### 5/5 — Well guided

*2026-07-26, version 1.4.10*

the guidance given makes one feel confident that I am following a program that is well thought out and intended to help one grow

### 1/5 — App Is Terrible

*2026-07-23, version 1.4.10*

So first I love the plan Sean has and I will keep following it. However I am coming from the RP app and this app functions horrible. From the main screen it shows your program. If you hit switch and go to upper/ lower (because I like 4 days. It won’t save that. I have to restart it every gym day. It will save your cycle info but you have to go all through the settings again. Second, once you edit the works outs it says “save for entire program”, you select yes. Next week all gone again. So probably going to take his plan and move back to the better app and use it that way. I hate that because I was hoping it would work great. Bummer.

### 5/5 — TrainWise

*2026-07-19, version 1.4.10*

I was skeptical about this app. Once I saw the science, because I believe in evidence-based methods, overall, I knew this was the next step to creating an overall athlete. I cannot emphasize enough the intensity and low volume workouts. You go hard two sets and then move to the next set. The science is there and I genuinely feel more of an increase in muscle, as opposed to multiple sets with high volume. It’s a great overall strength and hypertrophy program. You won’t be disappointed!

### 1/5 — Super glitchy, deleting full workouts and bad UI experience

*2026-07-09, version 1.4.10*

This app is just poorly designed. Literally just completed a workout, but recorded me only having done 1 out of 6 exercises. Other times I’ll try to swap an exercise and it’ll just cancel the workout, displaying 0 exercises done. And I can’t go back and change anything.

Shoddy user experience. Would not recommend.

### 1/5 — What’s going on?

*2026-06-23, version 1.4.10*

TrainWise advertises a free trial and repeatedly emails you about it after creating an account. However, when I downloaded the app through the App Store, there was no free trial available. That was frustrating and felt misleading.

To make matters worse, customer service was unhelpful when I tried to resolve the issue.

Based on my experience, I’d recommend using MacroFactor instead. The app is excellent, transparent with its pricing, and offers a much better overall experience.

### 5/5 — Suggestion for free trial

*2026-05-28, version 1.4.10*

Hey Sean,

This is pretty pricey. I want to try but not before trying the app. Providing a free trial would greatly increase signup.

### 1/5 — Subscription for rudimentary app

*2026-05-26, version 1.4.10*

Hello! First and foremost, I want to say that I’m a huge fan of Sean N. I’ve been following him on Instagram for several years and genuinely enjoy his content, which is exactly why I wanted to give TrainWise a try.

One thing I found disappointing right away was that there’s no ability to explore the app at all before committing to a paid subscription. Despite that, I decided to purchase the quarterly plan to see what the app had to offer. Unfortunately, after spending time with it, I have to say I’m extremely underwhelmed.

From my perspective, the workout programs, nutrition section, and supplementation guidance all feel very basic and minimal. The workout plans themselves don’t offer anything particularly unique or advanced. You choose a category such as full body or push/pull, and then you’re essentially given a limited number of workouts. For someone training 4–5 days per week, there are many free apps on the market that provide similar or even better functionality.

The nutrition aspect was another major disappointment for me. While there are some recipes included, several of the recommendations are simply premade products like protein bars and some recipes can be time consuming to make. Overall, the nutrition side feels incomplete and somewhat lazily executed. I also didn’t feel like the meal recommendations were truly tailored to the goals the app asks you about during setup.

Tracking nutrition is also frustrating. The app doesn’t clearly guide users on how much they should be eating based on their goals, and when logging meals, I have to manually calculate and enter my own protein, carbs, and fats every single time. There’s no convenient option to save recurring meals, such as a breakfast I eat daily, which feels like a major oversight for a fitness app.

Another issue is that the app only seems to track calories and protein clearly, while carbs and fats are not easily viewable throughout the day. For an app focused on fitness and nutrition, that feels very limiting.

I paid around $70 for the quarterly subscription, and personally, I can’t justify the value based on what the app currently offers. I can’t speak for everyone else, but for me, it feels overpriced considering there’s nothing particularly innovative or premium compared to other apps available today.

I did reach out to support regarding my concerns and was met with a generic reply.

“”Thank you for your message.

We're so sorry to hear that you aren't completely satisfied with the app and appreciate you taking the time to reach out.

We have shared this feedback with our team to be reviewed.

Your support means everything to us, and we hope you'll continue on this journey with us.

Should you need any further assistance going forward, please let us know.
Kind regards,

Andrae””

Although the app is underdeveloped and basic, I still am a huge follower of Sean N. And his content he puts out.

### 4/5 — Mostly perfect

*2026-05-08, version 1.4.10*

I’ve been using this app for the past three months and I honestly have loved it. There are the occasional glitches in the app where it froze or didn’t save something but for the most part it’s been great. The workouts, tutorials, and exercise swap features all for a wide range of equipment and gyms. I live in an area where the only place open early enough fr is Planet Fitness and I’ve been able to get very solid workouts in despite the limitations. So aside from the occasional tech issue and the lager process tag, I would say it’s worth it!

### 5/5 — Top Tier

*2026-05-06, version 1.4.10*

Provides all the content and guidance in a simple understandable manner to achieve your fitness objectives.

### 4/5 — Awesome but still has bugs/glitches at times.

*2026-04-12, version 1.4.8*

I’ve been using TrainWise for about a year now, and overall it’s been great. I mainly followed the 2 Minimal Program, which has been especially beneficial for me while balancing nursing school. It’s simple, efficient, and easy to stay consistent with.

The support system on Discord is also a big plus. The team is responsive and transparent—whenever issues come up with the app, they communicate updates and let users know they’re actively working on improvements.

That said, the app does have some bugs. For example, updating a workout split doesn’t always reflect across the entire cycle. Adding exercises to a specific workout day can be inconsistent, and logging weights and sets sometimes affects other exercises. There are also times when a completed workout doesn’t save properly—it may show “0 exercises completed” even after finishing and saving the session.

My biggest drawback is that the app relies heavily on an internet connection. At my gym, the signal is poor, so logging workouts can take a long time to save, which can be frustrating.

Despite that, I still really like the app. The workout splits are well-designed, and each exercise comes with a straightforward, no-BS guide from Sean. The programs effectively target the right muscle groups and cut out unnecessary fluff.

I would definitely recommend this app to lifters of all levels, from casual to more advanced.
