### 5/5 — Useful

*2017-03-12, version 2.9*

The best thing is the compass which always point along your path so you know if you've missed a turn off (easily done!). Great tool. I used it a lot.

### 5/5 — Makes it easy

*2017-01-06, version 2.9*

I downloaded this app on day 3 of our 42 trip after getting misplace (lost) walking into Pamplona from this point on that never happened again. It was especially good when walking into the bigger city's, but was also useful just to check which was the right way to go when the yellow arrows were a bit confusing as some times you won't have anyone in front of you. The other helpful function was which towns had ATM's ( cash machines) as some times it was days before you come across them. Get the app and you won't be 2nd guessing which way to go.

### 5/5 — Cuts

*2016-09-11*

On the Camino right now and using this app every day. I love that lets me know where I am, how far I have to go and that it doesn't require Internet or a data plan when I'm in the middle of nowhere. Easy to use.

### 5/5 — Off-line map is invaluable!

*2016-07-06, version 2.4*

Our little family of 3 travelled the Camino in May and found this app a God send. When you are wrangling little ones or stomping out many meditative trail kilometres the off-line maps are invaluable when navigating in towns or the picturesque countryside. The accomodation information was fantastic too. I had two different Camino apps, this was the one we used multiple times every day on our way.

### 5/5 — Peace of mind

*2016-05-16*

This app has it ALL and will give you peace of mind for your Camino. Eugene (the developer) is very responsive and experienced with the routes. He keeps the app up to date through his own and others' experiences. He recently added a stand-alone Sarria to Santiago route which is just what I needed. The app is easy to use and does not depend on WIFI, which is pretty important! I mostly used it the night before my walks to see what was coming up. The maps and various listings are there for you whenever/wherever you are, but good pilgrim that he is, he suggests leaving your phone in your pocket and enjoying The Way. I highly recommend this app.

### 5/5 — Perfect companion for the Camino

*2016-05-14*

I used TrekRight to hike 300+ miles of the Camino Frances this April/May, and it was a great companion! The GPS feature allows you to see exactly where you are on a stage even when your cellular data is turned off. This feature was particularly helpful when a section of the Camino was flooded out, and I had to find a detour. It also found use when a “helpful” albergue owner decided to re-route the Camino by blacking out the official Camino arrows and adding his own. (Despite these comments, let me stress that the Camino is VERY well marked, and a GPS app is not strictly necessary.) The app was also much easier to access than my guide book, which I kept in my pack.

If you are planning to stay only in albergues, this app could potentially replace a guide book; however, I found it helpful to have both.

### 5/5 — Must have App for the Camino

*2016-05-14, version 2.4*

Must have App on the Camino
Worth it for the Offline maps and GPS positioning so you can see your own position moving, see where the Camino way is, find the way to your Albergue, bank, supermarket - all off line so no wi-fi needed.
Can design your own stage breaks to plan your days - no more adding kms, just move the stage break and automatic new totals transfer into the daily info.
Then during day the App tells you accurately how far to the end of each section, each stage and also to Santiago, incl percentages!
Check the visual elevation graphs each day to see what the challenge is.
We were always impressing others with our detail.
But got lighter and lighter on background info on history, and points of interest so recommend another source for reading up the night before.
But great support from Eugene at home base - he is constantly updating and improving it.
So make sure you have TrekRight in your pocket for frequent reference during the day - it's a must have.

### 5/5 — Used successfully for four weeks on the Camino

*2016-05-09*

Nice app. Missing a few of the newer albergues, but spot on for the French route. And a lot more portable than the Brierly book, though also a lot more susceptible to battery drain.

### 5/5 — Indispensable

*2016-05-05, version 2.3*

We have just completed 40 days on the Camino, St Jean to Cee. In the beginning we only had the book as a guide. By the end this app was all we were using.

The best feature is the map that not only shows the ways to go, but (even with data turned off) where you are as well. It's affirming when you're on track, helpful when you've strayed.

Distance travelled, distance to go in the many sections also very useful, as are places to sleep, eat and see. Instructions are very clear.

A great app that can help keep pack weight down.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2016-02-17, version 1.9*

I've used it to plan my Camino Frances and estimate the time it will take to complete. With the amount of useful info about each location I am confident I won't need to carry the extra weight of a guide book. It's easy to use once you have a play. I was stumped at one point but got a prompt and helpful answer when I sent off a question to Eugene. It is well worth the cost

### 5/5 — Very useful!

*2016-01-12, version 1.9*

I am glad that I found this app, it made our vacation a lot easier!

### 5/5 — Wow - Fantastic for the Camino

*2015-06-19, version 1.8*

Wow! I had downloaded the app awhile ago and didnt realise how useful it was until one day when on the Camino. I opened it after having already walked quite a distance and realised it was an excellent go to app for how much further, how far we had travelled and, most importantly with the compass feature which way now. Sometimes the yellow arrows are missing or just aren't clear - this app helped us solve the problem many times. Could not imagine the Camino Frances without it! Highly recommended.

### 5/5 — Great Guide to the Camino de Santiago

*2015-06-19*

I have just returned from walking a small section of the Camino de Santiago (just 200 km) and I could not have done it as easily, aside from all the walking, without this fantastic app. I am an American and I chose to go without turning on my cell phone’s data connection and TrekRight’s offline GPS enabled map was the perfect companion on the trail. I had every bit of information in all of the guidebooks and I had my current position with me at all times. There is an incredible wealth of information about the trail, the towns that you will pass through, the albergues, and the twists and turns along the way. You can use turn by turn instructions, follow the map, use the compose, check out the elevation profile of the next day, and have a very reliable guide to the distances involved (not a given with the written guides).

In addition to all of that, I was able to email new information about the trail to the trail while I was walking it. The developer was friendly, approachable, detail-oriented and happy to assist. I cannot recommend this app enough to anyone who wants to walk the trail. It was less expensive than any guidebook was a complete compendium of the many that are available. Great app, helped take the stress and guesswork out of what was ahead on the Camino, especially toward the end of a 27 km day.

### 5/5 — Looks good, but.

*2015-05-16, version 1.8*

Chose this app. because it will work offline. Planning our journey and wanted to highlight alburges that have been recommended, mark as favourite but this does not highlight them, apply filter and all others disappear. Let's hope it works okay on the Camino.

### 5/5 — Seamustasmania

*2015-04-07, version 1.6*

Brilliant ! My second camino and this app is by far better than anything else I've come across .. Five star plus

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Can’t download

*2025-05-06, version 3.70*

So I used this app to walk from Sarria to Santiago, and Porto to Santiago in 2023. It was great. I offloaded it in between times until recently (2025) when I’ve loaded the app again. It just won’t let me reload the maps. I’m so frustrated and unhappy with it as I’m now going to have to pay for a different app to get decent maps. I’ve tried to use the app support link, but I just keep getting ‘page not recognised’.

### 1/5 — Out of date and overpriced

*2019-09-19*

I bought this with the high hopes that it would be equal to Camino Pilgrim which is available only for Android devices. I was very disappointed.

**Developer response:** Hello. I'm sorry that TrekRight wasn't what you were looking for. Please contact me by email at trekright@trekopedia.com and let me know how we could make the app better meet your needs. We're always trying to improve both the app and our Camino content. Buen Camino!

### 1/5 — Poorly designed

*2018-10-18*

You can’t change the route sections. If you can there are no clear directions. While walking it does not provide much in way of guidance. Most expensive app on El Camino provides zero utility.

**Developer response:** Hi there. I'm sorry you didn't find TrekRight suitable for your needs. If you contact me by email I can assist you in using it. You are definitely able to change the route sections (they are highly customizable, actually). The built-in yellow arrow points the way to walk based on your current location and your chosen route. There are walking directions and notes about attractions. Progress stats are available showing distance completed and remaining for your current section, stage, and route. The offline maps have hill shading and contour lines to show you the terrain you are going through. And more. We're very responsive to all feedback and are always happy to help if you have any questions.

### 1/5 — Not working on ios 9

*2015-09-23*

Hello, it stopped working after upgrading to ios9

### 4/5 — Great app for determining your location and route on the Camino

*2017-06-22*

I've just finished (June 2017) using the app while walking from Leon to Santiago. Because the app is resident on your phone, you don't need an internet connection. Thus no "data" consumption, which is nice for thrifty North American pilgrims. It does a very good job of tracking your progress along the route, and advising of upcoming topography change and directions.

Because the number of pilgrims is growing quickly and the communities along the route are responding to their needs, it is impossible for any app to keep up with the latest accommodations, restaurants, and bars. A major improvement in these aspects would be nice, but probably short lived. For this reason, no app could be rated 5 stars, imho.

And yes, I strongly recommend it to any iPhone using pilgrim.

**Developer response:** Hi - thanks for the feedback! We're glad you found TrekRight helpful on your Camino. Next time we hope to earn that 5th star from you! :-) Safe travels home.

### 5/5 — Fabulous App!

*2023-06-26, version 3.70*

I used this app for my camino from SJPDP to Santiago… it was my lifeline kept me sane on where the next cafe was the next water fountain etc

The map feature was brilliant for getting me back on the track particularly in cities and when I was nervous I was off track

Thank you loved your app and loved my camino!

### 5/5 — A Brilliant App!

*2022-05-30, version 3.70*

This app was my primary support guide for the entire Camino Frances. I strongly recommend buying it for peace of mind, especially if you are a solo (female) hiker as I was. The signage on this Camino is excellent, but the app was invaluable for location confirmation, distance left to walk and supplementary information.

### 5/5 — Excellent app

*2022-04-29, version 3.70*

I used this app for my Camino in 2017 and it was excellent. I didn’t have to use it every day but when I did need it, this app was helpful and got me back on track or confirmed I was going the right way. It was easy to use and I was glad I had it.

### 5/5 — Perfect App for the Comino

*2019-04-29, version 3.29*

I customized this app as it pertained to my 200 km walk...no complaints whatsoever. ✅✅

### 5/5 — Camino

*2019-04-08, version 3.29*

It’s absolutely a must app to have on the Camino, a bit of experimental actions needed to familiarize your self, but once accomplished, great to use especially if you want to know exactly where you are

## Most praised reviews (5 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Excellent

*2019-02-10, version 2.97*

Used this last September to walk first 200miles of camino France's. Found it very useful.

### 5/5 — Great App for the Camino!

*2018-08-29*

Kept me from getting lost on more than one occasion. Also helped me locate lodging. Excellent maps!

Drop me an email at feedback@trekopedia.com if you have any suggestions on how we can improve the app or our Camino content. And send me a photo or two! 🤠

### 5/5 — Amazing Offline Maps!

*2018-06-11*

I just finished walking the Camino de Frances on June 30, 2018 and was highly impressed with this app! The maps were so helpful when WiFi was not available as they work offline! Additionally, I found some great albergues and hostels to stay at! I recommended this app along the Camino to several pilgrims!

**Developer response:** Thanks for the very nice review! I'm glad you found the app helpful during your Camino. Please contact us and let us know about anything you think we should change, add, or improve in the app -- we're always trying to make it better. And if you have suggestions on other long-distance routes you think we should cover, we'd love to hear about them. Safe travels!

### 5/5 — Superb

*2018-05-31, version 2.97*

This app is outstanding. I have walked the Camino Frances a dozen times and downloaded it out of curiosity rather than need on the tenth occasion. The offline map with geolocation has made it indispensable and the easy to read distance from/to meter is very handy. The information on terrain, accommodation etc is good and serves both first time walkers and forgetful ones very well.

### 5/5 — Better than any guidebook

*2017-03-23*

This is the first app review I've ever written - Trekright's Camino Frances guide is so incredible that I needed to let other people know! This guide is an absolute must have, with specifics on albergues, routes and distances, city facts and histories, and most importantly, GPS-linked maps! You can see exactly how far you need to go to your next destination, or make sure you're on track in the early morning before the sun comes up. Cannot recommend this app more - I tossed my travel book after two days in favor of it
