We changed nothing. Always had an initial and not a full name. ### 4/5 — Great but limitations are frustrating *2026-06-08, version 5.7.6* I do love this bank for so many reasons - particularly how ethical it is. However, I’m often frustrated by: it not appearing in drop down options for making payments with various companies; it not automatically interfacing with accounting software such as FreeAgent (meaning I have to download, edit & upload CSV files to do my accounting); etc. ### 5/5 — New account *2026-04-13, version 5.3.0* Opening account with better interest very easy with the Triodos app ### 4/5 — highly recommend! *2026-04-13, version 5.3.0* i recently switched my current account to triodos based on their ethical credentials as i realised that there was literally no good reason to bank with my previous bank, who invests in what can most simply be described as evil things. i feel much better about this little element of my life now! the app itself has been upgraded since their most recent rebrand and it's super slick and user friendly. my only builds would be that i'd love instant transfers, as it takes up to two hours for money to enter/leave the account which can be kind of tricky when i want to move money quickly, and i'd love if there were more spending/savings analytics like some of the digital banks out there. all in all would highly recommend! ### 5/5 — Love it *2026-04-01, version 5.2.5* I can not recommend this enough. No frills, which is good. It could improve by adding features like trends, how much has been spent and how much is left after each transaction, a money manager feature that shows the spending breakdown. Other than the technical side of things, I’m very happy that my savings contribute to ethical causes. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Not great *2026-05-04, version 5.4.0* Last Saturday the IT system at TRIODOS went down and two payments were declined and I could not use my card for a few hours. 30 mins waiting on the helpline and NO response from the fraud email at all! . No update from TRIODOS at any time despite the super new app? Pretty bad in my view ### 1/5 — Close my account down *2026-02-27, version 5.0.2* Close my account down and then send me a letter that you have don’t that . ### 1/5 — The bank that isn’t a bank *2026-02-15, version 4.60.1* Don’t try paying for anything unusual or expensive with your card as Triodos will ask you to confirm the payment in the app then proceed to block the payment and block you from using your card. Also don’t try paying your credit card with it because the company will say sorry unable to process as it’s not a UK issue card. Pointless having an account with this company. ### 1/5 — Payment is very slow *2025-05-01, version 4.40.2* It takes over a day for payments to go through leading to unnecessary payment delays. If a direct debit does not go through first time, no automatic reattempt is made by the bank. The app shows that messages are coming in but these cannot be read in-app and can only be read by login separately into online banking. Overall less efficient and convinient than apps from other banks we have used. ### 1/5 — Errors when following signup process *2024-07-20, version 4.22.0* No error codes given, simply a sorry error message repeatedly during verification. Had to use other bank. Payments take so long! ### 1/5 — Not Available for business banking *2023-07-21, version 3.62.2* For some inexplicable reason, the app is “not available for business banking”. Unfortunately the customer only gets told this after installing the app and setting up the account on the app by entering serial number on digipass, logging in and transferring a series of codes between app and digipass, to eventually be told ‘not for business customers’ A) Why is this?? B) Why not make it clear on the App Store listing? C) Why not make an app available for business users. I expect a bit better from Triodos. ### 1/5 — Clunky (and now also in denial) *2023-06-22, version 3.60.1* Original review below which Triodos tried to dodge with a vague reply. The issue is known to them. You cannot use their debit card on Apple wallet, it’s not compatible. f this doesn’t bother you and you’re happy to trade having a slick app and web bank for the satisfaction that they only invest ethically, then fine. But if you’re used to having a top banking service you’ll find their simple app frustrating. After a few months of not being able to load my card onto my phone and getting repeated messages I was unable to read I was ready to move to a bigger, slicker big bank. This works like the internet circa 1995. Why can’t I use my Triodos card on my phone? Some direct debits don’t work. No one calls to explain why. Great that it’s an eco bank but lots of downsides as it’s so basic. ### 1/5 — Useless *2023-05-25, version 3.58.1* Pointless app cannot log on cannot get past email name dob keeps crashing. Unable to close account down because of this. To log on in the recent past ( few months) I had to input name dob email photo of my driving license take photo of me then be given a number to sign in . THAT NUMBER I WAS GIVEN WAS SUPPOSED TO BE REMEMBERED…!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THIS WAS NOT STATED WHEN SENT TO ME SO WHEN I TRIED TO LOG ON AGAIN I WAS ASKED TO TYPE IN THE NUMBER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! . So then had to go through the whole process again . CLOSE MY ACCOUNT DOWN. A they tell you how this bank’s resources are used for good causes! ### 5/5 — Swapping tech for ethics *2026-05-14, version 5.0.0* It was definitely a bit of adjustment coming from banking with Monzo for close to a decade, to go back to an app that feels more basic than what I had with NatWest, when I was with them for a couple of decades prior to that. I definitely noticed the more basic features by comparison to Monzo especially. But what really matters is the ethical difference, and what climate damage is caused by other banks loaning out your money. And Triodos have an iPad app, which Monzo never have.
