### 2/5 — live data

*2026-06-18, version 2.12.3*

the live data function doesn’t work half the time. i often have to restart the app several times. it has been like this for a while and i thought an update would fix it but no

### 2/5 — Inconvenient

*2026-05-23, version 2.12.3*

The timetable in this app often differs from the actual bus arrival times. This happens quite frequently, so I would like you to fix it immediately. Also, the fact that the arrival times and routes change on weekends is very inconvenient.

### 3/5 — Time shown is deceiving

*2026-05-15, version 2.12.0*

The timing shown for buses is horrible. From the schedule one of the bus will get cancelled and the live time for the cancelled bus will show “in 4mins” for the next 15 mins until the next scheduled bus arrives.

### 4/5 — Review

*2026-05-14, version 2.12.0*

The app is good and helpful but when I put my email in to make an account it said “Email already in use” I’ve never made an account with that email.

### 2/5 — bugs and bugs

*2026-04-21, version 2.12.0*

the strongest gripe i have with the app is that sometimes when journeyplanning, routes just dont appear at all although the website displays possible routes

### 3/5 — Decent but lots to improve

*2026-02-08, version 2.11.2*

Transperth app has live navigation of all the stops and travel routes but here’s where it can improve
- planning a journey- it can take the current location by default without the user having to enter or click anything
- on bus journeys, ability to set up some alert for the desired stop
- track a bus and where it is

### 2/5 — Map display freezes

*2026-01-29, version 2.11.2*

When zooming the display freezes, have to kill app to reset

### 1/5 — What data they may collect as per their privacy conditions

*2026-01-18, version 2.11.2*

Examples of the types of personal information we may collect include:

### 1/5 — Useless and frustrating waste of time, data and taxpayer money

*2026-01-17, version 2.11.2*

So frustrating. My account details all fine. Favourite locations all loaded. Location settings selected in phone settings. BUT I still get an error every time I try to plan a journey, find a stop or search a timetable! I am trying to teach my autistic son to navigate public transport to go to school and if this app worked it would be really helpful but it fails to perform its main function and purpose. I’d give zero stars if I could. Why can’t Transperth get a decent app like every other city AND while we’re here why can’t we add the smarter card to our apple wallet???

### 1/5 — This app takes longer than the journey

*2026-01-07, version 2.11.2*

Don’t bother with this app. Looks good until it isn’t. Saved journeys don’t open or somehow have different info. Very slow to process (oops, there goes the bus).
I don’t think it’s a priority to Transperth that this app works efficiently but if you enjoy waiting for the wheel of death than this apps for you.

### 3/5 — Slowly getting back to it

*2025-12-30, version 2.11.2*

This is an update to my original review from early 2025. The app still isn’t quite there yet but at least the T&Cs on-boarding issue has been fixed and I can now also use FaceID.

### 2/5 — Ruined

*2025-12-11, version 2.11.0*

App was fine, I don’t update apps until I know it’s safe because they often have errors, now Transperth app forces update and breaks live times via qr codes.

### 1/5 — Ruined

*2025-12-08, version 2.11.0*

App was fine, I don’t update apps until I know it’s safe because they often have errors, now Transperth app forces update and breaks live times.

### 1/5 — Latest update broke the app

*2025-12-07, version 2.11.0*

Cannot get passed the EULA page as it won’t register my acceptance to the terms. Previous versions worked fine for me, now it is unusable.

### 1/5 — Broken

*2025-12-07, version 2.11.0*

The accept terms and conditions button doesn’t even work so can’t get into the app

### 1/5 — How hard is it to get a transport app? Nothing works.

*2025-12-05, version 2.11.0*

Seriously. Every other major city does this. This is an embarrassment. App crashes. Doesn’t load. Errors.
Fire your dev team and leaders and buy a Chinese transport app.

### 1/5 — Completely unusable with VoiceOver

*2025-12-02, version 2.11.0*

I’m new to Perth and am vision impaired and access the city using public transport. I was incredibly disappointed that, when downloading this app, it is completely unusable for anyone who uses a screen reader, which should be one of the primary audiences of any public transport app. When I asked other blind and vision impaired friends if they’ve had any success using the app, they all directed me to Google Maps, which is quite an indictment on the W.A. government’s public transport offering. I would love to work with the app team to make this a better experience for everyone, but cannot recommend this app at this time

### 1/5 — Unable to add SmartRider card

*2025-11-25, version 2.10.4*

When I try to add my smartrider card, the app crashes. Very frustrating.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — How is this app still so rubbish?

*2026-08-02, version 2.12.3*

I’m trying to plan a journey for five days from now, using well established bus and train routes and nope… nothing populates. Whoever is building this app needs to engage a proper user experience designer to do some user testing and fix this. It’s 2026, people. Get with the times.

It is (again) an easy delete for me. I’ll use Google maps instead to figure my travel out…

### 1/5 — App is broken

*2026-07-30, version 2.12.3*

No maps or fares will display even after reboot and checking Location Services are active. Both Cellular and WiFi enabled.

### 1/5 — Useless use Google maps

*2026-07-03, version 2.12.3*

Absolutely useless. I am visiting from overseas and got this to help me get about. Does not know business names or motel names. Google maps does and gives all the public transport options.

### 1/5 — Good until it isn’t

*2026-06-28, version 2.12.3*

Great app when things are running to plan. Several times though I’ve been caught out by a stop or service not in use - yet the journey planner still tells you to effing use it!

### 1/5 — Should have digital smart riders by now. It’s 2026

*2026-05-17, version 2.12.0*

Let’s get with the times hey.

### 1/5 — Unable to put money on card

*2026-05-16, version 2.12.0*

Put my credit card into autopay but it doesn’t put anything on my smartrider card and doesn’t show any message why not

### 1/5 — No stars

*2026-04-28, version 2.12.0*

No stars for our present day bus drivers. They never stick to the bus timings/ schedule, have less courtesy and compassion is outdated if not non-existent!!!!. Why bother about Apps live or dead(non functional) . It takes drivers to run the buses on time and keep to that schedule… and not apps suggesting where they are. Get with it or change the drivers to those who respect a proper work ethic and have responsibility to get the public to where they need to be. WAIT for IT!!!!…. None to beat bus drivers who say “ too much traffic “ when queried why the bus is 10 to 15 minutes late😂😎👏. Well, that’s what’s called ‘ a lame excuse’ to save your 🙈❤️

### 1/5 — Can’t link my order card

*2026-04-21, version 2.12.0*

Tired of this. Tried to add my smart rider a lot of time and the error keeps coming as incorrect DOB, on our records DOB do not match.
Can’t Direct debit or auto load

### 1/5 — Broken

*2026-04-07, version 2.12.0*

Every time I try to use a function that calls back to the server I get a handy error message that says “unknown error”. When I reached out to support they said that it happens on some phones and they don’t know why.

### 1/5 — Rubbish

*2026-03-13, version 2.11.2*

I can’t progress past installing it. App has sat at installation for days, have uninstalled fully twice and still can’t progress the installation.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — TransPerth

*2026-04-03, version 2.12.0*

Outstanding safety

### 5/5 — Student

*2026-02-13, version 2.11.2*

It is a bit complicated but gives a lot more features than the website

### 5/5 — Great App

*2025-09-19, version 2.10.4*

This Transperth app is great to use because it gives you real time bus and train traking and when it arrives as well as planing journeys to a place. This has been the number one app to use when catching public transport. So this app gets a 5⭐️ review.

### 5/5 — Easy to use

*2025-03-20, version 2.9.5*

Great app makes it easy to plan your journey. Even factors in the time it takes to walk to the bus stop so you get there on time.

### 5/5 — Smart rider card Wallet IOS

*2025-02-09, version 2.9.5*

Hey Transperth devs your app is good and all but I was thinking about a wallet Version of the smart rider because 100 per cent people might forget or lose their card along the way a ID holder might be better more over people want second options like a copy version on their phone just like Japan’s train system

### 5/5 — Smart rider card Wallet IOS

*2024-08-26*

Hey Transperth devs your app is good and all but I was thinking about a wallet Version of the smart rider because 100 per cent people might forget or lose their card along the way a ID holder might be better more over people want second options like a copy version on their phone just like Japan’s train system

### 5/5 — Good

*2024-08-19, version 2.7.21*

Useful

### 5/5 — Best app!

*2023-01-31, version 2.5.23*

Best app for public transport in Perth! I use it every weekday. However I’d love to be able to set alerts for my favourite or a watched/tracked bus on my route and get a time to leave alert on my phone and watch based in my location. This seems to me to be an important feature for future releases.

### 5/5 — Absolute required downloading!

*2020-10-13, version 2.1.30*

Have been using this app since it’s inception and have to say it’s simply required downloading for anyone using buses, trains or ferries in Perth!

Not sure where the complaints below are coming from - it’s never failed me. One of the very few gov apps that actually does what it was made for.

If I could make just 2 suggestions... Perhaps an alarm function could be set for when the bus reaches a certain bus stop? And more control over our smartrider cards. (Temp blocking, direct electronic payments for ad-hoc needs).

Other than that - a rare gov app that actually does what it says it does - KUTGW!

### 5/5 — Room for improvement but still good

*2020-04-02, version 2.1.27*

A phenomenally useful app to have if you’re traveling around Perth and surrounds. Take note: a schedule may *say* live but unless you see a little moving bus icon, you’re seeing scheduled times. Sometimes the signal seems to cut out and the bus icon will vanish for a time. 90% of the time, it works perfectly.

Room for improvement:

Push notifications for when my marked bus is getting close/to a predetermined stop.

Integration with Siri - I need to be able to label certain routes/times so she can quickly know which one I’m asking about - and also just generally be able to search for ‘next bus going to’ and ‘what about the bus after that’.
