### 5/5 — Love it but enhancement possibility?

*2021-03-20*

I LOVE this app!! It is absolutely perfect for my hit workouts at the gym but I wish that I could have this app on my Apple Watch so my phone could remain in my bag at all times. I highly recommend this out to everyone who is looking for a app to count time for them as well as reps per slide and hands but they would make this 1000 times better is having it available on Apple watches or any type of smart watch.

**Developer response:** Thank you for the kind review, we really appreciate the feedback and honest thoughts. We are glad you brought this up. We are currently designing a new version of TrainCentric that will include many new features. We are hoping to launch it late 2021. We are a super small start up with limited resources so unfortunately we can't move quicker. We have an Apple Watch feature on our list. Feel free to email us at info@traincentricapp.com if you have any further feedback or questions :)

### 5/5 — Purchased 9.99 upgrade for personalized workouts

*2020-11-24, version 4.2.8*

Great app when it’s working. I already purchased the 9.99 upgrade. Now every time I try to add more then 2 workouts, it tell me I need to purchase. I was frustrated and wanted to workout so I tried to purchase the upgrade again and it wouldn’t let me do that either..

### 5/5 — Awesome!!!

*2020-10-15, version 4.2.6*

Amazing app to keep workouts

### 5/5 — Great app but some suggestions to make it better?

*2020-09-11, version 4.2.6*

- Would be nice to introduce a way to override the countdown during the exercise in case you finish the exercise sooner, you want to change the timings or do exercises more quickly

- add a function for introducing different timings for things like rest pause training or drop sets

- keep adding more exercises in the “library” as I’ve had to add a few myself that weren’t Listed.

Thank you!

### 5/5 — Best app ever

*2020-07-10, version 4.2.4*

Please download this app if you want to get fit and also gym work is the best using this app.

### 5/5 — Game changer

*2020-05-30, version 4.2.2*

This app has made my work outs so much more effective- introducing tempo, ensuring I stay on pace and keeping rep count so I can listen to great podcast and have great workout at the same time!!

### 5/5 — LOVE

*2020-03-21, version 4.1.5*

I use this app everyday to track my reps/sets and weight. Love it!

### 5/5 — Perfect

*2020-03-17, version 4.1.4*

I have always been an advocate for focusing on time under tension while lifting, and this app is amazing! I thought I was good at keeping a consistent count but I was sooo wrong. Highly recommended!

### 5/5 — Incredible - Finally Accountability Lifting!

*2020-02-09, version 4.1.3*

Finally an app to help me be more effective, consistent, and accountable in my work outs to guide me through full reps w time under tension. The pumps are already better than anything ive done on my own. Amazed!!

### 5/5 — Fantastic App

*2019-10-15, version 3.5.12*

This app really holds me accountable with my workouts and gains are off the charts. This app is definitely a game changer!

### 5/5 — So far...SO GREAT!!!🤘🏽

*2019-10-13, version 3.5.12*

I just used this app for the first time and...let me tell you...GET IT IF YOU WANT TO TAKE YOUR MUSCLE GAINS TO THE NEXT LEVEL. I am grateful to the developers of this app. It makes focusing on the actual workout much easier because you aren’t busy counting reps and tempo, which can be burdensome and inaccurate. LOVE IT!

### 5/5 — Humble Homicide

*2019-08-16*

I’ve been a trainer for a few years and have trained with numerous people and everyone has their own style. I’m a big fan of quality reps vs quantity. This app fits my style beautifully. It doesn’t matter how light you go, the tempo makes it incredibly difficult. All momentum is removed and your muscles are under load the entire time! I love the voice audio feature as well. I can have my headphones in and not have to worry about making the screen in eye sight. I haven’t had a bad workout yet while using this app!

### 5/5 — This is the one!

*2019-08-10, version 3.5.5*

This is the complete package for me. Form, pace, rest and complete workouts are all here. It’s changed everything and I am seeing gains I had never seen before. I’ve gotten more from this free app and than so called personal trainers at a box gym costing hundreds. Btw..get their magnet, too.

### 5/5 — Challenge Yourself

*2019-08-02, version 3.5.4*

This is the best app that allows you to slow down and really think about the movement. It burns me out every time!

### 5/5 — Game Changer

*2019-07-24, version 3.5.4*

I came across this app on Jill Christines Instagram page and it took all but 1 minute of using the app to fall in love! Extremely helpful! It’s so easy to rush through sets and reps, this allows you to experience a true lift!!!! LOVE! Thank you!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Unable to sign up

*2025-03-19, version 4.2.8*

Unable to sign up

### 2/5 — No way to send feed back/ no examples of exercise

*2018-07-08*

I enjoyed all the options the app provided for me ( a beginner) but there was no examples of how to perform the exercises correctly, and no way to send feedback to the developers. As a beginner I would like to make sure I’m doing the exercises correctly and avoiding injury while building muscle. Since there are no examples I will need to look the exercises up online. That's not cool at all. I wrote an email using the feedback link, but once I wrote the email the send button wouldn’t light up. I have deleted the app I hope I'm not charged since I deleted the app in less than a day of use.

**Developer response:** Hello,

Thank you for the feedback. Not sure why your feedback button was not working but feel free to reach out to info@traincentric.fitness with any concerns. As for how to do exercises properly. Each exercise has a form link near the bottom of the exercise screen that forwards you to an instagram post. These various posts gives you step by step directions on how to perform it safely and efficiently. Our platform is not designed to teach you how to perform and exercise, we aim to change up your current routine and make it more efficient to tear your muscle fibers and maximizing your time in the gym. Our mission is to help people in the gym take advantage of time under tension and progressive overload to maximize their results, not necessarily teach the users correct form. As for the safety, our platform slows all your repetitions down so injury is dramatically minimized if you control the weight. Thanks for checking us out!

### 3/5 — Some exceptional unique features but missing others

*2020-01-31, version 4.1.3*

This app is exceptional at capturing some minutiae of lifting such as tempo, audio and visual tempo cues and has a pretty good and appealing interface but lacks two major features for which I take a star off for each: 1. Lacks Apple Health synchronization 2. Workout history is available but interacting with it and viewing previous workouts is obfuscated and hard to interact with. Other than that, a great fitness app that is worthy of purchase and being your main lifting app.

### 4/5 — Neglected ?

*2024-03-06, version 4.2.8*

Has this app been neglected?

### 4/5 — Add ATG exercises, SaltWrap.com, Becoming A Supple Leopard, and Free+Style exercises from the book.

*2022-07-08, version 4.2.8*

This app is a phenomenal app. I didn’t realize how important slow tempo exercises are for the rehabilitation of the muscles. The user interface is super clean and intuitive. I wanted to give a 5 star, but I wanted to get the attention of the developers.

An awesome addition would be to add the exercises from Ben Patrick’s ATG system, Scott Hogan’s Built from Broken book, Kelly Starett’s Becoming a Supple Leopard book, and Carl Paoli’s Free+Style book. In addition, you should add general mobility exercises that effective. I recognize you don’t want to clutter the different categories with random exercises, so you could add a portal for the extra exercises and call it mobility.

I haven’t used the HIIT section yet, but I’m mostly gonna switch over from the other app I use.

### 4/5 — Good app.

*2022-01-16, version 4.2.8*

I would add a couple of things for user friendliness. Some of the exercises have a voice count some don’t. That is a bit odd. Also, the ability to track more about my workout would be good. Otherwise, this app is really good and I will continue to use it.

### 4/5 — Love this app to keep up training intensity

*2019-05-15, version 3.0.4*

Update: the developer was super responsive to my initial review! He reached out I immediately and I haven’t had issues since. I have plenty of feedback to make this app even better but overall am happy and will continue to use it! 🤗

I love using the app for slow gym days where I don’t have to wait for equipment and I can breeze thru from one exercise to the next. My trainer has specific tempos for my workouts for level of intensity and I love that I can program tempo into this app! Keeping the correct tempo (slower) actually makes the workouts more challenging and I realized I’ve been going too fast.

I was impressed with the variety of workouts already preset in the app. There were very few workouts I had to add in.

The beat sounds indicating audible reps work well since it doesn’t interrupt my workout music, and I can hear the tempo I should be keeping.

The countdown of reps during a set is cool, but I actually would like the option to reverse the count (I prefer to count up instead of down for my reps).

I would like to set my weight at the beginning of a workout. Currently, I’ve noticed (when doing hip thrusts) it defaults or doesn’t set a weight (not sure which) but prompts to update the weight I’m using upon the next set. Once the first set was completed, I couldn’t find a way to update the weight I actually used for the first set.

Scheduling time between exercises doesn’t work for me when I go to a busy gym and have to wait for equipment. I also wish I could easily move around workouts based on what equipment/workout station is available during my sets. I’m not always able to execute my workout in the order that I preset it in.

I’m not a fan of the man voice saying concentric/eccentric during the ab exercises so I don’t program that in and just pause the app to do my crunches and sit-ups. Inhale/exhale would be more useful for me. (possibly show text showing concentric/eccentric on the app?)

Initial review: App crashes after I put in one workout- I was stoked to use this app bc the concept is exactly what I was looking for! I downloaded app at Emerald Cup and put in my leg day workout to try it out tonight. Although a bit tedious to set up, I was really looking forward to see the transitions from my different workouts. I am headed to the gym and am trying to open the app but it keeps crashing now. I can’t open the app at all. I’ll change my rating as soon as this is fixed.m, hopefully soon 🤞

### 4/5 — Needs Watch Complication

*2019-03-20, version 2.5.5*

Love the concept and love the UI, but the gym is the last place I want to be staring at my phone for the cadence. Building support for a watch app similar to the 'breathe' app would be effective for the same use case.

### 5/5 — I am a G

*2025-01-21, version 4.2.8*

56lbs muscle gained w this app

### 5/5 — Great tool

*2024-05-21, version 4.2.8*

Set up is very intuitive. I use for doing custom at-home physio exercises but I could see using it in a gym as well (you might need earbuds depending on noise level). There are also a range of standard exercises to choose from with built-in time suggestions — all of which can be modified. Very helpful!

## Most praised reviews (8 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Game changer

*2023-11-30, version 4.2.8*

Even though this app hasn’t been updated in 3 years (I believe they are revamping the app for private healthcare usage) this app has changed my relationship to training!

The prompts are so good, it’s very intuitive as you can customise exercises to no end as well as including AMRAP sets.

The choice of verbal countdown, contraction clicks, adding reps and inclusion of tempo is awesome. It would be great to be able to record when a set isn’t completed because it happens sometimes in training!

It’s only 4 stars instead of 5 because creating custom exercises has a bug of not confirming creation.

I love this app and gym bros ask me what I’m using after seeing my form and my phone animation lol

### 5/5 — Best Time Under Tension for The Gym, Rehab, and Dynamic Stretching

*2022-09-17, version 4.2.8*

This app does exactly watch it says it does with and you can use the verbal commands to do the concentric et eccentric. I’ve used it for years with no issues. It offers lots of options to creating your tempo. Their support team is excellent if you ever need help or have an issue. Thank you so much for creating this app. My hope continue to add new features and even more options while keeping the basics of what has worked with this app for years.
