My only problem is, sometimes, including right now, it just doesn’t open. I’ve logged in, but it doesn’t load. There’s just a loading spiral. Whether I tell it not to or not, the app will charge me the $10 “pitch in” amount for helping the environment. I recently got a new watch and it will not count the steps from it no matter what I do. Only counts steps While I carry my phone. Example: today at 7:53 pm I have 3554 on my watch and less than 2000 on the app. I’m old as dirt and have health issues, so for me that’s a lot of steps and a lot of steps to lose. Bummer!! ### 2/5 — No customer service *2025-10-05, version 3.0.5769* I really hate writing a bad review, because part of it is that they’re too efficient. I’ll explain. So I ordered some plants off the app, and very quickly realized I should check to make sure they’re safe in my house with my cats who love to chew on plants. Turns out the plants are toxic to cats. Within an hour of ordering, I asked if my order could be canceled. I used two different methods of contact to do this. While a couple of days later, I did get a message saying they would forward my concern to someone higher up, that’s all I’ve heard from them. Meanwhile, this box of toxic plants is in my house, and they haven’t responded to any further correspondence about returning it. I wouldn’t have minded swapping the plants out, and not getting the refund, but now I won’t get another plant from them again. It’s really disappointing. ### 4/5 — Almost perfect *2025-09-20, version 3.0.5769* I have loved this app for years. It’s great feeling like I can make a small difference in the world. My only complaint is that I have been unable to upgrade to super walker- I have a huge amount of rewards and wish I could upgrade. When I asked for help, they replied quickly and offered to fulfill my rewards manually, because there is some kind of a bug that won’t allow me to upgrade. But I haven’t done that because that feels too complicated and the rewards aren’t that important to me, I just like planting trees for walking. However I do hope the bug gets fixed so I may upgrade to plant more trees and maybe use these reward stars! ### 3/5 — I don't know how I feel about this app *2025-08-15, version 3.0.5769* I've had this app for about 5 years and I've recommended it to multiple people because I love the concept but I just keep being disappointed. Years ago I was able to get a little succulent with my points so I thought it was reliable but I tried getting another plant, bracelets, magnets, and something else I think but it never came. Also I literally just used my points for a plant voucher and I clicked the link to claim it but it said there was nothing available. Also I can't even adopt an animal anymore, I have a rhino and a whale and I have no idea how they're doing. I was trying to save up points but I honestly think I'm just going to use all my points on removing plastic and then delete the app. I would really love this if it felt more reliable. Also I don't like that when you hit your steps goal and forget to claim the points for a while it doesn't count the steps you took before you claimed it. ### 1/5 — Pretty sure it’s a scam *2025-08-04, version 3.0.5769* This app charges me $15 a month and I can’t even open it despite it being up to date and deleting and reinstalling it many times over the course of the last year. When I go to the website to try to cancel, there’s no way to login. Only through the app. I can’t use rewards or even cancel my subscription. And it’s changed a lot. They used to have better options for rewards that felt more focused to the planet which I thought was the whole goal and now it just feels like a sell out. Every reward costs something and honestly the rewards aren’t that good. I wanted to help out with local bee populations and remembered you used to be able to get wildflower seed packets for a certain amount of points for free so I wanted to try and work up to it, come to find out the only reward they have that they used to have is getting plastic out of oceans. Which obviously that’s good too, but the rest of the rewards are coupons off dog food and air pods and it’s just not what I’m here for. I just felt a bit disappointed I guess. The big reward back then was the national park membership. The app is very practical and easy to use and building your island is so much fun! I am not exactly the fastest or the most efficient with my steps but was really excited to get the National Parks Pass. They took it off about a year ago. Logging with google says i used an actual username/password, but that section says my account doesn’t even exist despite the fact that it does actually exist. Your island is not saved locally (only on the account) so you lose it entirely when logged out like this and have to “start over” from another account. ### 1/5 — Used to be a debit card company *2026-01-06, version 3.0.5769* First was a cute idea to open an account and you could plant trees. Costed $50 which was supposed to be refundable if you closed your account they closed it because of whatever issues they had. Never got any checks in the mail for my money. I get it $50 wasn’t much but it’s the fact that they couldn’t be trusted. I even still have the physical debit card because out of nowhere they up and closed it on me. ### 1/5 — 0/10 customer support *2025-12-05, version 3.0.5769* I’ve been trying to redeem a reward for almost 60 days now. I message the customer support chat and generally get a response around 10 days later. Took over 40 days to find out it was delivered to the wrong address, and when I went to the delivery address the folks living there said they never received the package. Whether or not that is true, I have notified customer service of this and am still waiting on a response. ### 1/5 — Still charging my card *2025-11-30, version 3.0.5769* I deactivated the chip in months ago and took my card off the app but it still is taking money out each month. This is completely unacceptable. ### 1/5 — Disabled Account *2025-10-22, version 3.0.5769* Couldn’t login via AppleID one day, so reached out to support. They told me my account was disabled with no way to reverse this. I have to ask: why? I only use the step tracker portion and it syncs with my Watch, Apple Health, etc - I built up ALOT of points over the years and never really spent any - so it seems like my account was simply disabled to stop me from redeeming any of those points at a latter point - aka this seems very suspicious. The app had been going downhill before this, but this is literally the cherry on top. ### 1/5 — Less and less of an impact as time goes on *2025-09-26, version 3.0.5769* I used to love this app, but they’ve slowly been making it less and less impactful. The 48k step trees used to plant an entire tree, but now they’re only worth .3 of a real tree. They also stopped doing the animal adoption, despite saying that it’ll be back soon for years. Additionally, the 100 star points you can redeem for removing 4 water bottles from the ocean now only removes one water bottle, but it still is labeled as removing 4. I’m still going to use this app, as any impact on the betterment of the environment is a net positive, but I can’t help but be disappointed in how things have been going on here. ### 1/5 — Long standing glitch *2025-09-09, version 3.0.5769* I used to love this app and used to have no problem with it. But over the last few months, there has been a glitch that has impacted my ease of use. In order to get up to the 8 trees per week, you need to have your bank connected, but lately the app has continuously disconnected my bank. And reconnecting wouldn’t get the count back up to 8, I’d have to also uninstall the app, redownload it, and reconnect to my bank again. And the occurrence of this has been happening more and more frequently. I have tried to reach out to customer support and report the glitch, but I haven’t heard anything back. That and the fact that the last update for the app was 7 months ago makes me believe there’s no one or barely anyone even working on this app anymore. ### 1/5 — TAKES YOUR MONEY *2025-08-29, version 3.0.5769* Takes your money without your consent ### 1/5 — They stole my money *2025-08-12, version 3.0.5769* I constantly got pop-ups every time I opened the app to donate money every month. I got annoyed saying I didn’t want to donate, so I deleted the app. Months later, I start getting charged $10/month without signing up for anything and without ANY email notification whatsoever. When I finally noticed after 7 months, I emailed the support center, who did help and were kind. However, I was only refunded 3/7 of the payments so I’m still missing over half of the money they took from me without asking or telling me. I reached back out to support and haven’t heard back. They deleted my account as well, which I requested. According to the website, once an account is deleted, there is no way to refund any money. I’m not going to lose any sleep over $40. I’m just irked my money got stolen. Don’t trust this company. I like the feature where you pick which type of tree you plant. The tree valley is very cute. By swapping trees with another Treecard member on a weekly basis, I’ve managed to plant 315 real trees! I appreciate this app so much as a way to do something positive for the environment for free. I will admit that I haven’t used some of the other features, like claiming physical rewards or donating on a monthly basis, but I’m happy to give this app 5 stars for all of the trees I’ve been able to plant. I really hope this app continues to stay active.
