All I need is an iPad and some red plastic to further dim the screen and i can leave the paper charts at home. Orientation flipping for refractor and Newtonian owners and an colour invert red mode to preserve night vision add to the usefulness vs paper charts. Be nice when I want some simplicity along side of SkySafari Pro. ### 5/5 — Ein echter Sternatlas *2013-01-23* Eine sehr gute App. Keine Planetariumssoftware wie SkySafari, sondern die Karten des Triatlas bis 13mag Grenzgröße auf dem iPad. Wie eine gut sortierte Sammlung von pdf´s oder jpg´s. Sehr einfache, aber praxisgerechte Bedienung. Die Karten sind von guter Qualität und auf dem iPad auch gut zu lesen. Auf dem iPhone stelle ich es mir wegen dem kleineren Bildschirm aber schwierig vor. Zur zoombaren Ansicht gibt es auch einen Rotlichtmodus, der stufenlos abblenbar ist. Die Ansicht kann seitenverkehrt (Zenitprisma) oder auf dem Kopf (Newton) eingestellt werden. Mit 440MB aufgrund der großen, detaillierten Karten sehr groß im Speicher. Aber nach meinem Kenntnisstand ohne Alternative im Appstore. Und dazu noch kostenlos. Klare Empfehlung! ### 5/5 — Does what it says on the tin! *2013-01-18, version 1* Lovely, very simple app which provides very easy access to detailed star maps. I eventually found that the adjacent map tags are hotlinks to the relevant charts. Several suggestions... *2013-01-28* Brilliantly designed; a tour de force in bringing the classic star atlas to the iPhone/iPad. Has nice touches such as a brightness slider & night mode always present discretely at the bottom left of the page. Moving from chart to chart is well designed with buttons on the edges of the screen to go to the adjacent ones. Perhaps the next iteration of the app can add a feature whereby if you swipe at the edge of the screen it will move to the adjacent chart. Pinch-zooming works well, too. Another suggestion: Please shift the main index page over by a chart or two. One of the first things I looked for was the Virgo galaxy cluster-- and it's hard to find! You need a chart centered on the space between Virgo and Leo-- and that area of the sky needs to be somewhere other than buried at the absolute right side end of the scrolling index big chart-- and even there it's impossible to tell where to tap! I would love to see a colors option whereby one could set the colors of different types of DSOs--galaxies in, say, blue; globulars in yellow, star clusters in orange, etc. That would make this even more usable. In any event, any serious amateur astronomer would do well to download this app--and being free--why not?! ### 4/5 — Deep star charts *2013-01-17* Deep star charts that are easy to read and navigate through. Brightness control and red night-vision mode is a nice touch. I've been using printed Triatlas charts for a long time, but having them handy on a mobile device is terrific. ### 4/5 — Great Reference! *2013-01-16* For us amateur astronomers this sky atlas is a fantastic reference indeed. Torres for creating these detailed and beautiful maps and making them available free. Also many thanks to Norbert Schmidt for developing this very useful app. The maps are very detailed and easy to use. I really appreciate the switch to red for night vision. Mostly though the fact that I can flip the map inverted for my Newtonian and flip right to left for my refactor or Maksutov telescopes is the best part. This enables me to duplicate the field I am seeing in the eyepiece and compare it with the map field. The fact that the maps are detailed enough makes this all work. The app works smoothly easily and is not glitchy making this a solid and dependable package I enjoy using with one of the most detailed star atlases available. ### 5/5 — Detailed star charts well presented *2016-10-17* This star atlas is based on the charts made by José Ramón Torres and Casey Skelton. It is a very welcome addition to my iPad. The presentation and use is simple and basic and that is good. I like the rotate and flip options and the navigation via the chart pointers. And there's a night-vision (red) mode. Great work! vielen Dank, Hr. Schmidt ### 5/5 — Excellent App! *2015-08-05* The Triatlas is one of my favorite sky atlases. I like having the app so I only need to print the 50 or so pages of the "A" set, and I can access the other two sets when I am outside with my telescope. I really enjoy being able to turn the brightness way down and turn on red on black to preserve night vision.
