## What is TrainReview?

TrainReview plans your training, watches what you actually do, and adjusts what comes next — showing its reasoning, with you making the final call.

Finish a workout and the app compares every set you logged against what the plan asked for. It reaches a verdict on each exercise — Progress, Repeat, or Reduce — and shows the evidence behind it: your reps, your loads, how much you had left in reserve. Accept a decision and it becomes the target in your upcoming sessions. Nothing changes until you say so.

PLAN YOUR WAY

Choose the amount of guidance that works for you:

• Guided: answer a few questions and get a complete plan. General Fitness and Return to Training are available free; Athlete Premium unlocks guided Strength, Muscle Growth, and Weight Loss plans.
• Build It Yourself: begin with a blank slate and take full control of training days, exercises, and progression.

Guided and advanced plans live together in Your Plans, and every path feeds the same review loop.

TRAIN WITHOUT DISTRACTIONS

Follow today's workout and log your work set by set. Use the built-in rest timer, record left and right sides, run timed holds, skip or substitute exercises, and carry a substitution into the rest of your plan when it makes sense.

SEE YOUR PROGRESS

Trends built from the work you actually completed, never from a projected curve: working weights, session history, and estimated 1RM over time. Reopen any finished workout to see how it went, and explore exercises with muscle diagrams and clear equipment details.

GO FURTHER WITH ATHLETE PREMIUM

• Post-workout review grounded in what you actually completed
• Automatic progression for upcoming sessions
• Adaptive advanced plans
• Guided plans for Strength, Muscle Growth, and Weight Loss
• Estimated 1RM trends and longer-range analytics

Guided General Fitness and Return to Training plans, Build It Yourself plan authoring, workout logging, and training history remain available for free. There is no account to create: your training data stays on your device and can sync through your private iCloud account.

Plan with intent. Train with focus. Progress from what you actually did.

## Version history (last 4 releases)

### 1.0.3 — 2026-08-26

Every screen says each thing once.

IMPROVED
• Sessions are quieter. The prescription lives in the dock; the queue shows where you are — names, ticks, and what you skipped — instead of repeating every target beside it.
• The session-wide load unit moved into the dock menu, alongside the unit for the exercise you are on. Both switches now sit in one place.
• Settings is two groups — Training, and Privacy & Data — instead of thirteen sections, with the explanations kept only where trust depends on them.
• Each Progress screen asks one question: Consistency shows consistency, Balance shows distribution.
• The guided wizard and the plan composer offer each choice once. The plan's title is the button that renames it, and the step counter gave way to the strip that already showed your place.
• Finishing a plan is celebrated once and then settles, instead of animating for as long as you look at it.
• Rest is timed in one place. The idle stopwatch beside the rest pill is gone.
• The Exercises library leads with your exercises rather than a duplicate row of filters.
• A new install opens on the welcome screen at once. iCloud is checked in the background, and the restore question appears only when there is something to restore.

FIXED
• Two exercises kept from earlier versions showed a leftover internal label in their names. They read as "Conditioning" and "Lateral Raise" now, on your history as well as in the library.
• A retired exercise is no longer offered when you swap one mid-session, or picked for you when a plan is generated.

### 1.0.2 — 2026-08-22

The first time a lift needs a weight, the app asks you instead of guessing.

NEW
• First exposure to a loaded exercise is a question now, not a number: enter the weight you know, or let the session find it. No plan screen shows a weight you never set.
• Find my weight makes the first session the finder — sets of 8–10, one tap for how it felt, an automatic step down when a set gets away from you, and a weight that sticks once it is found.
• Your own logged sets and the weights you confirm outrank anything the app started you with, everywhere it counts.
• End an exercise short without skipping it: log the sets you did, and the rest are recorded as skipped rather than failed.
• Review judges what you actually performed. Planned-versus-actual set volume is evidence now, and a deliberate two-of-three still earns a verdict and still counts in Progress.
• Deleting a plan you have trained keeps its history: the plan leaves your list, the workouts stay in Progress.
• Decisions that matter — finishing or leaving a workout, deleting a plan — look like the rest of the app instead of a stock iOS alert.

FIXED
• The Dynamic Island rest countdown no longer truncates to "0:…", and its content stays readable in light mode.
• A fresh install in Canada opens in pounds.
• Swapping an exercise mid-session refreshes the target instead of leaving the previous exercise's rep count in the dock.
• A substituted exercise reads its own history rather than the one it replaced.
• The "+ Warm-up" button keeps its width beside a long exercise name.
• The progression profile you pick survives the rollover into the next cycle.
• A timed hold is reviewed on the seconds you held, not the seconds the plan asked for.
• Conditioning work — the bike, the rower, jump rope, a circuit — logs straight from its minutes target, without running the timer first.
• The strength trend chart labels dates as dates instead of "Aug 21 at 1…".
• In the guided wizard, emphasis, equipment, and progression choices change the plan they say they change.
• Redeeming an offer code gets the same welcome as any other upgrade.

### 1.0.1 — 2026-08-22

Fixes from your feedback, plus a proper finish line when a plan is done.

FIXED
• Sets no longer become unloggable mid-session when an exercise disagrees about per-side weight.
• Review shows weights you can actually load: targets and suggested changes snap to your bar, plates, and increment, so a set logged on target reads as on target.
• Bodyweight and other unweighted work is judged on reps instead of being counted as incomplete.
• Sets count as passed on days that prescribe fewer than three sets.
• Weights the app fills in for you are marked as suggestions, not as your working weight.
• Setting a starting point for one exercise type no longer blanks out the others.
• Muscle groups can be edited on library exercises, and muscle details lost to an earlier bug are repaired at launch.
• Timed holds no longer show a reps-in-reserve target.
• Train, Plans, Progress, and Review say your training is restoring instead of looking empty while an iCloud restore is still landing.
• The Heat flame opens the Heat Ledger again during a cold week, and Show tips again is on every "?" menu.
• Fixed text cut off mid-word in some languages, and cramped controls when reordering plan days.

NEW
• Train marks a finished cycle and takes you straight to it.
• Plans you build yourself can now be completed, closed out, or ended early.
• Run it again starts the next block from a finished plan and remembers what it continues. With Athlete Premium, the repeat starts from the loads you actually logged.
