It’s great for recording expenses and converting currencies. I file each trip expenses upon return by printing out the report. I use it for monthly and car expenses too. Keeps track of my mpg. The only flaw is you have to use it while offline as it gets stuck on “Please wait. Updating currencies”. This is mildly annoying but I put up with it as I love the expense tracking. If you have just installed and are having trouble, close up your Wi-Fi connection temporarily and you should be good to go. ### 3/5 — Freezing on Update currency screen *2019-07-30, version 4.5.0* I’ve been using this app for years and it is essential for helping me stay within a budget when traveling. However for the last few days it has been stuck on the currency update screen and is now unusable. Please release an update fixing this problem. **Developer response:** Sorry for the delay in fixing this bug. It's now fixed. I hope the app continues to serve you well. Thank you for your patience. ### 2/5 — What the ... *2018-10-08, version 4.5.0* I've had this app for at least a couple years. Don't recall if I paid for it. Overall it does most of what it purports to do. A bit more complicated tonuse than it needs to be, especially if one wants to streamline the options. Biggest complaint is that the data refuses to download. It puts on a good show, but never ends up in the inbox. Maybe I should just set up my own spreadsheet and call it good. Buyer beware. ### 4/5 — Excellent App *2013-10-27, version 4.4.2* I started using this app to track my expenses when my job took me out of the country. It handles all of the currency conversion flawlessly. I have highly recommend it to all of my colleagues. The one and only reason I am not giving this excellent app five stars is that when I create the expense report in an HTML format it does not include my receipt pics. So this means that I need to go expense by expense to email the receipt. This tends to be a tad laborious on weeks that have a ton of expense items. To budget for a family trip was near impossible with spending lots of time reporting in my software. This app makes it easy for me to see and to track expenses so I don't miss any! I want a simple app that doesn't give away my personal info to a server who knows where it's or for someone to scan my receipts and look at them. This program does it. It offers multiple day trips, it's bug free so far for me, which none of the other ones I tried were. The one thing that would make this perfect for me is a single PDF output where the expenses and receipts are output in a single document I can archive and email... Csv is fine but please for a paid app, I would expect a better report. But hey this is pretty good! ### 3/5 — Not very happy *2012-07-27, version 4.3.0* OK but much too complex for the leisure traveler and I am not finding it intuitive, despite having drafted business budgets. Inadequate explanation on how to use and as-you- go help or prompts. If you are a traveler on a daily budgeted amount, No way to enter that. The reports are even less easy and helpful to see how you are doing daily. ### 3/5 — Ok *2012-05-18, version 4.3.0* Does what it says it will, but for my purposes it is more complex than it has to be. More info for each trip has to be entered than in other similar apps. Also where is the GPS function to auto enter mileage? However, although it promises a great deal of flexibility, I found it extremely counterintuitive and difficult to input simple pieces of information. For instance, you have to create a new place every time you want to include the name of the place where you spent money. This requires going through at least 3 screens to make a simple expense input. And you can't set the currency for an entire trip, unless you change the default settings on the whole app. Even simple apps like Trail Wallet (which is a far better app in my opinion) allow you to have a home currency and then set a default for specific trips (instead of having to input it each time you input an expense). ### 1/5 — unusable *2011-07-28, version 4.2.2* app has no delete capability for itinerary entries!!!! unbelievably amateurish. ### 1/5 — Mileage log incomplete. *2010-12-07, version 0* Mileage log not usable for IRS purposes. Enter a little, enter a lot. It's got all my requirements, too: photo receipts is a must have for me. I love the red/yellow/green lights for expense report status. I've already customized my expense reports--just have to email the itemized report to my admin. Super easy. It handles conversions well for US measurements to metrics and dollars and pesos. A great productivity tool. ### 5/5 — Love it! *2013-06-20, version 4.4.0* App is easy to use, has tons of features to suit most people's needs. Of course you can't please everyone. There will always be someone who is not satisfied. I find this app to be very customizable, and feature rich. You can basically track anything you want for a trip or a vacation. What I like about it is that you can put as much information or as little as you want for your specific type of tracking. Also there is the ability to download additional modules that integrate seamlessly into the app which you may find useful. Only shortcomings are no ability to back up or export data. Also no sync capabilities between devices so you will have to choose which device you want to use it on. Hopefully these will be features added in the future, but for right now doesn't look like that will happen. But with that all said I still feel this is an excellent app. A lot of work went into creating it. That becomes apparent as you start to use it. Very happy I downloaded it. I was a little worried about paying for an app then it not meeting my needs but I'm not disappointed. In fact, this is the only app I use to track my travel expenses and have recently added the journal and itineraries app to go with it. It does not crash, is simple to use and is customizable. It is nice to be able to finally have all my travel costs in one easy convenient location. Trip Boss allows me to set up a trip budget beforehand, and easily track/modify everything, so all I have to worry about is how many times I have to go on Mr. Toad's Wild Ride with my seven year old. Great app, from a great developer! Update: The optional Itineraries package is a terrific add-on to an already great product. What a great way to let buyers pick and choose what they want in their trip planning app, without having to pay a hefty price for stuff they may not need.
