### 3/5 — Timer is a big ask

*2025-08-20, version 3.0.75*

Almost everything is great. Getting the timer function to work like an actual timer (making a sound while in the app) is a big ask for the team. Otherwise, would have been 5 stars.

### 2/5 — Not there yet

*2025-08-20, version 3.0.75*

Very very buggy when it comes to entering the weights, or log in a set. Just bad to use. Sometime it doesn't remember or will log without me pushing the "done" button. Very frustrating.

### 2/5 — Insanely buggy

*2025-06-23*

Been using it for over a year at my trainers insistence. I never make it through a workout with it crashing a few times. When it doesn’t crash it’s buggy and slow. I don’t know what the competitors in this space are like but I can say that this thing is infuriating to use.

Reviews about it being buggy go back years, so guess what they’re not working on?

### 2/5 — My kingdom for an offline mode

*2025-04-04*

I lift in a gym basement. Great equipment, terrible signal, no WiFi. This app is almost unusable. It glitches and crashes without WiFi. I have to track my workout in Strong and update it here for my coach later. This app is worse than split squats.

### 1/5 — Really buggy

*2021-06-21*

This app would be awesome if it works. My phone (running iOS 14.6) can’t get past the login screen. Sometimes if I remove the app and reload it I can get it to work ONCE before it won’t let me log in any more. And often when it works basic functions like clicking buttons to mark sets as finished won’t function. I’m hopeful that the app gets fixed soon, as I’m having to request my workouts be sent over email so I don’t waste my time at the gym fighting my phone (or worse just making up my own workout when the app just won’t work at all). Given that this really isn’t a free app (we pay our trainers and they pay MyStrengthBook) I expect a LOT more.

### 3/5 — Great, when it wants to work

*2021-05-26*

I’ve been using it for a few months now, and while it’s a great app when it works, there have been some frustrating glitches. Woke up this morning to lift, and I can’t even get into the program my coach sent me- the app wouldn’t even let me get past putting my login email.

### 1/5 — Holding my data hostage!

*2020-07-06, version 1.1.216*

I used this app for a few weeks before all of a sudden I am told the “free trial has ended” and I will have to pay them to get access to my data.

Not worth the download.

### 1/5 — Pretty terrible

*2019-11-28*

Tried this for a day. It’s pretty low on features for actually logging your workout. And that one feature doesn’t even work. Saving comments for one day wrote those comments to a previous day. Trying again just overwrote the entered comments still on the wrong day.

I’m sure the data analysis is cool but the data collection is so bad I’ll never know

### 2/5 — Glitchy

*2018-09-11*

Downloaded and started using this today with my coach. Whenever I add a comment to my lift in the notes area within the calendar, the weight I previously entered will change when I save my note and go back to the calendar view. I found myself having to change weights back to my original entry at least a dozen times throughout my workout. Frustrating.

### 1/5 — Good idea, bad production

*2018-09-07*

The idea behind it is solid, but they clearly did not think through the usability of the app. I would not recommend purchasing the app until they get competent developers, which they clearly don’t have.

### 3/5 — Crash and slow

*2018-03-10, version 1.0.166*

I have been looking for app like this for a long time that I can build my own programs then add to the calendar, I love the idea / features of this app also analyzes the program with total lifts, volume, intensity and peak. However, the app is super slow and crash, cannot even load my program after I added to the calendar, even it’s very slow on the desktop version. Should get some better servers. I gave 3 stars because of the features and Legend Jen Thompson.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Too buggy

*2026-04-30*

I’ve been trying to get into the app to do my workout for the past 20 minutes. All it does is load and crash.

### 1/5 — Horribly slow

*2026-01-23, version 3.0.252*

This app doesn’t run in the background and reloads every time you switch apps. Additionally, the loading time is terribly slow (why is there a loading screen for an iOS app in 2026??), which you have to sit through any time you switch apps.

### 1/5 — Buggy

*2025-09-23, version 3.0.108*

This app is atrocious, freezes once a session at least when trying to add workout data or videos and now the app won’t let me log in at all. Website unusable as well.

### 1/5 — Incredibly frustrating

*2025-09-16, version 3.0.99*

This app is good to keep everything in one place for coaching but it doesn’t upload properly from my fitness pal, either incorrect details and calories / sometimes not at all. I constantly have to reinstall due to it freezing.

### 1/5 — My kingdom for an offline mode

*2025-07-30*

Update: downgrading this to one star because where did my calendar go? Why do I have to scroll through the entire month to get to July 30!? This thing is always broken and so it’s not even showing me today is anything other than a rest day , but if I open calendar and scroll all the way down to July 30 I can get training info. Are you kidding me?

I lift in a gym basement. Great equipment, terrible signal, no WiFi. This app is almost unusable. It glitches and crashes without WiFi. I have to track my workout in Strong and update it here for my coach later. This app is worse than split squats.

### 1/5 — CBHS SPORTS

*2025-03-08*

Sports Conditioning

### 1/5 — Plagued w/ bugs

*2024-05-19, version 2.0.657*

Extremely buggy where by reps & weight won’t save properly. It’s a known issue amongst coaches signing clients up on the app. For the price paid it’s very clunky for our clients.

We’ve had to ask clients to manually note down their weights & reps as it’s too buggy.

### 1/5 — Bugs and glitches and inconvenient

*2024-03-21*

Why is there not a version of the app for coaches, how does that make sense?

I have to log on through a web browser and 1/3 of the time it won’t let me get past the login page. Just says it’s loading for ~5 minutes and then nothing happens.

### 1/5 — Useless for an individual

*2023-07-31*

I was looking around for a strength training tracker/planner that isn't bogged down with microtransactions and all that junk. Just be warned, don't glance too quickly over the description. This isn't an application you can use as an individual. It requires someone else to pay a subscription so you can use it, or something. I don't know. It's not 100% clear their whole setup. So, for most people just looking for tools to help them, this wont help ya.

### 1/5 — Can’t Sign in

*2022-07-07*

Unless I have full bars or on wifi, it seems I can’t sign in

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — For coaches

*2026-06-24*

This app is for coaches and gyms. Can be useful for an individual IF they already know exactly what theyre doing as far as fitness. Its coaching software

### 5/5 — The app is good

*2025-08-28*

I’ve been using the app for a while now, at least a year if not more, and, while there have been some hiccups here and there, the app has been great. Any issue I’ve had to the dev team fixes it with a day or two too, and that’s if an update didn’t fix it. The new design of the UI has been nice too!

### 5/5 — Always improving

*2024-10-18*

It seems that most reviews of this app are old and negative, and I’d like to add a current one. This app is great. Fully customizable, tons of cool built in features, and better support than most apps in this niche. I put off switching from TrainHeroic for years, and having made the switch I couldn’t be happier with the more rich featureset on mystrengthbook. I recommend this app to any coach looking for a high quality training app

### 5/5 — Easy and Fast

*2019-11-13, version 1.1.190*

I love using MSB. It makes it quick and easy to program
And track what your athletes are doing. I also use it for my own program.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2018-03-27, version 1.0.190*

This is what the fitness industry needs. Programs by some of the best powerlifters in the world for a fraction of the price of buying personal coaching directly from the athletes. It’s still not cheap, but if your serious about getting stronger, especially if you hit a plateau, this app is for you

### 5/5 — If you are training with out msb you are missing out

*2018-02-25, version 1.0.141*

Msb is the best app on the market if you care about your progress in powerlifting. Instead of finishing a training block and going that went well and then going off to do something completely different you can analyse the block and work out what made it good for you to influence your next training block.

Great app and the community group on Facebook is a fantastic resource too. Avi and Mike (creators) are really responsive and answer any questions very quickly.

### 4/5 — App itself very good, integrations could use work

*2024-12-03*

The app itself works really well. No issues for me, loads fine, data input it fine, receives programs from coach no problem. Took a star off because the apple health integration refuses to stay connected no matter what I do. Every day I have to reconnect this app to apple health so my sleep/macros/calories will populate. Would love to see this fixed!

### 4/5 — Issues with iOS 13 and some other wants

*2019-10-07*

When attempting to upload clips edited in the new iOS update, it uploads the entire video instead of the edited clip, due to how apple is storing the clips now.

Also, I’d really like an easy way to see what lifts I’ve done at what weight recently, other than going to old days and finding them. A lift history that list some like:
Squat| 10/1/19 | 3x4 | 380 | rpe 7

Would be useful to look at different set/rep/rpe schemes to determine a lift goal.

### 3/5 — Only One Major Flaw

*2026-03-10, version 3.0.263*

Great functionality, does a lot of things right. The fact that it is cloud-based is unbelievably aggravating. I am begging you to let me download my training block and store it on my phone. I spend an egregious amount of tome waiting for the app to load when I am training somewhere with less-than-ideal reception. It’s a small problem but it has made me stop using the app while actually training - instead I have to get my block and write the whole thing down before training

### 3/5 — Some issues

*2026-01-01, version 3.0.235*

The developers refuse to get the timer working properly and the app will send multiple notifications telling me to GET BACK TO TRAINING!! after I have confirmed my workout is complete. It’s a good app and could be a great app one day.
