## What is TrailTimer?

Time race days on your own land, with your own crew, in the woods behind the house. Drive your loop once, slowly, and TrailTimer places the checkpoints for you. Tap START and race it the same afternoon. Every run is logged, and the leaderboard updates before your helmet is off.

No account. No sign-up. No email, no password, no ads. Trade a short code with your buddies and your whole crew is on the same clock, on the same leaderboard.

NEW WITH APPLE INTELLIGENCE AND iOS 27
Finish a run and your debrief is waiting: what happened on each leg and one thing to try next time. It's free, and your phone writes it even with no signal. Ask your results in plain words, like "what's my best lap here this month?" Every fault code gets a plain-words line saying what it means. Organizers get a day recap to send the crew. When you have signal it uses Apple's Private Cloud Compute, and nothing comes to us. On iOS 27 your crew's times also fit an extra-large home screen widget.

SEE WHAT YOUR MACHINE IS DOING
Plug an inexpensive Bluetooth adapter into your machine's diagnostic connector and your speed, RPM, and engine vitals show up right on the timing screen. Most side-by-sides don't have the 16-pin car-style OBD port, and they don't need one: TrailTimer reads Polaris, Honda, Can-Am, Yamaha, John Deere, Kawasaki and other powersports machines off the connector they do have. Some machines need a pigtail cable to reach it, and some can't be read at all. Our site lists which machines work and which never will.

FIND A LOOP NEAR YOU
Search public trails and published courses around you, preview the terrain in 3D, and import one in a tap. In national forests you'll see which machines the Forest Service allows on a route, and when. Public trails come from OpenStreetMap, so check land access before you race.

BUILT FOR RACE DAY WITH YOUR CREW
You're the one who organizes it AND the one trying to win it. Line up the running order, watch riders on a live map while you wait your turn, and see times land on the leaderboard the moment they finish.

BUILT FOR THE TREES
Trees, canyons, and jacket pockets make other GPS apps struggle. TrailTimer shows you honest signal health before you launch, and if the signal blinks mid-run it recovers the missed checkpoints in order when it comes back, instead of throwing the run away.

GLANCE WITHOUT UNLOCKING
Your running time, checkpoint count, and gap to your personal best stay live on the Lock Screen, and in the Dynamic Island on iPhones that have one.

RELIVE EVERY RUN IN 3D
Watch a flyover of your run over real terrain, with the actual line you drove and an elevation profile of the climb.

RESULTS THAT SETTLE IT
Leaderboards, split times, personal bests, and head-to-head comparisons, with like-for-like class filters so a 250 two-stroke isn't racing a 450.

FOR THE BUILDERS: DIY CHECKPOINT TIMING
Build the TrailTimer reader for about $250-350 in parts: one USB-powered unit that rides on your machine, with an antenna on the side. Then mark the course with cheap waterproof RFID tags. Every tag you pass is clocked automatically, out of sight of the start line: transponder timing like the big races run. Nothing to buy off the shelf yet; the build guide is on our site.

WORKS WAY OUT THERE
No cell signal needed. Everything works offline in the dirt and syncs when you're back in range.

WHAT YOU NEED
• An iPhone. That's it: GPS timing works with no extra hardware.
• Optional: a Bluetooth OBD adapter for live gauges and fault codes

Free to time, score, and share. Your last 30 days of results are free. TrailTimer Pro keeps your full history forever, publishes unlimited tracks, and adds gauge notes to your debrief, a season review for each course, and the post-run deep dive. THE DEBRIEF IS FREE NOW
All of it. The story of your run, the note on each leg, and the tip for next time, for everyone. Finish a run with no signal and your phone writes it. Once you're back in signal it gets a better write-up, and your times and PBs stay exactly what you heard at the line.

ASK YOUR RESULTS
"What was my best lap at the loop this month?" Tap the sparkle on Results and ask in plain words. It answers from your own runs.

GAUGES & CODES, ONE SCREEN
Adapter setup and the Code Reader are now one screen, Gauges & Codes, and it tells you up front what your machine can give: gauges, codes, or both. When you've got signal, each code gets a line under it saying what it actually means. It still won't tell you what to replace. That's your dealer's call.

A BETTER CALL AT THE START LINE
The start-line call is ready before you lose signal at the trailhead, it knows which direction you're running, and if a friend holds the fastest lap in your class it tells you the time to beat.

DAY RECAP FOR ORGANIZERS
Close out a group day and you can send the crew a recap: every course, the fastest times, and who set their first time. Free.

FOR PRO
Plug in your adapter and the debrief adds a line per leg from your gauges: where you were flat out, how high the RPM went, how hot it ran. And once you have five runs on a course over three days, Results offers a season review: which legs are getting quicker, which aren't, and how you stack up against your friends on each one.

FOREST SERVICE RULES, RIGHT ON THE COURSE
Import a trail or open one of your courses in a national forest, and if it follows a Forest Service road or trail you'll see which machines are allowed on it and when, straight from the Forest Service's own map. Riding outside the season? You'll see that before you hit START.

STUCK ON "ACQUIRING GPS"?
If GPS sits there at the trailhead, the app now tells you the thing that usually fixes it: Airplane Mode on and off in Control Center.

Plus: an extra-large Friends' Runs widget on iOS 27, the rider dot on the map uses the app's own GPS so it can't get pulled onto the nearest road, guided gauge setup stops offering you a signal you already said was wrong, the first callout no longer freezes the countdown for a beat, the 3D flyover isn't too dark anymore (forests were coming out black), and Discover keeps trying when the trail server is busy instead of coming up empty.

Ask, the recap, the Pro write-ups and the code lines need an iPhone with Apple Intelligence turned on.

YOUR CREW ON THE HOME SCREEN
Two new widgets: Friends' Runs shows the latest times from the riders you follow, and Next Event counts down to your next group day. Long-press your home screen, add TrailTimer, done.

READ YOUR MACHINE'S CODES
That check-engine light finally talks. The new Code Reader in Setup shows the fault codes your machine is broadcasting, over the same Bluetooth adapter that runs your live gauges, with plain-language names where we know them. Read-only on purpose: it tells you what's wrong, it doesn't pretend clearing it fixes anything.

THE WEATHER RIDES ALONG
Every run now remembers the conditions it was driven in. When the post-run debrief compares today against last week, it can finally point at the reason: colder, wetter, windier, and by how much.

THE ANNOUNCER FOUND ITS VOICE
Pick the announcer voice in Race Settings and preview it before race day. The countdown lands on the beat every time now, the intro finishes what it starts all the way through GO, and the start-line call mixes it up from run to run.

TELL SIRI TO START TIMING
Start and stop timing, ask for your best lap, or your last run, from Siri or the Shortcuts app. Say start, cross your start line, and you're racing.

Plus the Lock Screen race card now fits every phone it lands on, and an armed start that never fires cleans itself up instead of lingering.

YOU'LL KNOW WHEN A RECORD FALLS
When a friend takes first place on a course you were leading, TrailTimer notifies you. Lives with the other sharing controls in Setup › Friends if you'd rather not know.

EASIER COURSE MAP EDITING
Every gate on one screen: tap a pin to move it, add a gate at the crosshair, or remove one you don't need. New gates snap onto your driven route and drop into the right spot in the running order. Big changes still ask before touching your record book.

RECENT IS A FEED NOW
Best and Recent now switch right at the top of the page, a Clear chip sweeps your filters in one tap, and re-tapping Results in the dock steps you back out to the full board.

RECORDING A COURSE SURVIVES A LOCKED SCREEN
The one a tester reported: driving a course to record it now keeps the screen awake, and keeps recording even if the screen does lock. If GPS truly drops mid-drive, TrailTimer flags the gap and lets you re-drive it or keep the clean stretch, instead of quietly placing checkpoints on ground it never saw.

A STRAIGHTER ANSWER FROM THE GPS PILL
If Precise Location is off, the pill now says so and offers an Open Settings button, instead of "Acquiring GPS…" forever for a fix that can't come. And when Low Power Mode is what's slowing the GPS lock, TrailTimer explains that too.

PRO THEMES, NOW ON THE MAPS
Summit, Fireweed, and Recon now re-skin the course and race maps to match: steel mono, dusty rose, and a field-map look that goes olive drab after dark.

### 0.95 — 2026-07-26

FIX: CREW TIMES NOW SHOW IN RESULTS
The one you reported: friends' shared times were syncing but never surfacing. Your crew's runs now land on your Results page everywhere you'd expect them — the Recent feed, every leaderboard, and circuit standings — ranked right alongside your own. And a run you delete now leaves your friends' boards too, even one deleted while you were offline.

YOUR RUN, DEBRIEFED
Finish a run and TrailTimer now breaks it down while it still matters: where you gained, where you gave it back, leg by leg against your own best. A one-line verdict can be read aloud as you roll off the course, and every run's debrief lives on its detail page — including older runs, any time you ask. TrailTimer Pro adds AI sector notes and a coaching tip on top; the numbers are free for everyone.

FOLLOW THE COURSE
A third Live Run background joins Map and Clean: Follow keeps the course map up front with a compact clock, and the camera tracks you while you race. Your full splits come back the moment you finish. Pick it in Race Setup.

ONE MACHINE, ONE RECORD BOOK
When a friend shares a machine you already have in your garage, TrailTimer offers to merge the duplicates — every run, record, and posted result moves onto one vehicle. A manual Merge Into… lives in the vehicle editor for changed minds.

A TIDIER TRACK LIBRARY
Big libraries now shelve themselves — Favorites, My Tracks, From Friends, Discovered — and a new Clean Up Unused Tracks sweep offers to clear tracks with no runs and months of dust. Nothing is deleted without your say-so.

FIXES AND POLISH
• Restoring from iCloud no longer brings back things you deliberately deleted — and a new option brings them back on purpose when that's what you want.
• Choose what Results opens to: your defaults for sort and filters now stick.
• Event and share names are screened for language that doesn't belong on a family group day.

YOUR DATA COMES BACK
Reinstalled TrailTimer, or set up a new iPhone? The app now checks iCloud the moment you open it and pulls your courses, machines, and every result back down — and tells you exactly what it found instead of starting you over on an empty screen. Restored courses draw the real line you surveyed, and your race history lands in Results where it belongs.

Setup › Data & Sync also gains a permanent Backup section: restore from iCloud whenever you want, or push everything on this phone up so your backup is complete — including older data that predates syncing.

A QUIETER AUTO MODE
Race Settings adds "Require Vehicle Telemetry." Turn it on and the "Start timing?" nudge only appears when your machine's OBD adapter is connected — so driving past a course in the tow rig stays silent. Trailer in and it still pings you the moment you turn the key.

MORE PLACES TO RIDE
Discover now finds motorsport facilities — kart tracks, raceways, motocross parks — plus numbered forest roads that carry no name at all. If the trail database is busy or slow, the search now rolls over to a backup server instead of coming back empty-handed.

FIXES AND POLISH
• The Lock Screen race card no longer clips, and now draws the shape of the course you're running.
• After a run, "move this checkpoint?" shows a map: where the gate sits now, the line you actually drove, and where it would move to.
• Head-to-head run comparisons end where the data ends instead of trailing off into empty space.
• The supported-vehicles list now shows a red seal when we've confirmed a machine can't be read, rather than a green one that looked like good news.
• Runs on a few more iPhones than before.
