### 3/5 — Object Capture API please

*2022-01-09, version 3.35*

When I first got this app over a year ago it was fine compared to the competition and $5 for unlimited scans you can’t complain too much. Not that Apple Object Capture has come out it has rendered whatever algorithm Trnio uses completely useless. I have run the same photo set through Trnio, PhotoCatch on my Mac Mini M1, and an app I won’t name that uses Object Capture API. If Trnio even produces a result it’s not even close to being as good as Object Capture. Object capture will also use a turntable without any special background. Trnio is like most other photogrammetry programs and won’t do a turntable unless you give a solid black background with ring lights in a dark room. If Trnio could switch to the Object Capture API the app would be perfect

**Developer response:** Thanks for the feedback. Trnio currently does not support your specific turntable use case. We will be updating the app algorithms shortly to support LiDar-photo fusion capture (not available in object capture) and turntable mode. Thanks!

### 3/5 — A piano

*2021-08-11, version 3.31*

If I could control when the app takes a picture, I could create a better model. It seems to take only when the camera is moving.

### 3/5 — Decent but great

*2021-06-26, version 3.31*

It does it’s job when it comes to photogrammetry. Even though I provide plenty of photos (30) it came out not as good as I hoped it would there’s promise that with trnio 2 or an update it could be better. I have plenty of reference pictures with more than enough points for it get an idea and recognize what I’m trying to a 3d model out of. I sincerely hope they improve it because as I said there’s promise. Also the capability of more than 80 pics because I have so many pictures

### 4/5 — It’s great for 3d printing

*2021-06-24, version 3.31*

I would have given it five stars but it took about 8 scans to get a good looking one it’s probably my technique but some scans don’t give clean results just keep trying and you’ll eventually get a good one

### 4/5 — Good

*2021-05-06, version 3.31*

This app is very useful, but it is still laggy and doesn’t always work. Im still learning how to use it correctly but I like it.

### 3/5 — My favorite phone scanner but

*2021-02-02, version 3.30*

By far the best phone scanner with the best results, but lately there seems to be an issue where it will stop scanning near the start of a scan. I think it has something to do with it trying to connect to the internet. It is very frustrating as sometimes I can not get a scan to start no matter what I do. I will restart my phone, log in and log out, reinstall the app. Only once I get near a stable internet connect do things start to work better. I hope they fix this soon or at least have a solution for me.

**Developer response:** Thanks for the review. This is actually the first we've heard of this issue. We'll take a look to see what potentially could be causing this.

If you could, could you email us at feedback@trnio.com? We'd like to understand which device you're using. Thanks!

### 3/5 — Works better than most, but far from great

*2021-01-03, version 3.30*

The photogrammetry in this is amazing. Probably the best iOS app there is in this regard, but there are two big issues I found.

1. There is no landscape mode for iPad Pros
2. It takes photos as you’re walking around the objects and this leads to blurry photos sometimes, resulting in a bad scan. It should either inform you to pause, and and then count down to take a photo, or you should be able to manually take it while scanning.

You can walk around the object and take photos then manually upload it, but a live scan would be nice to do.

I wonder if this utilizes the lidar at all.

### 4/5 — Great app, only one thing missing.

*2020-10-30, version 3.28*

It seems to work very well. It just needs an option to rotate an object with a stationary camera, then it would be the best 3D modeling app on the market.

### 5/5 — Incredibly Easy with Amazing Results!

*2020-09-07, version 3.27*

Had no idea you could get such great results from such a simple app. Thanks a ton for making this app devs!

### 4/5 — Wish There Were More Options

*2020-08-10, version 3.26*

Spent a day using this app and it works pretty nicely! I wish I could control how the length of the capture process. Not an absurd amount of length but just enough to fully capture a person with out missing arms or hands. The price for the full app is $6usd and seems completely fair for an app that could be this useful.

**Developer response:** Thanks for the great feedback!

Update: we did increase the number of images for import and object mode to 80 from 70. Hope this helps.

### 5/5 — Unable to purchase

*2020-08-02, version 3.26*

From the 3 trial scans it seemed to scan great! No complaints on that end.

However, I would like to purchase the full version of the app and I’m unsure as to how to go about that..

### 4/5 — Pretty good app

*2020-07-24, version 3.26*

The past few days I’ve been trying to get a scan to participate in the glass animals music video. The process of scanning was pretty rough but the developer(s) of the app are super helpful when it comes to tips and stuff like that. I do believe the app needs some work to be done but overall, it’s pretty good.

**Developer response:** Email us at feedback@trnio.com and we can get you more scans to test. In general, we've been seeing too few images causing errors in the scans.

Thanks!

### 5/5 — This is fantastic app.

*2020-06-21, version 3.25*

- facilities being able to see the world in a new way. Thank you so much for developing it.

### 5/5 — Best on the App Store so far

*2020-06-08, version 3.25*

I like this since it doesn’t rely on the true depth front facing cam that has really limited range. I have yet to try it on my 10.5” 2017ish iPad Pro but on my iPhone 11 it works well.

### 3/5 — Problem with iPhone 6S and ARKit scan

*2020-05-28, version 3.25*

The app produces good results and is easy to use. The problem is that the ARKit scan setting has a bug that shuts down the app before the scan can load. This doesn’t happen on newer iPhones, as I’ve used it successfully on an iPhone 10. The object photo setting does work.

### 3/5 — Does not process on device

*2020-05-07, version 3.24*

The app only takes continual point images and then sends those images off to be processed and rendered in the cloud. My first scan took several hours. It’s not bad, but not what I was hoping for.

### 1/5 — Scans won’t export

*2022-11-16, version 3.40*

I paid for this app thinking I paid to scan and export items.

Trnio is not a listed subscription on my apple account and I was not prompted in-app to make any additional purchases for added benefits such as exports.

Basically I don’t know if it’s a file prep isssue on my end or if I payed just to scan objects and look at them on my phone 🤷🏽‍♀️ When I go to export the file it takes a long time to load ( load bar in file export window) on my student issued computer and then never loads. I get a message saying the file cannot be used. I’ve tried all export file options in order to pull up in rhino with no avail.

**Developer response:** Thanks for chatting the other day, and for updating us on your solution. As discussed, Trnio exports all OBJ's as ZIP files. When exporting, you'll also notice that the file type states .zip. To import an OBJ into Rhino, the zip file must first be unzipped into a folder. After that, Rhino should be able to import our OBJ files.

To the readers, the issue was with file preparation, and not an issue with the Trnio app. If you have questions about importing into other programs, feel free to email feedback@trnio.com or message us on social. Thanks.

### 1/5 — Does not work

*2021-12-22, version 3.34*

Tried multiple time with multiple things and no scan was usable, but every scan was hilarious because of how deformed it came out as. Was contacted by app developers and told to use the video I already used and didn’t get any better results. Other apps are superior to this one so I will use those instead of this expensive garbage.

### 1/5 — Money back?

*2021-01-19, version 3.30*

How do I get my money back? Every single scan I try gives me a red X with “error processing your scan”. Objects, people, poor lighting, perfect lighting, all the same result. I’m having good luck with some of your free competitors, and they instantly render. Yours takes a long time just to give me an error. So how do I get my money back?

### 1/5 — Please read!!

*2020-07-20, version 3.26*

At first when I got this it worked for 1 picture but then all of my other pictures came out flat. I really think that this is a problem so please fix this. I also see some green on my pictures when I didn’t even scan anything that was green.

### 1/5 — Always crashes

*2020-03-19, version 3.22*

I’ve tried scanning multiple things and every time the app is about to finish the scan, it crashes.

There is no support link on their site either so I had to dig up a marketing email link in the gutter of their page.

Also, another ding against the app, they require you to sign up for an account when you sign in. This is a paid app and I’d rather not have to give my email to yet another company.

### 1/5 — Scam

*2019-12-23, version 3.20*

Doesn’t actually stitch your images together, they stay in the queue perpetually. I want my money back. Garbage.

[Edit] Developer responded to me saying queue times have been 1-4 minutes. That was obviously not the case because I waited 20+ minutes for mine to be out of the queue and it still wasn’t by the time I deleted the app.

### 1/5 — Pretty Useless

*2019-05-22, version 3.09*

Since it only costs $2.99 and uses your phone, no one should expect any miracles, but you get what you pay for...As it is right now, this app is almost entirely useless unfortunately. I am a professional 3d modeler, and I doubt anyone will be able to get anything useful from this app if I couldn’t.

### 1/5 — Broken. Requires login that never loads.

*2019-03-06, version 3.07*

I downloaded and opened the app, it needed me to sign in or create a login. I tried, but the app would cycle the “Sign Up” button animation after clicking it and then never do anything. Login was the same deal (I entered bogus credentials to see what would happen).

Tried last night and this morning. Using iOS 12.1.4 on an iPhone 6S.

Unless this issue is addressed before I get a receipt from the apple store, I will request a refund.

### 1/5 — App broken

*2018-11-14, version 3.00*

I tried several times across a span of about a week to get it to work but it never even accepted the picture. I took pictures beforehand and uploaded them and I used the app to take the pictures but the result was the same. It refused to start making the model saying every time there was an error. Sad cause it looked like it would be a very nice app to use

### 2/5 — Used to work

*2019-05-25, version 3.10*

I can no longer log in, and the password helper doesn't recognize any of my email addresses. Also, there is no way to log in or reset a password on their website :(

This saddens me because i really enjoyed this little app, but now all my 3d dinners and bbq pics might live in heaven now.

### 5/5 — Size of object issue?

*2021-11-23, version 3.34*

I subscribed this app. This app is the great 3D scan through mobile phone. But I tried 3D print the my scanned model that is not work. I exported stl file and obj file these model size are way way small compare with actual model. How can I print original size? Thanks for replying back. But that was not enough for my curiosity. I understand that resize the object by mesh mixer or similar tools. But point is copying exact original size without using tools. Thanks again.

**Developer response:** You’ll have to scale the model In Meshmixer or something similar. Here’s an article on how to print a Trnio model. Hope it helps.

### 5/5 — Great

*2021-10-03, version 3.34*

The scans are really good and works most of the time But sometimes when scanning surfaces or rooms the auto masking cuts out alot of the scan. Would be cool if there was an option for that, maybe manual cutting would be cool. Also hoping sometime in the future this would allow more than 80 photos. Best phone scanner tho, and could have better results than those professional scanners sometimes.

### 5/5 — What an absolute joy

*2021-04-22, version 3.30*

This app is absolutely incredible. I am astonished at the fidelity and speed. The workflow is fast, clean, and really enjoyable. I think this is a hidden gem. I am the head of my colleges 3D lab and i will be implementing this with all of our students. Would love to work with this company.

### 5/5 — My favorite scan app

*2021-04-08, version 3.30*

Until I try an app that uses the IR face recognition camera on the iPhone X and later iPhones, this is my favorite 3d scanner app. Qlone is friendlier to use with a turntable, but I have had better success with this. I put small objects up on a chest height platform (usually two small chairs, one inverted on top of the other, and a lid from a Rubbermaid bin), in a room where I can use 7-8 foot diameter to walk smoothly around the model. I step-slide slowly in socks on a wood floor.

### 5/5 — Great quality out of the gate

*2021-03-11, version 3.30*

With little prep, I scanned a bit of a tree outside. This scan is perfect for my needs. Very high accuracy, if a bit soft. Minimum detail I captured was about quarter inch.

### 5/5 — The best phone 3D scanner

*2021-01-28, version 3.30*

I love this thing. It’s not perfect, and I usually need to post-process things, but it’s the best 3D scanner I’ve ever used on a phone

### 5/5 — Works as intended

*2020-12-26, version 3.30*

This application is worth the money with the correct lighting and photos, well worth it.

### 5/5 — Work with $10,000+ scanners and this is comparable...

*2020-12-21, version 3.30*

This is just an amazing app. I work with industrial 3D scanners often and this app does almost just as good of a job. The app does require some post processing in MeshMixer but with 10-20min of touch up it is an amazing, usable model.

I would like to point out to those of you that have not used industrial scanners, those scanners still require post processing in software and 10-20min is not a long time for mesh fixing! I saw some reviews commenting about how the scan needs post processing and how that is a downside but the reality is essentially all 3D scans require some touch up.

### 5/5 — Great program with even greater developers

*2020-12-21, version 3.30*

While I have only reached the tip of the iceberg so to say in terms of making full use of this apps potential, having only done a few scans myself. The results from these scans speak for themselves and scans from the community further illustrate the capabilities offered. I’ve had a few small interactions with the developers via their Instagram and their interest in improving the app and taking feedback from users is very apparent. The only complaint which could be lodged against this program is long load times, which I don’t see as even a fair argument against the program seeing as it doesn’t have any kind of monthly subscription to pay for blazing fast servers, just a one time $5 entry price.
TLDR: App works great, Devs are great, worth every penny!

### 5/5 — Best 3D scan app

*2020-12-15, version 3.30*

It’s the best option for 3d scanning, and I’ve tried most of them. My only requests are for an option to rotate the model to the correct up position after it’s created, and an option to select which contained polygon to keep while discarding all else. Is there a technique so that it can know what up is but also allow me to rotate the phone around any angle as I’m scanning? Thanks for a great app.
