Great effort by a fine group of people with outstanding results! ### 5/5 — Well done! *2021-06-01* I’ve found this app very helpful and well done overall. The piano recordings are clear. The app layout is simple but attractive, resembling the hardback Psalter Hymnal. As a pastor, this app is most helpful with selecting music for the service each week. The search function works well and includes tunes and other details. The app is just as useful for individual and family devotions. The translations are fresh and literal, while still poetic and singable. I have been using this for private and family devotions the last year or so, and our church got the license to sing the psalms in public worship. It has been an incredible blessing. I finally bought the app too and I’m so pleased with it. It’s way to find songs, easy to toggle between text-only to the sheet music. Plus as a bonus, the app will play a midi version of the accompaniment. What a help for someone like me who can’t always follow the music without some help! I’ve never encountered a hymn source like this, online or in an app, where there is such a high level of pianistic skill, nuance, shaping and singable tempi. The layout is excellent and it is well organized. The informative written introductions are also included. ### 4/5 — Almost perfect! *2021-04-27* We are a non-musical family so this app is just what we needed! It’s so wonderfully convenient to not have to find another source for the music, all the tunes are just a click away. The feature to repeat the music for as many verses as needed to sing the whole psalm or hymn is very helpful. The only drawback is that there about 3 seconds of silence as you start and end each tune which makes for an awkward 6 second pause between verses. If that could be fixed in a future update this app would be perfect! **Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback! We have updated the tunes to not have as much of a pause. the 1.0.2 update should take care of this, and in some cases it might require a user to delete and reinstall the app (which does not trigger a new purchase). ### 5/5 — It even plays music ! *2021-04-27* This app seemed, and has proven, all too necessary to have. One can search for a hymn or psalm reading via title or keyword, though it does not accommodate misspellings, and on each hymn’s page itself, adjust the font size, see and use the notes / sheet music, and also play the hymn’s accompanying melody / parts arrangement. What a wonderful, useful (especially now that so many churches are not using physical hymnals because of coronavirus ???) and joy-giving tool. ### 5/5 — Wonderful *2021-04-26* I’ve been waiting for something like this for ages! Excellent help for family worship and it’s well done. Sheet music, lyrics, are all available with an easy search by psalm/song number or by title. Upon updating my iPad to v26, I can no longer get the hymns fullscreen. It always keep the hymns list on the left side. I’d love it if that could be fixed! ### 3/5 — Subpar for a sheet music app (Pianist Perspective) *2025-09-15* There’s no option to keep the screen on all the time unless you change the settings for your entire device. It doesn’t work with my Donner page turn pedal either! Two small but very significant problems for me that make it easier to just scan straight from the hymnal to PDF. I hope this will soon be fixed. Same issue also present with creeds etc. Our family collectively uses this app nightly in our family worship and it is wonderful but less so just lately. ### 4/5 — I second Manfredac *2024-08-30* I would also like the option of isolating the musical parts. With the similarity for the way the app operates, I suspect the that this and Book Of Psalms For Worship come from the same app development shop. This feature exits in the Book Of Psalms For Worship and can probably be added without much problem. ### 4/5 — So Useful *2024-05-09* This has been an amazing app for my fiancé to use every week in church as he has a visual impairment and can not read the fine print of the printed hymnals. My only suggestion is to have the option of even larger text than what is offered as he is on the largest setting and will eventually need bigger text to read! An iPad or tablet would help with this too. I could see how individual parts (or at least just the melody) might be helpful for some people. Another recommendation would be to create a “playlist” of sorts, so that he can add his list of songs for that Sunday in worship order and then be able just go from one song to the next without having to scroll or search for each one individually. ### 4/5 — Great, missing one key feature. *2024-01-12, version 1.1.0* I love the Psalter/Hymnal and use the app daily. In my opinion there is just one key flaw, the ability to change the speed of the tune. Some of the tunes feel very slow, we find ourselves as a family waiting long in between words that you can’t really sing the song because it feels so drawn out. By comparison, the app for the “Book of Psalms for Worship”, that seems to be the code base for this app has a simple feature to adjust the speed of the tune. Our Church plant uses it for worship on Sunday morning as we don’t have a pianist. It’s served as a great aid for us. As a musician this saves me a lot of time from opening tabs on the internet and searching through YouTube for referencing tunes. The fact that you can play the audio for every song to practice singing or verify a tune is worth it’s weight in gold. Thanks to everyone who created this app. The viewing options are also a great feature.
