Playing on Trickster can be a lot of fun and frustrating at the same time. While they are constantly making improvements and adjusting the "computer" players actions, your ratings can plummet because of their programming. From the sheer variety of Spades game rules to the reasonable competence of the bots Trickster has created a set of games far above all other competitors. Add the fact that they have a great variety of games in addition to Spades and you have a top-notch destination for hours of challenging enjoyment. Hats-off to you Trickster! ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Racist and sexist advertisement *2020-05-09, version 2.5.1* We enjoyed playing this with family and friends until an astoundingly awful advertisement showed up on my friend’s screen. I won’t repeat the title due to the overt racism but it is simply terrible. Deleting the app now and encouraging all who use it to do the same. We will find a different app to play spades from now on. ### 1/5 — I CANNOT BELIEVE HOW BAD THE AI PLAYER IS! *2018-11-17, version 2.5.1* First of all, the ai player will bid 1 instead of nil with a 2 card pass, then fail its bid because it should have been nil in the first place. If that’s not bad enough, it purposely does not take tricks to cut out the other team when it easily could. Again failing it’s bid. If it doesn’t fail its bid, it takes all the bags. You can’t win ever if you are stuck with the ai player as your partner. I just can’t believe it’s this bad. WHY DOES A TIE COUNT AS A LOSS❓ALSO, why aren’t players blocked permanently? If I’ve blocked someone, there’s a good reason, and I shouldn’t have to play with them again. ### 1/5 — Unplayable *2018-10-19, version 2.5.1* Both the AI and the “randomization” are so bad that this game is unplayable. The interface is good and there is plenty of traffic, so if the AI were decent it would be solid. Unfortunately, that just isn’t the case. Also, the block feature doesn’t work correctly so you can’t block awful people from playing with you again. Overall, it was a horrible experience and a complete waste of time. ### 1/5 — Lots of glitches *2017-11-30, version 2.5.1* When you are playing with human players, it will disconnect them mid game and then you are playing with bot players that have human names. You know you are playing with bots because the player's badge disappears, they stop chatting with you, and they start to make super stupid moves like bidding one or throwing off when they haven't made their bid yet. I've contacted the developers a couple of times and they didn't acknowledge my feedback so maybe app store feedback will make an impression. I don't know why they don't want to fix this. This is a real issue. ### 2/5 — Non random deals *2023-09-07* I like the format and graphics and I like being able to set your own rules, which is why I gave it 2 stars instead of 1. The problem is, the deals are non random. If you set someone they immediately get a huge hand. They also deal bad hands to top ranked players. Secondly, if you are a top ranked player they block you from playing with your regular partners. ### 3/5 — Frustrating *2020-09-24, version 2.5.1* When there are actually four live players (no automated fill-ins), the game is often extremely slow, and then when it catches up, you have lost your turn because of the delay and the computer plays for you. It’s infuriating. Can’t count the number of games where all the players are expressing the Sleepy ZZ emoji because this delay is happening to all players. No fun when this happens, and it happens often. ### 3/5 — Frustrating *2020-06-21, version 2.5.1* The game is good when it works. The app now just gives me an error message saying it is unable to connect and to double check my connection (it is strong). There is no other option or troubleshooting suggestions ### 3/5 — Good game that could be great *2019-02-02, version 2.5.1* The UI of this game is hands down the best and cleanest designed i've seen, however, as others have commented, the bots are absolutely atrocious. It's almost like the computer player was designed es to troll the human players. Bids of 1 when it can go nil, not cutting the opponent to set them back, etc... If the devs could improve the computer play, this would easily be a five star game.
