### 2/5 — Battery killer

*2026-07-03, version 3.01.15*

Ate 25% of my battery today whilst riding with my XT2

### 4/5 — Byroads

*2026-06-21, version 3.01.08*

Helps me find off road tracks/byroad easy

### 5/5 — Quickly Create An Alternate Route In The App

*2026-06-11, version 3.01.08*

I recently added the Garmin Tread 2 Overland Edition All-Terrain GPS Navigator to my collection of trail-riding tools for our 2026 Polaris Xpedition XP 5 NorthStar, and it has quickly become one of my favorites. Having owned and used Garmin GPS units for more years than I can count, I had high expectations, and the Tread 2 has exceeded them.

While there are many features I appreciate, the standout for me is the ability to create and modify routes on the fly using the Tread App. During a recent ride, we encountered multiple trail and road closures caused by flooding. Instead of stopping our adventure, I was able to quickly create an alternate route in the app and seamlessly transfer it to the Tread 2 navigator.

The process was simple, fast, and incredibly reliable, allowing us to stay focused on the ride rather than worrying about navigation. If you enjoy off-road adventures, overlanding, or exploring remote trails, the Garmin Tread 2 Overland Edition is an outstanding investment. Highly recommended!

### 5/5 — Great so far

*2026-05-29, version 3.01.08*

The unit works well syncing to other devices. Well done.

### 5/5 — just the job for Europe

*2026-05-26, version 3.00.14*

After upgrading from the old Zumo to the XT2 I found that using Tread made my journey to the Black Forest a lot easier than I thought. I like how easy it was to import/export my routes to the XT2.

### 5/5 — Lots of info

*2026-05-25, version 3.00.14*

App is jammed back full of info and constantly updated

### 5/5 — Garmin Treadmill App

*2026-05-11, version 3.00.14*

Great app and well put together. I use it for my Kawasaki Ridge.

### 3/5 — Ok. Crashes often

*2026-05-04, version 3.00.14*

Although it took ages for Garmin to include data for many Central American countries, they finally did and it’s rather detailed. However, the app is crash happy. I mean one crash after another just trying to do the simplest thing. If you can avoid using this app to plan navigation, do so.

### 2/5 — Extremely slow routing.

*2026-04-16, version 3.00.14*

When the app is working well I have built some great routes on it. But lately each section I try and add to my route, will just calculate for 10+ minutes. I’ve deleted a bunch of routes that I didn’t want to delete hoping it would free up memory and allow the app to work better/faster, that don’t work. I’ve deleted and reinstalled the app, that doesn’t work. It’s frustrating and disappointing that this has become my slowest mapping/routing app there is. I read that if your route is too long it’s better to break it up into smaller sections, trying to route from my home to a first stop it just sits there “calculating” forever. Somethings wrong.

### 2/5 — When will Garmin acknowledge issues?

*2026-04-15, version 3.00.14*

I won’t list the numerous issues with the app. Check the reviews and all becomes clear - very quickly. My question is simple - When will you acknowledge that Tread alters routes and fix it? Great idea. Poor in reality ☹️😵‍💫

### 5/5 — Great

*2026-04-08, version 3.00.14*

I’m able to upload routes from here to my Garmin Zumo xt2 with no problems.

### 2/5 — Average Product from Major Organization

*2026-04-03, version 3.00.14*

In April 2026 I’m at a loss to understand how major organizations like Garmin can be so challenged when developing software such as the Tread App. I appreciate that’s it’s not an easy task, but half baked is not helpful.
An application that “almost works” is effectively useless because it remains unreliable and that’s not something you need when planning routes. If Google Maps can do it, and its predecessor BaseCamp (although itself not perfect) could do it, why does Tread struggle.
From not being compatible with Windows PCs, to limited functionality on a Mac ( M1-4), to basic planning limitations around Shaping Points, and a fart of bugs and crashes, it’s just not up to scratch. Not to mention the limited and often out-dated Supprt information provided on the Garmin site.
Please dedicate more resources to refining and developing this software, but also be more transparent about the limitations and known bugs.
Users generally want to engage if they feel valued by the company - don’t abuse this with sloppy software development.

### 5/5 — Garmin Treadmill

*2026-03-25, version 3.00.14*

So far enjoying the Garmin tread hope it remains as accurate as it’s been so far.

### 5/5 — Love It For Importing GPX Files Into My Garmin zumo XT2/XT3

*2026-03-20, version 3.00.14*

I’m not currently using Garmin Tread for route planning, but it sure makes importing GPX files into my Garmin XT2/XT3 super easy.

### 5/5 — Welcomed surprise

*2026-03-09, version 3.00.03*

This app is very easy to use and works well and makes routing very easy.

### 5/5 — Great companion to the Tread GPS

*2026-03-09, version 3.00.03*

Syncs fast through both BT and Wi-Fi

### 5/5 — Easy to use

*2026-02-28, version 3.00.03*

I’m 75 years old and I easily understand this device

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Dozens of tracks lost

*2026-07-02, version 3.01.15*

Horrible. Many of my tracks disappeared from the map/app, and since it syncs with the GPS it also deleted them from the Zumo. Weeks of motorcycle trips completely gone.

This is due to bugs in the app as now I see several “Unknown Error” entries in the Collections when I do a Select and Edit”.

### 1/5 — Why is search so bad still?

*2026-06-27, version 3.01.08*

Why does search seem so terrible in the tread app? I’m shocked at how bad this app is. I thought about buying a new Garmin zumo XT 3 but if I am forced to use this terrible app to find locations I will skip it, especially at those prices, I expect way better software.

### 1/5 — Arghhh

*2026-06-07, version 3.01.08*

Every time the app is opened I’m asked to finish setup. Only so many times I can finish setting up the device!!!

### 1/5 — Appalling

*2026-02-10, version 2.12.50*

Tried for almost a complete day to upload gpx tracks/ routes to a Garmin XT2. Gave up, got my £430 back. I’ll use my phone and RWGPS.

### 1/5 — Can’t import GPX

*2026-02-09, version 2.12.50*

The app used to work well. In its current state you can’t import a GPX file without getting an error. Also when you create a new waypoint, you can’t save directly to a collection, as the app fails to name your current collections. This make what was once useful almost unusable

### 1/5 — Useless to me

*2026-01-01, version 2.12.43*

Since Garmin doesn’t have a computer based app to plan routes for the Zumo XT2 (which I was considering buying), I would like to see if this Tread app is going to be a suitable substitute for a computer based app. The problem is, you can’t check out the features unless you pair it first with the device, which I haven’t purchased yet. I don’t like the idea of planning routes on a small phone or tablet, so I would like to try out the Tread app before I commit to purchasing the Zumo XT2. Big fail, Garmin.

I have decided I won’t be buying the ZUMO XT2.

### 1/5 — Permanente Synchronisierungs Problem

*2025-10-22*

Toll wenn man mal schnell ne Tour aufs gerät senden will.

### 1/5 — Crashes Zumo XT2

*2025-10-05, version 2.12.31*

Connecting to the Tread app causes the Zumo XT2 to crash and reboot randomly. The only way to use the Zumo XT2 reliably is with the app disconnected.

### 1/5 — 12 hours and still can’t create a route or get consistent results

*2025-09-26, version 2.11.32*

developers seem to think everyone knows exactly how to decode icons. So it click and see what happens and in doing so erase all prior progress. Cannot use Garmin Explore to create routes only to share them with other people so it’s click zoom out, pan zoom on the phone and repeat. Created routes in Rever , Tom Tom web app and Google Maps and tried to import, got different errors for each app but result was the same, no import. Do some benchmarking of your competition and go back to the drawing board. For you Gen Z developers that’s means start over. I don’t think the developers have ever used a GPS or created routes in anything else other than AI testing environment

*2025-08-24*

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Bisher super

*2026-08-05*

### 5/5 — Ginny B

*2026-08-04, version 3.01.15*

Greatest app for anyone to use

### 5/5 — Perfect pair for my XT

*2026-07-25, version 3.01.15*

Makes the track download super easy

### 5/5 — Tread app Ktm 1290

*2026-07-25, version 3.01.15*

Great app keeps regular updates - auto connects to phone - loads of features - great A+ 💪

### 5/5 — Great up to date data

*2026-07-22, version 3.01.15*

Accurate data thx

### 5/5 — Great app

*2026-07-16, version 3.01.15*

It’s a great app. I wish the tread 2 can export “activities” not just routes so you don’t see millions of little flags along the route when reviewing track logs on the explore website.

### 5/5 — Tread overland xl

*2026-07-05, version 3.01.15*

Excellent

### 5/5 — Brilliant

*2026-06-16, version 3.01.08*

Couldn’t be easier uploading gpx files, loads of features beyond that too, very pleased and it syncs with my zumo xt2 really easily

### 5/5 — Einfaches und zeitgemäßes Handling

*2026-06-15*

### 5/5 — Best yet

*2026-06-15, version 3.01.08*

This is the best app linked to a satnav I’ve had and I’ve had a few
