Just show me the exercises. Also somehow I got billed when I wanted a 7 day trial? ### 2/5 — Nice try *2026-08-13, version 1.2.11* This app, presented as a game, fails in several respects. It doesn’t really TEACH anything. It’s just a series of repetitions of the same material over and over, with no attempt to help the user actually get better. Pitch recognition is a complex activity, very subjective to each person’s experience and imagination. The app does not address pitch recognition complexities, it just keeps throwing random pitches at the user, who is forced to merely guess and discover that they were wrong. The app doesn’t even seem to recognize which pitches are consistently missed, so there is no automatic repetition of problem areas that I could discern. And, once you get going, there are NO DISCUSSIONS, NO EVALUATIONS, NADA. It feels like I am blindfolded, throwing darts to hit a target, and all I ever hear is MISSED AGAIN! Finally, the electronic keyboard they used to play chords and scales was either really cheap (I.e. terrible) or in need of repair. There are notes in the lowest octave which sound like a hammer hitting a bell. The resulting overtones interfere with the accurate presentation of intervals and chords in particular. I should have waited before falling for the yearly subscription..I am stuck paying for an entire year, while still needing to find a good pitch training app. My advice: LOOK ELSEWHERE. ### 2/5 — Like Duo but functions poorly *2026-08-10, version 1.2.11* Sound does not always work and app has to be restarted to fix. Playing sound to repeat it doesn’t work well as it pauses the sound. Playing the song should start over at the top of the sound file each time. It doesn’t teach you.. it just tests you. Frustrating experience! ### 2/5 — No free version, but many ?s *2026-08-07, version 1.2.11* I don’t mind a paid app, but this is one of those apps that asks you a lot of questions, gets you excited and then you can’t do anything at all without a trial or paying. I was getting really excited to start and then it was a bit of a crash when I realized it was another “personalization” before a mandatory trial. I know apps need to make money, and this probably works to make people feel invested before you ask, but I feel like that approach wastes my time if I’m not in the position to pick up another subscription. For example, F major has a Bb, not an A#. Finally asks if I want to start a free trial. I say yes and it charged me $19.99. If i could tell you the note by hearing it i wouldnt need the app. I got through the first exercise because there are only three notes but in order to do the second exercise you have to be able to differentiate notes in two octaves. Ive been playing piano for two years and i cant do octaves. The app is very aggressive about trying to get you to sign up to even see any of it. It also looks suspicious that the app asks for you to rate it before you even use anything in the app then most of the written reviews I see here are 1-2 stars complaining about how the app doesn’t actually make good on what it says it’s supposed to do. ### 1/5 — Need improvement *2026-08-18, version 1.2.11* I couldn't hear anything. Before the apps wouldn’t lock all the way and there would always be some work around. I have a suggestion, a rhythm practice. One thing many aspiring musicians struggle with is understanding and attempting to write out rhythms. I love this app and have suggested it to several friends. I know they’d be more inclined to use it with a feature like that. I know the app was originally intended for ear training with tone and pitch. I feel to practice rhythm is also a form of ear training. Just a suggestion. Right now, we’re working on adding chord progression recognition 💪 and rhythm training is definitely on our radar after that. The chord spellings and scales get a little funky sometimes but it’s alright, it’s kind of charming/engaging. Plus a lot of real world enharmonics pull the funny spellings anyways. Coming back to ear training after undergrad and graduate music degrees. This app is working out great for me. The audio gets weird when I have my AirPods in or if I swipe out to a different app during a lesson (my RoK gathering must continue ungapped) Will update my review when I hit that top rank. I’m a silver 💀 Edit: I’ve reached expert! Cool app. Works better with AirPods now than when I first got it (hardly worked with AirPods at all). My ears have improved quite a bit, and my instrument practice is more enriching/fun/easier as a result. I’ve got my hopes in this dev. Ear training isn’t life or death to me, so why not support an underdog? The gamification is fun, I like working through the four stages each day. Please keep up the good work!
