## What is Trio?

Trio is the friendliest way to actually meet people, in small groups, doing real things.

No endless one-on-one messaging. No swiping on faces. You join a hangout that sounds fun, and Trio groups you with a few other people who joined the same one. Then it's a group chat to lock in the plan, and a real place to show up.

HOW IT WORKS
1. Make a quick profile: a photo, a few interests, your city.
2. Browse hangouts near you and tap to join the ones you like.
3. Get grouped with 2 to 4 others who joined the same hangout.
4. Plan it together in the group chat, then meet up in person.

WHY GROUPS OF THREE OR MORE
Trio is never one-on-one, by design. A small group takes the pressure off, makes it easy to show up, and keeps things about friendship, not dating. Nobody's on the spot. You just get to be yourself around new people.

BUILT TO FEEL SAFE
Anyone who creates a hangout is ID-verified before they can post. You can block or report anyone, and a block means you'll never be matched with them again. Your exact location is never shown, only your general area, and only if you choose to share it.

KEEP THE GOOD ONES
After you meet, if the group clicked, you can keep it, and your one-off hangout becomes a standing circle of friends you can plan with again.

Trio is open across the United States and Canada. Come find your people.

## Version history (last 4 releases)

### 1.0.4 — 2026-09-21

Trio unlocks faster with Face ID now, no more waiting on the lock screen. Plus a small fix so quiet-area text in Discover no longer gets cut short on smaller screens.

### 1.0.3 — 2026-09-14

Group chat feels like a real messenger now: messages from one person read as one run, the day shows when it changes, and a new message never yanks you down. React with one of six emoji, copy a line, or take back one of yours. See who has read your message and when someone is typing. A new group opens with the other people's prompts and three questions to start with. Creators get a home for their hangouts: see every one you started, share it, edit the details, or close it when plans change. Groups now say what's new. Vote on the plan, check in, or catch up on new messages, right from the list. Mute a group when you need quiet. See who's in a hangout before you join, and tap anyone in your group to see their profile. Profiles show more of you: up to four photos, two prompts, and what you're looking to do. Skip a hangout in Discover and it stays skipped. Find your area by typing any city in the USA or Canada. Plus fixes: starting a hangout right after you sign in works again, opening Trio without a connection no longer looks like you were signed out, a heads-up before we ask about notifications, Past Trios opens the right group, searching for a place is faster, and crash reporting so we can fix problems faster.

### 1.0.1 — 2026-09-12

Share a plan or a recap and it now carries a link to get Trio. Sign-in polish: the email code is 8 digits and the screen now says so, and a typo in your address gets a nudge.

### 1.0 — 2026-09-11
