## What is TravelDiff?

Trips rarely go exactly to plan.

Sometimes you take a detour on a whim. Sometimes you have to reroute. Sometimes you only find out on the ground which places deserve a longer stay. Looking back through photos later, you often remember that you were there — but not why you chose that turn, why you changed your mind, or what you were thinking at the time.

TravelDiff is a travel tool you keep for yourself: lay out your itinerary in fields before you go, log what actually happened — and the decisions you made — against the plan while traveling, then turn it all into a complete trip review with one tap when you're home.

The name

TravelDiff's Chinese name, 行止隨緣 (xíng zhǐ suí yuán), joins two ideas: xingzhi — the goings and stayings of a journey — and suiyuan — choosing along with whatever the moment brings. This app doesn't try to fix the fact that plans rarely survive the trip. What it solves is this: when the journey diverges from the plan, how do you keep that stretch properly, so your future self can read it back and understand?

How it works

Before you go — lay the itinerary into fields

The fields every trip needs are ready: flight, hotel, room type, transport, sights, meals, optional activities. Fill in the Excel template and import it, build it by hand in the app, or upload an itinerary PDF or screenshots and let AI split it into fields (optional, paid).

On the road — log the actual against the plan

Just tap a field and fill it in: tonight's room type, what you ate, where you went, which bus you rode. Snap photos, get automatic timestamps, and jot one line about why you decided that way.

Back home — one tap to a full review

Trip overview, plan-versus-actual for every item, a timeline of free notes, and a photo appendix — all compiled into a single review report (HTML or Word). Keep it for yourself, send it to family, or simply file it away as the weight of a journey.

A travel journal that keeps the “why”

What sets this apart from an ordinary travel diary: it doesn't just record what happened — it holds on to why you decided it at the time.

Why you skipped that sight on day three and ducked into the café next door
Why you paid to upgrade the room, and whether it turned out to be worth it
Why you passed on that optional tour, and whether you'd regret it
Why you swapped seats — or rooms — with a travel companion

Time passes and we remember only the outcomes, not the judgment calls. Keep the why, and your review reads back as a complete story.

Fully offline, no sign-up

Recording on the road needs no network, no account, no registration — your data stays on your phone. Mountains, cruise ships, patchy signal abroad, airplane mode: you can always write.

Chronological records, edits preserved

Records are ordered by time, and edits keep the original version — nothing vanishes, nothing gets silently overwritten. Reading back, you can still see “what I thought at first, and how I changed it.”

Custom fields

Beyond the basic fields, add whatever the trip needs close at hand — emergency contact, travel insurance hotline, tour leader's number, car rental desk — and keep it filed with the itinerary.

Who it's for
Anyone who comes home thinking “wait, what actually happened that day?”
Anyone who wants a fuller memory of a trip than photos alone
Independent travel, group tours, business trips, site inspections — the more the trip strays from the plan, the more this tool earns its keep
Pricing

The app is free to download. All on-site recording, Excel template import, manual itinerary building, and review export are completely free, forever.

“AI itinerary parsing” is the only optional paid feature: buy parsing credits inside the app (consumable — pay per use). No subscription, no lock-in, no recurring charges. If you'd rather organize with the template or by hand, the full app is yours for free.
