and recover unfinished recordings automatically. Made for hikers, trail runners and mountain bikers who value privacy. Works fully offline — your tracks always belong to you.

## Version history (last 3 releases)

### 3.0 — 2026-09-30

What's new: track maps. See the route you walked and where your waypoints are, right on the track page — view it full screen, tap a waypoint for its time and altitude, or jump straight to it (viewing the map needs a network connection).

### 2.0 — 2026-09-22

Waypoints now have types (campsite, water source, viewpoint, custom) and can be edited or deleted. While recording you'll see your waypoints and their distance from the start, with haptic feedback and one-tap undo. The elevation profile marks each waypoint and supports pinch-zoom and panning. Recording starts with one tap — rename during or after the walk. Plus several chart display fixes.
