### 5/5 — Great lightroom alternative

*2026-08-20*

Awesome minimal app for inverting negatives. I only do B&W and I'm surprised at how often the auto-sample feature gives me a solid result close to what I would choose manually. Does it have all the granular controls of LR? Of course not, but I'm not a professional and this is absolutely good enough. Plus I'm not giving adobe my money!

A couple features that would be nice in the future:
- Bulk or Queued editing (select a bunch of pics and then either auto-sample them all or go one by one, edit & save and then automatically load up the next pic)
- Better "save" workflow. Right now you hit save, then save again. Would be nice if I could have it default to "save to camera roll"
- sampling reticule - I understand why the crosshair lands directly under your fingertip, but I'd prefer to "grab" the outer edge of the circle so I can actually see where the reticule is without my fingertip covering it. Just a nitpicky thing.

Great work!

**Developer response:** Thank you! This is fantastic feedback.

My original objective was to make negative conversion quick and straightforward without requiring a huge editing workflow, so it’s great to hear that auto-sample is working well for you.

I really like your suggestions too, particularly the edit/save/advance workflow and the sampling reticule. Making it easier to work through a whole roll is something I’m very interested in improving.

Thanks again for taking the time to write such a thoughtful review. Jim

### 1/5 — App not working!

*2026-07-07*

I tried loaded negative photos and wouldn’t work.

**Developer response:** Thanks for your feedback, and I’m sorry the app didn’t work as expected. I’d really like to help. If you can get in touch via the support link in the App Store and let me know what type of negative you were using (or send a sample image), I’ll investigate straight away. Your feedback helps make Trevni better

Update (2/9/26): I’ve identified and fixed an issue affecting some RAW workflows. The latest version now properly loads and develops various RAW formats at full resolution, including DNG and ProRAW.

### 4/5 — Really useful

*2026-05-12*

Great app. I use it with my light table to preview before printing in my enlarger. I wish it had a straightening option, so I could pick my image corners and have corrections.

**Developer response:** Thanks so much. Really glad to hear Trevni is fitting into your darkroom workflow. That’s a great shout on straightening and corner correction too, especially when working from photographed negatives on a light table. Definitely something I’d like to explore in a future update.

### 4/5 — Fast gut

*2026-01-27*

### 5/5 — Greatest app I have ever found

*2026-01-22*

This app is hands down the best I’ve found for converting negatives into high-quality digital photos. Whether I’m working with old black-and-white rolls or color film, the results are consistently accurate, sharp, and true to the original. The color restoration is impressive—no strange tints or washed-out tones—and the black-and-white conversions retain beautiful depth and detail.

What really sets this app apart is its ability to balance precision with ease of use. The scanning and inversion process is smooth, and the built-in correction tools allow fine adjustments without needing extra software. It feels like having a darkroom in your pocket, but faster and more reliable. If you’re serious about preserving old film memories with professional-quality results, this app delivers. It doesn’t just digitize negatives—it brings them back to life. Having processed several thousand negatives with this app, I can confidently assert that the latest update has greatly improved its overall performance. The enhancements have introduced a more streamlined workflow and elevated the user experience, making it easier than ever to achieve exceptional results.

**Developer response:** Thank you so much for this. I’m really happy to hear the results have been consistent across both colour and black-and-white film. It means a lot that the balance between quality and ease of use is working well for you. “A darkroom in your pocket” is exactly what I was aiming for. Thanks for the thoughtful review and support!

### 1/5 — Looks good - doesn't help

*2026-01-20*

The UI looks simple and good. But it doesn't really help.
I can't take pictures directly from the app - I'd even expect a (nearly) live conversion of what I can see via camera. You need to take pictures separately (or have them already in your photo gallery. You need to give full access to your Photos gallery (seems that you can only change allowances via iOS settings.
Annoying. Wasted 2,99 €

**Developer response:** Thanks for the review and you’re right... Trevni currently works with existing photos rather than offering in-app or live camera capture, and I'm sorry that wasn’t clear enough upfront.

I understand how that gap can make the app feel unhelpful, especially if you’re looking for a more immediate, camera-first experience.

I’m actively improving onboarding, photo access handling, and exploring in-app capture so the workflow feels clearer and more useful from the start. Your feedback directly shapes where Trevni goes next.

Thanks for giving it a try and for taking the time to call this out.

— UPDATE 26 NOV 2025 —

The app now uses a new photo access approach: it does not have general photo access and only has write permission to save images. Loading a photo is a one-time, user-initiated permission action for that image alone and fully respects iOS privacy controls.

I’ve also fixed an issue where selected images could fail to load when using Limited Access.

I do hope you’ll consider Trevni again as part of your workflow, and please feel free to get in touch if you have any questions or feedback.

### 1/5 — Worthless

*2025-11-08*

Not intuitive and you have to import images of your negatives to use this. Wish I hadn’t spent $1.99 on this waste of time. Quality of image was abysmal.

**Developer response:** Thanks for the feedback. This app is designed to work with already-photographed or scanned negatives, which I clearly need to explain better in the description. I’m sorry it wasn’t what you expected.

### 5/5 — Best $1.99 spent

*2025-09-25*

I was using an app with an inverted filter and I also used an app that scans negatives but they don’t compare to this app. It’s so easy to use and easy to adjust the photos. I love it.

**Developer response:** Thank you so much for the kind words and support! I’m really glad you’re enjoying the app and finding it easy to use. It means a lot to hear it compares so well to other tools, and that the adjustment controls are useful for your workflow.

### 5/5 — Todor R.

*2025-07-05*

A fantastic app with impressive attention to detail. I was going through a pile of old negatives, and Trevni made it incredibly easy to bring those forgotten moments back to life, and share them with loved ones. It brought smiles to many faces, including mine. Highly recommend!

**Developer response:** Thanks for the recommendation and support! I’m really glad the app helped bring those memories back to life and made sharing them easier - that’s exactly what it was built for. Hearing that it brought smiles truly means a lot.

Full-resolution export:
Save your finished positive as JPEG, HEIC or TIFF. TIFF keeps every pixel for further editing; JPEG and HEIC are better for sharing.
