## What is TreatJar?

Between bribing and yelling, there's a third option.

TreatJar is a family app that keeps two things separate: the good behavior kids should do because they're part of a family, and the real jobs they can earn money for. Stars for kindness, effort, and good habits. Real money for real jobs. One app, two views. Parents get the dashboard, kids get the store.

Built for families, TreatJar gives parents a structured alternative to the two places every chore conversation usually lands: bribing for cooperation or losing your cool when bribing stops working.

HOW IT WORKS

GOOD BEHAVIOR EARNS STARS
Award stars for kindness, trying hard, helping a sibling, remembering manners, or any good behavior worth reinforcing. Stars aren't pocket money. They're recognition that reinforces the behavior. Kids can redeem them in the family store for experiences, privileges, or treats, whatever you decide fits your family.

REAL JOBS EARN MONEY
Create real jobs with real pay rates: taking out the trash, tidying up, walking the dog. When a kid completes the job, the money shows up in their balance. They can save for something they're working toward, or spend it in the family store on things you've pre-approved.

A FAMILY STORE YOU BUILD TOGETHER
No generic catalog. You decide what's available and how much it costs, in stars or in dollars. A movie night with mom. Screen time. A new book. A trip to the ice cream shop. Kids see what's on offer and work toward it. You see the whole picture from the parent dashboard.

TWO VIEWS, ONE APP
Parents get a full dashboard: every star, every job, every goal, every balance. Kids get a view designed for them: big buttons, clear visuals, a store to browse, progress they can see. Switch between views anytime.

FAMILY CHALLENGES
Set shared goals the whole family contributes to. Watch the progress bar fill as everyone chips in.

A NOTE FROM THE FOUNDER
I built TreatJar because I was tired of oscillating between bribing my kids and losing my cool when bribing didn't work. The parenting thinkers I trust all say the same thing: don't pay kids for kindness, but do build structure around contribution. I couldn't find a product that let me do both. So I built one.

TreatJar is grounded in what child development research says about intrinsic versus extrinsic motivation. I'm not claiming it'll transform your family in a week. I am saying it'll give you something structured to reach for when "please put your shoes on" has been said four times.
