Please make files PDF as default when using the sharing function. On average, people will use files as attachments and not embed a photo/picture in an email.

### 2/5 — Fine when there’s no disruptions

*2026-08-14*

Be aware that it is absolutely impossible to manage bookings from within the app. You need to go on their website, log in, and hope that the page loads fast enough for your refund to still be eligible.

Due to various delays and cancellations of trains, I ended up having to buy three different tickets for one journey as the trains were arriving after the next ones I had to change onto had already left. I tried to “manage my booking” within the app but it only invited me to look at the ticket policies. There was no way to actually change my tickets before the other trains had already departed (whike I was on the first, delayed). Then when I tried to get a refund instead, I could select a reason I wanted a refund but then was unable to take any further actions except going back to the “change times/dates” or close the window and give up the refund process entirely.

By the time I was able to figure out where to ACTUALLY manage my booking (not on the app), I was far too late to be eligible to change/refund anything. Thanks for turning a £20 trip into a £40+ trip 👍 At least I got where I wanted to go eventually.

**Developer response:** Hi there, not all refunds are possible via your account. I'd recommend reaching out to our Customer Service team about this. You can find their contact details here > bit.ly/4m0ZNK7 Thanks, Lorcan

### 3/5 — Good apart from new layout

*2026-08-13, version 429.0.0*

App works but why have they made the customer journey through the app so much worse? Adding your age? Really?

### 2/5 — Not very helpful

*2026-08-12, version 429.0.0*

Abouslutly insanely discracful

### 1/5 — Does not work

*2026-08-11, version 429.0.0*

Could not activate the ticket, so I had to use an alternative provider at the gate. Still awaiting customer service to reply, after ages from purchase to help. Avoid and use another app.

### 1/5 — Rip off rubbish customer service

*2026-08-11, version 429.0.0*

All they do is retail tickets for other people if you have a problem with any of your tickets or any of the trains you travel on you will have to go through those other people to get your refund and they charge you more for doing all of this ?

### 2/5 — Favourites Don’t Work

*2026-08-10, version 429.0.0*

Have my four favourites, but they keep switching so all four are the same. Very annoying

### 1/5 — Used to be great

*2026-08-10, version 429.0.0*

Now it’s a buggy mess of an app.

### 4/5 — Progress?

*2026-08-10, version 429.0.0*

I have to agree with another reviewer who said the updates to the app make it less easy to use. I understand the programmers need to justify their pay but maybe they would do better if they asked us users for feedback?
Apple also need to look at wasted screen space. Having to constantly scroll pages is terribly inefficient and causes frustration and errors 🥲

### 3/5 — Caveat Emptor

*2026-08-08, version 428.0.0*

I filtered on Trainline for first class, which it did for the first and shortest leg of my journey. It then put me in second class on a slow regional train. It could have placed me on a faster train leaving just a few minutes later but arriving at my destination over 90 minutes earlier! So three hours on a slow train with no food or water unnecessarily. I now know not to trust Trainline to make reasonable decisions. A few dollars for a faster, cleaner train would have been worth it.

### 1/5 — 1 star review are removed

*2026-08-08, version 428.0.0*

Regularly

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Rubbish app

*2026-08-18, version 430.0.1*

Doesn’t say whether train times are peak or off peak. Added 2 hours to my journey

### 1/5 — New updates are terrible

*2026-08-18, version 430.0.1*

It’s now far less quick and easy to buy a ticket, often commuters are in a rush and now it’s far less to easy to actually purchase a ticket… will be looking into alternative apps

### 1/5 — Never works

*2026-08-17, version 430.0.0*

What’s the point in having an online website or app when you cannot book a ticket. There is a consistent error when trying to reach the payment page. I’ve switched to Train Pal instead.

### 1/5 — Absolutely shocking

*2026-08-17, version 430.0.0*

1 star because couldn’t put less. Our train was cancelled, we waited over 2 hours at the train station without any information, nearly missed our flight. 4 months later still no refund, 4 MONTHS and they’re barely replying to me when o chase for my refund (also the train was £70…) saying they’re waiting on another company to give them information/ confirm the train was cancelled. Hope you don’t have any issue with your train otherwise you will NEVER have any sort of compensation.

### 1/5 — Delay repay crippled

*2026-08-16, version 430.0.0*

They could make delay repay so easy yet they make you upload pdfs and QR codes when they already have the data and could use it . Right after you book instead of showing you tickets it tries to divert you into some cash back offer instead of helping
You make sure you got the correct tickets first . This is dishonest and confusing.

### 1/5 — Scam now

*2026-08-14, version 429.0.0*

They have added a 60p charge every time you buy a ticket now that is carefully hidden💀 May aswell just buy at train station or SWR app to save money as a broke student myself. Disappointed because this app used to be pretty helpful

### 1/5 — No trains, no refunds

*2026-08-13, version 429.0.0*

They direct you to provider for a refund who direct you back to Trainline who have zero support

### 1/5 — Compensation does not work

*2026-08-13, version 429.0.0*

Outgoing journey was severely delayed and return journey was cancelled. I was advised to use the delay repay in the app but all it did was send me on a wild goose chase to other webpages with nothing ostensibly about refunds. I’ve simply given up after several attempts.

### 1/5 — Awful Service

*2026-08-13, version 429.0.0*

My train was cancelled 2 days before travel. I was told I could get the next 2 later trains using the same service but they weren't till the following day. My ticket was only valid on the previous day so I have had to pay £50 for a brand new ticket through no fault of my own. Scam artists.

### 1/5 — Breaching GDPR for asking users age

*2026-08-12, version 429.0.0*

I’ve raised this a number of times with Trainline, but Trainline have given no clear purpose or disclaimer of why they need the passengers specific age, equally, there seems to be no sort of skip functionality with it. I’ve contacted the ICO for help with this.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — My new ticket app

*2026-08-19, version 430.0.1*

This train app at least offers me a cheap day return… the other sites, LNER, Thameslink… keep ‘guiding’ me to a ticket that costs nearly 50% more!

### 5/5 — Flexi Saver Ticket

*2026-08-18, version 430.0.1*

Trying the flexi saver ticket to see if this assists me to travel to work efficiently, cheaper and flexibly. Ordering process was quick and easy.

### 5/5 — Fabulous

*2026-08-17, version 430.0.0*

Quick simple cheap just what I needed

### 5/5 — Works internationally too!

*2026-08-14, version 429.0.0*

Just as I would book a trip to Exeter I booked an Italian trip

### 5/5 — Cannot read quoted prices in app with new version .

*2026-08-14, version 429.0.0*

Can’t see the quoted prices on my iphone 15 pro . I’m not adjusting the text size for 1 app .

### 5/5 — So Easy!

*2026-08-12, version 429.0.0*

Just downloaded the app. Easy to register and set up, got assistance and great advice, recommended railcard saved me the cost on first journey! All so easy to do.

### 5/5 — Tickets

*2026-08-09, version 429.0.0*

This app is so easy to use it’s not complicated with lots of add ons etc the prices are amazing as well your not rushed it gives you time to check you have got the times right etc . I don’t have to wait in queues Brilliant.

### 5/5 — Mr

*2026-08-06, version 428.0.0*

Very easy and helpful

### 5/5 — Markson

*2026-08-06, version 428.0.0*

Straightforward and easy to navigate

### 5/5 — Great update

*2026-08-04, version 428.0.0*

Loved the app but the rewards popup was intrusive initially. It was a two handed job to press close before having access to your tickets. It’s now less intrusive, is smaller and allows one handed thumb swipe down to remove the popup. Perfectly acceptable. Superb update. Thank you.
