Changing colors is a nightmare. ### 2/5 — It needs a lot of work *2024-12-12, version 1.2.1* While this app allows you to do the very basics for operating your lights, it is not user-friendly, and has many areas that need improvement. It’s very unfortunate to see that they have not done any kind of upgrades over quite a while. Not very user friendly at all. It would be nice to have a color wheel to select exactly the color we want, and for when we don’t want a preset to be able to pick from a color wheel to choose instead of the horrible preset number thing now. Works fine on my wife’s iPhone 7 but will not work on my 14. ### 3/5 — Needs to be updated *2022-12-01, version 1.2.1* This app needs to be updated with the same control feature as the newer controller. The slowest control needs to have the lights barely moving. We should be able to assigned multiple patterns for one scheduled day but can’t. To get my zones to pop up on the app, I have to hit refresh multiple times which is very annoying. The lights itself is awesome, however, the app needs major help to blow out its competitors. It’s hard for me to recommended Trimlights because of the problems mentioned above. ### 3/5 — Works good but needs more options *2022-09-20, version 1.2.1* Wish I was able to set more schedules so I can have it full bright at some times and dimmer after a certain time. Some of the motion options just turn the lights off. The motion options almost all seem like the same thing just directions change. Jellyfish seems to have more motion options. It isn’t the most simple app to get into the lights or learn how to adjust calendars, colors, save new patterns etc. Definitely concerning how much we spend for this not to have had an update in a year. ### 2/5 — Could use a number of improvements and updating *2021-11-11, version 1.2.1* Occasionally drops the Wi-Fi connection and requires relinking. Even when linked it can take refreshing the app several times to find the controller. It would also be nice to be able to to check and control the lights when away from home. I have two controllers and it would be fantastic if there was a way to sync them when I wanted. Please increase the number of schedule events to 60. It would be nice to be able to leave repeat holidays from year to year rather than needing to delete them to have Christmas lights on for the month ### 2/5 — Glitches in creating profiles *2021-11-11, version 1.2.1* The app is okay, it could use more preloaded light profiles. Needs a few presets or something. 99% of users just want a couple basic Christmas patterns. It automatically defaults to rainbow colored and is seemingly harder to control after that. The lights are nice but controlling them needs to be much more simple. I have a lot more to say but am too busy trying to just have a regular light combination on my house. Looking back, a little more explanation on how to use the app would have helped greatly. ### 3/5 — Need option to save device with IP address *2021-09-23, version 1.2.1* This should be an easy feature to implement. Give the option to add an IP address. My network has multiple subnets and it does not “see” the controller because my phone is connected to 192.168.1.x network while the controller is in 192.168.4.x network. I can ping the controller from my phone’s network utilities app just fine. So there is no connection issue between the phone and the controller. It’s just the app and the controller that is the issue. ### 1/5 — Bad Programming! *2021-09-14, version 1.2.1* I’m writing this review for my parents. They spent 7k to get the trim lights installed. The lights themselves look great and I have no issues with the installation or how they look when working. However, this app, and the software are complete garbage. I spent hours trying to reconnect the app and system to their local WiFi and I basically could not do it. It would connect and then next thing you know it’s gone. When paying this much for a product you should have nearly zero issues. This needs to be resolved! ### 3/5 — System Glitches *2021-08-03, version 1.2.1* When the system loses power, it no longer wants to connect up properly. Had to do a hard reset on system and then delete and reinstall the app to get the system to reconnect. Company YouTube videos don’t say anything about having to delete and reinstall the app. App seems to be glitchy at times. ### 2/5 — Get goin on that app update *2021-07-23, version 1.2.1* Supposedly there’s an update coming that will allow users to control each individual bulb. I truly hope this is available soon as we just spent several thousand dollars on lights that can’t do what we primarily purchased them for. It’s a bummer too that the new control panel (also supposedly coming out soon) which allows for control remotely away from home, will not be a free upgrade with the current box which requires being at home and in range of our WiFi. Agree with a lot of other reviewers. Limited on what is available in the app. If you want all the lights on, and not a few on with dark space in between, then these work fine. We got lights with the intention using accent lighting through most of the year. Since we can only control black space between the bulbs in a specific sequence, the accent is off balance across our home and doesn’t match. We will have a couple of lights on at the very top of our peak on one side, then running down the left or right of a separate peak on another side. Oh yeah, another review reminded me of this also, a dawn/dusk setting would be amazing!!!!!!!! That way I don’t have to continually set my schedule throughout the year as the days become longer/shorter. ### 3/5 — Awesome lights limited by so-so app *2021-05-05, version 1.2.1* TrimLights look AAAH-MAZING in person! The true potential of these lights are being held back by a mediocre app - which is the only way to control them. 8 of the 12 light pattern/animation options that a user can create are chases - and they look the same! The only difference seems to be the direction (forward or back). Would love the ability to sequence multiple patterns/animations together as well as the ability to sync the lights to music — think how amazing Christmas and Halloween displays could be!
