### 5/5 — Wendy’s review of TCRE

*2025-01-30*

The Traverse City Record Eagle’s app is actually one of the better apps that I have used for local newspapers.
It is easy to navigate and is a well maintained, up to the date, news source.

### 5/5 — Easy to Read

The elapse is easy to read, and to progress from page to page. You can print the crossword from your laptop, and read the paper on phone.

### 5/5 — Great

*2024-11-03, version 3.15.06*

This App works like no other. Easy to load articles. Just set font for reading.

### 5/5 — Record Eagel

*2024-04-10, version 3.10.03*

The Traverse City, Record Eagle is a joy to read both because it’s a great paper and because the app works so well

### 5/5 — SO Important To Have Local News

*2024-01-18*

I didn’t realize how much I appreciate the Record-Eagle until I began investigating a move downstate to be closer to my daughters. It’s very difficult to find out what’s happening locally. I’m wondering how people know what their commissioners and others who serve the public are doing and hold them accountable. A nice plus about getting the Record-Eagle digitally (and a surprise to me) is you get 7 issues—2 more than the print edition. Thank you Record-Eagle for hanging in there when others have folded.

### 5/5 — Excellent navigation

*2024-01-14*

Seeing the paper online as its written in print is so nice for navigating and quickly understanding the overall content. But, being able to ‘click’ on an article and the having the app convert to easy reading mode, even on my phone (which I use all the time) makes this the best! Plus, a simple close function and it goes right back to the online version of the print for further navigation. Excellent app!

### 5/5 — D&c

*2023-12-25*

The best daily paper of all the ones I have ever had the enjoyment to read. Thanks for your dedication to objective , through and well written news daily. Starts our day, everyday!

### 5/5 — Great App

*2023-12-21, version 3.9.05*

Very user friendly.

### 5/5 — Easy to navigate

*2023-12-19, version 3.9.05*

My husband, who never uses a computer, easily uses this app to read his beloved paper on Mon and Tues. It is intuitive.

### 5/5 — TC strong

*2023-12-10, version 3.9.05*

Always enjoy insight and hard work of the Record Eagle

### 5/5 — Record Eagle a great way to connect in NW Michigan!

*2023-11-21*

I have been visiting Grand Traverse and the top of the mitt for 50 + years so I knew how to get around when I moved here. I had more than a dozen close friends who introduced me around but I needed to understand the culture, what makes juices flow hot and cold in the area.; who the movers and shakers are; what organizations get the right things done well.

My subscription to the Record Eagle went a long way to filling in all those details. What was left for me to do was get out and meet those people, find the overlap of my interests and abilities and the opportunities in the community.

### 5/5 — Excellent app for Excellent Newspaper

*2023-10-30, version 3.9.05*

The Record Eagle app is an excellent interface, easy to use and provides seamless access to this exceptional newspaper.

### 4/5 — Delivers the news

*2023-07-15, version 3.8.06*

Does what it needs to do. Menus and how to select editions could be clearer.

### 5/5 — Easy to access

*2023-07-04, version 3.8.06*

Easy to use this app on my iPad

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Where to begin...

*2020-05-16, version 2.8.26*

I thought I would try the app on my iPhone. My best suggestion to the powers that be is to find (build) a better online presence. This is overpriced and it doesn’t work well.

### 1/5 — WOW - one of the worst apps ever

*2018-11-03, version 2.8.26*

Hard to believe the app can be worse than their news coverage... if you want to know what is going on inTC, subscribe to the Ticker it’s free and better!

### 2/5 — Need more access

*2021-04-16*

I lived in Traverse City 17 years ago and have many friends and acquaintances there. I am not going to subscribe but I do read the obituaries to see if my friends have passed away. The Record Eagle used to allow me several articles before I was cut off, but now it is very limited. I am sorry about that.

### 2/5 — Unstable

*2020-08-02, version 3.2.11*

The new App is balky (articles frequently do not appear in the reading pane when touched) and unstable (App crashes too often). Needs work.

### 2/5 — Just ok

*2020-07-30*

The Record-Eagle app doesn’t work as well as it used to. I like to use the split screen feature where the entire page shows up on the left side, and when you tap an article that article shows up on the right. The app no longer works about half the time. It either does nothing when I tap an article or reverts back to page 1A. It’s become so annoying that I’m using the app less often.

### 2/5 — Changes Should Be Announced

*2020-07-20, version 3.2.11*

My computer skills are minimal. When apps are modified it would be civil to say changes are occurring and helpful to give instruction as to how to return to unmodified format.

### 2/5 — Completely non-intuitive

*2016-03-21, version 2.6.36*

After having subscription rates rise two times in 3-4 years, the Record Eagles consolation prize was their touting of the e-edition. I've used it in past and I recall it was fairly easy to navigate. Could easily find a certain day and a certain article that could be read, printed or forwarded in an email. Good stuff.

Now on vacation out of state and simply want to read about MSU basketball loss. No joy using the search hour glass or trying to find Saturday's edition. Always brings me back to articles a few hours old.

PLUS... the app decides to regularly quit and bring me back to square zero (happened twice).

Need some simple logical third grade gray matter applied to make this app work and justify our monthly rate. HELP someone!!😢😔

### 3/5 — Comic

*2023-05-29, version 3.8.06*

Need to add color to the comics

### 3/5 — Marginal technology

*2020-11-17, version 3.2.35*

Needs a tech update so we don’t have to sit and stare at blurry pages waiting for them to become clear.
Interesting local articles.
Someone needs to edit these for spelling errors.

### 3/5 — Have to re-log in for every story.

*2019-10-19, version 2.8.26*

Once I log in, I shouldn't have to re-log in for every story I want to read, other than the obituaries!

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

This app runs smoothly, and the content of the paper timely. I would certainly recommend this paper and site to anyone interested in this area.

### 5/5 — Favorite newspaper

*2026-03-20, version 3.18.13*

The RE online is awesome, the only thing I miss is having newspapers to start a fire.

But I can read it in “newspaper” form, and I appreciate that…plus the puzzle are great!!
