Sometimes I load up a bunch of pics for the day’s journal and one will disappear and I get a duplicate of another. The bottom section with arrows is a mystery. Sometimes it shows blank boxes with arrows, sometimes it shows duplicates of pictures I’ve already included elsewhere, and sometimes it’s nonexistent. My biggest complaint though is that in my opinion, if you pay for a subscription, all ads should be removed. I wrote to the company via their support page asking how to remove their ads and not surprisingly did not get an answer whatsoever. I’ve tried several journaling apps over the years when we travel - and so far have been underwhelmed by all. They either charge more as you add content or they have blatantly distracting ads or just don’t work. This is somewhere in between. I’ll use it for this trip and then cancel the subscription and look for something else. Or hey … I’m a retired developer- maybe I’ll write my own. ### 4/5 — Solid journaling app with photo limitations *2026-02-23, version 2.2.84* After doing some research on travel journaling apps, I chose this one to start the long overdue process of digitizing my handwritten travel journals from the past four decades. Entering text is very easy, and there are numerous page layouts to choose from. However, there are limitations with regard to where and how photos can be placed in the layouts and the sizing of them. Wish the app had more flexibility to edit size and place photos exactly where you want them. I ordered my first set of printed copies of a journal from one trip and was reasonably impressed at the quality of the printed book. I signed up for the annual subscription so I can enjoy other benefits as well. Other apps I’ve used are much better with handling large numbers of photos, but I like that this one handles a lot of text very well with just a few photos thrown in for visual appeal. ### 4/5 — Superbe! *2026-01-21* J’attendais une telle app depuis longtemps pour me lancer dans la rédaction d’un livre de voyage. J’avais vu des app de type journal quotidien mais j’étais à la recherche d’un app pour rédiger en numérique en retour de voyage où j’ai pris des notes à la main. Travel diaries me permet assez facilement de rédiger, mettre en forme, ajouter des cartes et des images, de manière complémentaire sur le web ou dans l’app, puis de partager ou d’imprimer (je n’ai pas encore reçu mon livre résultat pour témoigner sur ce point). Les possibilités de mise en page ne sont pas infinies mais au moins elles sont simples à effectuer. It would help a lot if I could choose a layout FIRST and then write to fill the page. Currently you write everything out, choose a layout and hope your photos land where you want. Loading pics and pages of text takes forever, it freezes, and I’ve lost pages of writing on a few occasions. It took a solid day to figure out how to use it ### 4/5 — Nearly perfect (for me!) *2025-11-17, version 2.2.77* I have searched for an app for a long time which enabled me to keep a travel journal with photographs which could be easily printed in book format as well as published on line. I’ve now found it and completed my first one (many more to follow as I’m playing catch up.) The online version is good and I have just received the printed book which has blown me away. It looks so good. So why 4 stars and not 5? I am picky and I would like more flexibility to be able to include some wider photos. I had to crop elements out of some because I couldn’t reduce them to fit the template. (If this is my ineptitude I am happy to be taught and add in the star!) The other thing I would like to see is the option to make some of the photo boxes bigger and swap them and the text boxes around. It isn’t a difficult app to use; my only challenges were trying to make it do something it doesn’t! Overall though I am very happy and I am now part way through my second book. ### 4/5 — Practice and play with it before you start your journey *2025-10-22, version 2.2.74* I was recommended this app by a friend who has used it multiple times. I like it, but figuring out how the features work is more complicated than it appears. Writing the journal is pretty straightforward, but adding pix is more involved. There are multiple steps that need to be done in a certain order for the pix to appear in each chapter. Also, if you want to make your journal available to friends or anyone, you need to use the Share key. You can make the entire journal public or just selected chapters. I suggest you play with it well before you are traveling to avoid frustration. When I used the app on my desktop, the FAQ section answered a lot of questions, but I wasn’t able to find this when I was using my IPad. Now that I’m more familiar with the app, I will use it on future trips. ### 5/5 — Amazing! *2025-04-18, version 2.2.28* As a teacher advisor for a high school student travel trip to Canada, I used this travel journal app to document our journey — and I couldn’t be more impressed. We created a beautiful 50-page travel journal filled with student photos, quotes, and memories that truly captured the spirit of the trip. The app was incredibly user-friendly, allowing us to organize and personalize each page with ease. Our students loved seeing their experiences brought to life in such a creative and polished format. What really stood out, though, was the outstanding customer service. Any questions we had were answered promptly and thoughtfully, making the whole process smooth and enjoyable from start to finish. This app exceeded our expectations and helped us preserve memories in a way the travel company simply couldn’t. I’ve created 10 travel journals and just regular photo journals. In the beginning, the learning curve has been steep because of limited formats but last year they launched more options and truly grateful for that. A few weeks ago, I encountered several issues with panorama pictures but the response from Paula and support team was quick and they resolved the situation immediately, exceeded my expectations. I encountered issues in the past and their support has always been the same, great response time and problems solved. Once home I added the photos and then had the book printed. The end result was a stunning memory of my trip with 208 pages of photos and my notes. After looking at a few others, I decided to use this one as it has such great features, can be used on the desktop or phone, & has so many beautiful layout options. The only things on my wish list for this app are: - faster uploads of images (I don’t know if this is possible but images can take 20-30 seconds per image to upload on 4G) - the ability to zoom in on the text when you’re in layout mode so you can see where to add images - the ability to rearrange images in a layout once uploaded Overall, I really like the app as is. I tried it out to see what features and templates were being offered for the travel book option. I have to laugh. To be fair, I usually create my own using photoshop, which allows for much more customization, like adding little visual details, screenshots of itinerary maps, PNGs, personalized fonts, drawings, overlays, scans of receipts, etc, things that make the reliving the experience more sentimental and immersive, like a legitimate scrapbook. To make them on photoshop isn’t difficult at all. I am honestly in utter shock that the devs are charging $59 YEARLY for this app on top of an ADDITIONAL $30-60 each book. Absolutely despicable. This app is quite literally scamming people for something can be done for free in the pages app or notes app within minutes for free. The templates and fonts are so juvenile and barren, lack customization, and are borderline tacky, I’m positive 5 year old could produce better. I cannot believe that this app has such great reviews. Even if you appreciate the simplicity or solely use the app as a travel journal $40-$60 a year for what it is a complete ripoff. And if you choose to print your book at the end of that you still have to pay a VERY high price to print it (way higher than any other photo book printing service). It didn’t work consistently (photos would not upload) but I had already given others the link. When it became a paid app, I purchased it because, again others already had the link. I cannot add photos at all anymore. It is slow to load, and it does not always save. Every time I use it (try to use it) I tell myself that I can’t believe I paid money for something that doesn’t work. I spent time setting up the book and planning my approach. This evening, I tried to revisit what I had done and felt I’d gone into another universe. I had to reset my password, then, it wanted my to use my Facebook password to sign in. I don’t use FB and was unable to open the journal to see what I had worked out yesterday. The end results surpassed my expectations, and I have two more books in the pipeline which I must finish, and another couple of trips to look forward to as well. A great way to remember our travels, and to share experiences. ### 5/5 — Superb *2026-08-03, version 2.3.9* I love Travel Diaries, I can’t ever imagine travelling with out, I can instantly pen my thoughts and feelings as I travel, add pictures at the same time which adds context to my words, and also add a map and to track the journey. All of that helps during the journey and those following my trip, but helps me post journey to look back and see what I wrote and how I felt. I have had all my trip journals printed, and to have that book in my hand, a cup of tea and look back is immensely rewarding and satisfying. The team behind the App are amazing too and helped me, there are no glitches or errors it all works,!I contact the team when I can’t do something ( operator error). I end how I stated. Every time we were able to resolve the issue. The books we ordered look fantastic. I wanted a site that I could not just upload our photos, but also a space that I could add my journal from each day that not only captured the itinerary but also my emotions. I used AI to recommend sites and they suggested the Travel Diaries app. I received the book yesterday and it is so nice!!! The quality of the cover and pages along with the ease of setting it up including the variety of templates is why I rated this 5 stars. And it took less than 2 weeks to receive it. TravelDiaries were just fantastic, I accidentally ordered two copies quickly realised my error and contacted them. They checked it out and happily refunded cost of one however they sent the second as a ‘gift’. So very grateful, fantastic service and advice.
