### 2/5 — Frustrating

*2026-08-11, version 2.8.0*

Recently the app has refused to work. It will show nearby stops and favourites but, more often than not, it will not connect to real time updates. Very frustrating. I use the PTV app or Google Maps instead most of the time.

### 3/5 — Phantom trams

*2026-07-16, version 2.8.0*

Mostly good. Issue is with phantom (tracked) trams that never turn up and those that appear without being in the app. Interface and features are stuck in the 90’s.

### 2/5 — Review

*2026-06-22, version 2.7.0*

This app always says the wrong times, don’t trust it. This app told me the tram was 2 minutes away so I sprinted for my life, being unable to breathe the tram arrived 6 minutes later, I was about to pass out after running that fast, good with all the stops but horrible work with the timings, very dissatisfied

### 2/5 — Not working anymore

*2026-04-05, version 2.6.5*

It's a great app until it was working, now it's been 4 weeks and it doesn't work and no one even triea to fix it! This was the only good app for tracking the trams and now it's gone

### 2/5 — Best and worst

*2026-03-10, version 2.6.5*

Best and worst app of its kind. Used to be great, now doesn’t load constantly

### 1/5 — Used to be good but now useless

*2026-03-02, version 2.6.5*

Doesn’t work anymore. Any tram I want to track gives me an “unable to track” message. All my settings are correct. This is so frustrating. Fix it please!!!!

### 1/5 — Been broken all week

*2026-02-26, version 2.6.5*

How can i live under these conditions yo?

### 1/5 — Used to work

*2026-02-19, version 2.6.5*

This app used to work great but for last week it won’t load anything. What’s going on guys???

### 1/5 — No longer opens

*2026-01-27, version 2.6.5*

Four stars previously, one now because I installed the latest OS and now tram Tracker just won’t open.

### 2/5 — Bring back the widget

*2025-12-01, version 2.6.4*

I loved the widget and I miss it

### 4/5 — Tracks slow trams

*2025-11-10, version 2.6.4*

Melbourne has some of the slowest trams in the world due to decades of poor urban planning. The app does a pretty good job of substituting for signage at stops where they haven’t bothered to build any, I haven’t tried any of its other functions.

### 1/5 — App no longer works

*2025-09-22, version 2.6.3*

This app no longer works on my device and it hasn’t been functioning for a month or so. I tried reinstalling and it keeps crashing. Previously the app would sometimes be out of synch with the screen displays at tram stops and it was confusing to try and guess how long until it would arrive. PTV app doesn’t forecast actual times, only schedules so it’s a feasible substitute. Very disappointing. Please fix the bugs

### 2/5 — Its ok

*2025-09-18, version 2.6.3*

I mean, yes it does its job attract trams however it’s just kind of finicky like sometimes it’ll stop working for me personally it’s stopped working for almost 2 weeks hasn’t started working again and to be honest you can kind of do the exact same thing with maps or Google Maps by just using the public transportation option and I’ll tell you when they get there as well as your entire trip time including walking. Not just the tram time though it’s a bit more accurate than the maps version and gives you a bit more data, but really to be honest. it’s kinda just easier to use maps

### 1/5 — App has stopped working

*2025-09-10, version 2.6.3*

As other reviewers have noted, the app has recently stopped working. It 'hangs' forever while loading the home screen.
Prior to that, tram arrival times shown were unreliable and very misleading.
I wish I could like this app, but it has never been great, and now it's entirely non-functional.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — App Loading Time Regression

*2026-07-19, version 2.8.0*

Used to start pretty quickly but now it just hangs forever on green splash screen when opening

### 1/5 — What is this, bro?

*2026-05-11, version 2.7.0*

I saw a tram approaching and the app said 31 minutes 🤣

### 1/5 — No Longer Works

*2026-04-07, version 2.6.5*

When it was functioning it was a very helpful app. Now it won’t even load and appears others are having the same issue. RIP tramTRACKER.

### 1/5 — No times

*2026-03-23, version 2.6.5*

Data feed no longer provides actual times

### 1/5 — Almost never works

*2026-03-22, version 2.6.5*

Used to be fairly reliable. But hasn’t worked for months. No communications about why it’s not working.

### 1/5 — Unreliable

*2026-03-17, version 2.6.5*

Always fell to connect, not due to mobile data or app versioning, purely buggy, unreliable when you need for a quick check, what’s the point of having it.

### 1/5 — Actual rating -1

*2026-03-15, version 2.6.5*

Worse then google map

### 1/5 — Basically useless

*2026-03-14, version 2.6.5*

For some reason this app won’t load tram/stop data unless you’re connected to wifi, which defeats the entire purpose of the app. This was never a problem until within the last month.

### 1/5 — 100% Broken

*2026-03-13, version 2.6.5*

Since the last update, I cannot get any tram info at all. Every stop says unable to contact the TramTracker service. No matter if I am on mobile data or home wifi it refuses to get any tram times. App is now 100% useless.

### 1/5 — Not working

*2026-03-09, version 2.6.5*

Reinstalled multiple times but it just says the tram stop isn’t in use. Also says I have to be connected to the internet to use the application which is stupid because I’ve used it without wifi and running it on mobile data

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Love the new widget update

*2026-07-09, version 2.8.0*

I love the new widget update and I can see this feature being improved over the coming updates.
Overall it’s a great app which I use daily and it’s reliable.

### 5/5 — Absolutely underrated app

*2026-04-20, version 2.7.0*

I don't understand why so many people have been saying tramTRACKER is so bad, because in my personal experience it's the best and I wish there was a suburban train equivalent.

First of all, the app works perfectly fine. Everything loads, there are no bugs, and the ETAs are accurate enough. The only issue I've had is when I go to the list of tram routes and tap on "Network", nothing loads. I believe this was supposed to be an image of the tram network map that just won't load anymore, but there are so many other places to find the Melbourne tram network map, such as inside trams, at tram stops, and online, so you don't really need it to load on tramTRACKER. I've also found that I don't get push notifications for service disruptions despite having turned that on and allowing push notifications from tramTRACKER, but again there are many other ways of finding out about service disruptions.

Already tramTRACKER is good enough for telling people how long until the next tram, but there's even more. You're able to filter upcoming tram arrivals by whether or not they are low floor, which is great for people with physical disabilities, and you can also filter stops by if they have a raised platform, if they have a shelter, and if they have myki machines. You can also favourite stops and give them names and stuff so you can easily access their arrival times in the future. This may seem pretty basic, but surprisingly the PTV app (which soon should be the Transport Victoria app, for those reading this in the near future) doesn't have any of this.

A couple more features I like:
1. You are able to search up the location of individual trams by their number. This also shows the scheduled departure times for each upcoming and previous stop, and the route number and terminus is shown at the top of the screen too. From here you can scroll left on a stop to send a push notification to your phone a couple minutes before that tram reaches the selected stop.
2. When looking at the upcoming tram arrivals for a stop, you get a little picture of what your tram will look like. This I personally like because I can then tell from that picture what tram class I will be getting on, and although most people won't really care about that, it might still be helpful to have a picture of what your tram will look like.

In conclusion, I think tramTRACKER is great when it works. In all the years of me using it I have had little to no issues with it and will keep using it until it gets shut down for some reason or until I die. It's just that great.

### 5/5 — Great

*2026-03-20, version 2.6.5*

I love this app

### 5/5 — A gem.

*2025-12-21, version 2.6.4*

I’ve been using this app for many years and it works perfectly. Routes I use the most are favoured and quick to access. The app works great without location services turned on. It even shows how busy each individual tram is, patronage wise. Great time saver for me. Well done to all involved.

### 5/5 — It’s so good

*2025-10-09, version 2.6.4*

It’s so good

### 5/5 — Working again. V 2.6.4

*2025-09-24, version 2.6.4*

### 5/5 — Easy, awesome, useful, thanks !

*2018-07-12*

Forget about the whiners with old phones, they probably don’t know how to do updates. This app has been fantastic for 2 years, lots of features, easy to use, great interface. Thanks a lot developers, you saved me heaps of time and worry. Just set your favourites to your home stop, no need to run for the tram.

### 5/5 — Top TramTracker

*2014-10-15, version 2.1*

Couldn't live without TramTracker in Melbourne!!. Use it religiously every day to get around the city. Easy to use, reliable info and helped me learn how to navigate the city when I moved here! Keep the trams coming TramTracker.
