### 3/5 — Correction

*2026-08-30, version 4.2.1*

I said you can’t edit trip . You can .
But when you put in a PIN it tells you a) you can only use a number twice but then refuses to accept it- you can only use a number once but it won’t let you start again. Had to close app, and restart all over again

### 4/5 — Somewhat difficult to use

*2026-08-27, version 4.2.1*

The app is easy but scanning the US passport chip was quite difficult. Also, getting a selfie was also difficult as I have facial paralysis & the app kept saying I was smiling (in actuality, I appear to always frown). Once the chip scan was successful, I continued but it never did accept my selfie.

### 2/5 — No option on a choice

*2026-08-21, version 4.2.1*

The app asked for a point of departure so I entered the airport code, name, city. None of them worked and there was no hint or other information to make a better choice.

### 2/5 — More than one traveller does not work

*2026-08-18, version 4.2.1*

The app allows you to add more than one traveller to a trip, in reality this does not work at the security checkpoint because the app is only on one phone any other additional people in that trip need to be with you at the time. In practice this does not work because as you go through security, you are split up to different checkpoints. To get it to work now each person in your party needs the app on their phone having created a single party trip for themselves.

### 1/5 — Restricted availability

*2026-08-10, version 4.2.1*

This only works if you’re traveling to Sweden or Portugal

### 1/5 — Not helpful

*2026-08-07, version 4.2.1*

Västerås was not listed as an airport to enter country

### 1/5 — Total joke of an app

*2026-08-06, version 4.2.1*

There is absolutely nothing I was able to do to get the document scanner to read my passport. Tried different lighting, backgrounds, etc. Whatever I tried it said either some lines weren’t visible or there were too many reflections or some other weird message. Terrible technology. Maybe the point of this whole system is to discourage people from visiting Europe?

### 1/5 — Waste of time

*2026-08-04, version 4.2.1*

Like everything EU, a complete waste of time

### 2/5 — Needs work

*2026-08-04, version 4.2.1*

We arrived for our first visit to Portugal (our first to Europe), and when the automated verification systems went down we were put into a line for manual processing instead (a nearly 2 hour wait). Figured we would try this app in case it could speed anything up, but no such luck:
- it wasn’t clear what the Schengen Area was (we’ve since learned, but perhaps the app could clarify that to new visitors?)

- It’s a very personable app, and refers to “you” as the first person, so it’s unclear when you’re adding companions that you haven’t actually included yourself as a traveller in the first place

- it asks how much each traveller is bringing into the country to potentially spend, but as a family, our money is collective. But there didn’t seem to be an option for that.

- when we were asked for our arrival date, it defaulted to the day after we had arrived, rather than the current day (perhaps expecting people would be doing this ahead of time?)

- when I clarified that we had arrived this morning, the app still treated that detail as an “Upcoming” flight

I was hoping to speed this process up, but at the point where it didn’t recognize that the flight we just took was in the past but was still upcoming, I figured there wasn’t going to be an upside from continuing to use the app.

Hoping it gets more clear and streamlined for future trips.

### 2/5 — Sadly not clear

*2026-08-02, version 4.2.1*

I followed the stepson the app to add my holiday journey to Portugal -sadly no entry point came up on the app to allow me to add my passport details or scan them and there was nothing in FAQ to enlighten me on why there was no opportunity given when using the app to do this. Waste of my time

### 2/5 — idea good - did not work at Malmö

*2026-08-02, version 4.2.1*

I was with a family party of 6 and thought filling this all in with my group the night before would help. Unfortunately the border guard, when shown our QR codes, had never seen them before! A poster for this app was right opposite her booth. To top it off, according to the entry system I was still in Schengen from March entry due to a system failure when it first rolled out. I am sure you can imagine the fun we had finding old flight tickets even though my passport had exit stamp!

### 2/5 — Scanner didn’t work on one of 5 passports

*2026-07-28, version 4.2.1*

Scanner didn’t work on one of 5 passports

### 3/5 — Lots of issues but eventually worked

*2026-07-22, version 4.2.1*

How to scan for my passport chip many times. Had to take a selfie at least 6 times. Not very reliable

### 1/5 — What is the point???

*2026-07-21, version 4.2.1*

I downloaded the app per instructions from the airline, completed an entry form before landing in Lisboa, but was never asked to see the QR code, neither by the kiosk machine or the passport agent. Literally, what is the point? It’s like someone thought it would be a great idea to have a mobile app but zero integration within the entry/exit process. Additionally, the app UX is awful.

### 1/5 — Useless

*2026-07-21, version 4.2.1*

It appeared to be working fine when I was setting it for my arrival in Porto, but when I arrived and opened it up, the details were no longer there and I was unable to re-enter the information on the walk to the passport control. Had to use the kiosks instead.

### 1/5 — Horrible

*2026-07-17*

No have more country. Have only Portugal and Sweden. I’m going to Italy, I wating this app for helping me in imigration, because my connection is short, but I cant use. If your no have every country in the app, this no has function.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback! Using the app is voluntary for EU countries who can choose whether they would like to use it for EES pre-registration. Currently the app can be used for entering Portugal and Sweden. More countries will be added later, so stay tuned for updates! The up-to-date list of countries can be found at europa.eu/ees.

### 1/5 — Selfie scanner

*2026-07-17, version 4.2.1*

Liveness detector kept not working and when retried took you back to the beginning

### 2/5 — Only worked one direction

*2026-07-16, version 4.2.1*

Doesn’t work when exiting Sweden as ‘Step 4 - Point of Departure’ does not return any results. Was great to use when entering Sweden though and saved lots of time.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2026-08-25, version 4.2.1*

Couldn’t even get the app to recognize an airport, wouldn’t move forward in process, doesn’t work.

### 1/5 — Pointless

*2026-08-25, version 4.2.1*

Nobody asked for it at the boarder (Portugal). Instructions on what to do with it on arrival are none existent. No exit options. Why bother

### 1/5 — Inability to recognize my face

*2026-08-21, version 4.2.1*

The app would not recognize my face. And then the “retry” option failed. Deleted app and reinstalled. Now works 🤷‍♂️

### 1/5 — Only works to Sweden and Portugal and charges you without permission

*2026-08-20, version 4.2.1*

This is a useless app unless you’re traveling to Portugal or Sweden and then the lovely $9.99 charge showed up in my account despite never having actually used the app. Report is being filed with Apple, I strongly urge you not to download this app.

### 1/5 — Useless

*2026-08-20, version 4.2.1*

Works in only 2 countries

### 1/5 — Inability to recognize my face

*2026-08-19, version 4.2.1*

The app scanned my passport ok but could not recognize my face. And then the “retry” option fails to work. Very poor quality app

### 1/5 — Brutal

*2026-08-11, version 4.2.1*

Will not read the chip on my passport

### 1/5 — Idioma só em inglês

*2026-08-11*

Sem opção de idiomas. Muito antigo

### 1/5 — Abysmal

*2026-08-11, version 4.2.1*

Worked on the way in to Sweden, but useless on the way out. Also only two countries signed up? Not like there’s been two years notice of EES or anything. App developer copy paste your response below please…

### 1/5 — Redundant and unclear

*2026-08-11, version 4.2.1*

Hate the app and it is not clear what they want for what traveller.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Mr Chambers

*2026-08-02, version 4.2.1*

Easy use

### 5/5 — To Sweden - great. From Sweden - failed

*2026-07-22, version 4.2.1*

Easy to use for the outward trip to Sweden (and we sailed through immigration at the airport) but it failed for the return journey. You have to specify a departure port/crossing but it didn’t recognise any ports, whether airports, sea ports or land crossings. It’s as though someone forgot to populate the database. So we can’t use the app to leave the Schengen area.

### 5/5 — Excellent in Faro

*2026-06-18, version 4.2.0*

The app work very well in Portugal. Once at the head of the queue the whole process at the terminal took a couple of minutes. Make sure you are in the right queue. Most Brits it seemed hadn’t used it so they had to type everything in there and then. So The non EU queue took 40 minutes but probably the “EU and others” line would have been faster and valid with a UK passport.

### 5/5 — Great

*2026-06-16, version 4.1.4*

Great editor navigate

### 5/5 — Excellent process

*2026-06-15, version 4.1.4*

Hoping this speeds up border control on entry to Sweden

### 5/5 — Plan ahead

*2026-06-14, version 4.1.4*

This was quick and easy to use and took less time than I thought.

### 5/5 — Lets you travel to Europe

*2026-06-03, version 4.1.4*

Lets you travel to Europe

### 5/5 — Easy to use

*2026-05-31, version 4.1.4*

The app seemed to speed things up quite a lot at passport control in Arlanda, Sweden. We still had to do the camera & fingerprint check but she clearly had all the remaining data to hand & it didn’t take so long as before.

### 5/5 — Easy to use

*2026-05-20, version 4.1.4*

Very easy and quick to fill out

### 5/5 — Dr.K

*2026-04-15, version 4.1.4*

So fast and easy!
