The 5 star system works great for that, as do the sections that ask what you like about the product and what you don’t. My only issues are that some updates could occur to make it easier to use your product list as a catalog instead of the app acting like you’re using all these skincare products constantly. Also, I do frequently have to custom add products, even some pretty well known ones, so the catalog needs a major update. Overall though, I can’t complain too much, especially for a free app. ### 3/5 — Adding products can be difficult *2023-12-08* Just started using the app, and I have many positive things to say. I like how you can organise everything & its easy and accessible. However, recently I’ve found that if the product is not listed & I want to add my own- it struggles to save it as part of my products and I have 2. This means I’m not able to have my full morning routine there as I’m missing the addition of 2 products. Apart from that it’s absolutely amazing so far! ### 4/5 — Overall it’s great, butttt *2022-05-08, version 6.0.1* The app overall is great, but it could use some tweaks. I should be able to add multiple things under the same brand instead of adding them one by one. I’ll continue to use it. ### 3/5 — Useful-ish *2022-01-12* The app works very well for the purpose of tracking your skincare routines, creating a routine is quick and easy - the product database actually works really well. I’ve been using it for a few days and probably will continue using it to make sure I’m consistent with certain ingredients. However I hate the social feed - it feels like a totally unnecessary feature and I don’t like how your routines are automatically shared with random users - this should be optional. I also don’t get value out of seeing strangers’ routines on the feed, this definitely isn’t how I would discover new products (only on recommendation of people you know or experts/influencers). The insights tab could be useful but the design is pretty poor - way too many things going on so it makes it very hard to process any information. This would be useful if much simpler. Being able to filter through your stash is cool and although I’m not using the expiry dates feature it’s a good idea! Skin photo comparisons are great. Not sure that the skin analysis is actually doing anything at all… but overall I like the app!! If it was simpler (without trying to become a social app) I would definitely keep using! **Developer response:** Thank you for your kind feedback! :-) ### 4/5 — Social Update Options? *2021-11-10* Good app (the routines part feels a bit clunky, I had to duplicate a lot of things to make it make sense, also some fields in the logs are required which just makes it annoying if I do not want to fill in certain ones) Anyway, now I keep getting notices of people 'liking' my routine. This is nice but I don't care and also feels invasive. I see no option to turn this off? Or to disable the social feed altogether would be better. At least disable the notifications of likes specifically as it's a ridiculous amount of pointless buzzing. I have disabled notifications from the app completely but this means I cannot get reminder notifications etc. I see how some people may like this feature but to me it is only an annoyance. ### 3/5 — Disappointed with lost skin analysis results *2021-07-27* My favourite feature was the skin analysis and I had been using the feature for 2 years! Am disappointed that the skin analysis results are no longer there and have just turned into photos in a diary log. Glad you’ve brought back a beta version but hope we can bring the historic data for comparison as well. ### 4/5 — Wish I could backtrack *2021-06-14* Love this app and every feature of it! I don’t mind that they changed to include a premium version, but the fact I lost all the pictures I took over a year to track my skin changes is very disheartening. It allows you to track your progress and it compares the state of your skin. I found out that I was dehydrated and increased my fluids and added products as a treatment. Today my score went up. Pretty cool!! ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — DO NOT INSTALL (LOST EVERYTHING IN THE APP) *2023-07-06* I was using this app for around 3 months to take pictures of my skin, but then one day all my pictures were gone. I was really upset because those pictures helped me understand my skin. I messaged them and they replied back once then stopped replying after that. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME ### 1/5 — locked behind paywall *2022-06-30, version 6.0.1* gonna repeat what a few other users have said. images of my skin i took a couple years ago suddenly got locked behind a paywall even though they used to be free, so now i’m fuming. i saw the response troveskin made, that there has to be a “business to be run” and left an email for contact (but didn’t say anything about a way to resolve this), but there were ways you could’ve let users know in advance and given us the opportunity to download our photos that we trusted this app with. all in all, a poor move made by the company that’s most likely left many users unhappy. i’ve never given a review on the app store before but i felt this deserved one. ### 1/5 — so disappointed. *2022-05-24, version 6.0.1* I have been using this App since it was just starting up. I tracked my skin for the past almost two years and had been confident that my photo logs would be saved on the app and I would not need to save it to my phone. Excited for an update, I eagerly download it just to my absolute horror that all of my data and pictures were inaccessible unless I paid a 799 monthly subscription??? Absolutely ridiculous that there was no warning, and I couldn’t save ANY of those past pictures and documentation of my skin journey. Now, I have lost years of data because of another money-hungry app looking to feed on loyal users like me who will be DEVASTATED to see they can no longer compare skin or see ANY of their past selfie logs. i emailed customer service and they have yet to respond to me. i use these pictures with my dermatologist to track my progress, and now what? I MUST pay to see data that used to be free, without any warning or notice to SAVE the previous photos? DO NOT DOWNLOAD THIS APP. absolutely no reason why i need to pay money to see MY data that i used to be able to access any time. Now i have no pictures documenting my skincare journey and i am heartbroken. hopefully they fix this for users that have been loyal and allow them to at least retrieve their selfie log & skin analysis pictures :( ### 1/5 — Liked it at first but not anymore *2022-02-17* I used this app to keep a record of all the photos of my acne when I started treatment and after to see the progress etc, but they decided to charge you £5.99 a month to see your photos from before so basically I’ve lost all the data and can’t access it anymore unless I pay. Deleted it straight away! Disappointed. ### 1/5 — App changed for worse *2021-07-07, version 4.2.0* It was a good app, but it isn’t anymore. I used it to do daily selfies to see my skin progress and added information about the mood, sleeping hours and period. After the app update my data was LOST! And what’s even worse, when the history of my selfies was long enough to monitor the progress (4 months), the app blocked access to pictures older than 3 days! I have to pay to see them. That’s unbelievable. Now the app is useless. ### 1/5 — $7.99 a month to see my photos from a month ago? *2021-06-26, version 4.0.9* I’ve had this app for over two years, and in mid-May started using it religiously to track my daily progress while I use a new skincare device. At some point in the last few days, the app was updated and now only premium users can access data more than two days old. The cost would be outrageous even if the app weren’t as consistently buggy and unreliable as it has been for the past couple of years. What a colossal waste of time! I just want my photos back. ### 2/5 — Plenty of potential, but ultimately useless *2024-07-18* This app has a lot of potential and great features, but it’s rendered useless by the inadequate skincare database. You have to add SO many products manually (even super popular ones like glow recipe). Because there’s no way to add ingredients or other important details to manually added products, you lose half of the functionality of the app (unless you’re lucky enough to only use products that are already in their database). If there was a way to important product details from a trusted site like Sephora or Ulta, the app would be nearly perfect. ### 2/5 — :( *2022-05-17* I’ve been using this app for years but now I can only access old photos if I pay ???? If I had known I would have just used my own camera 🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲 ### 2/5 — 3.6 Roentgen *2019-07-30, version 2.2* Not great, not terrible. The only thing I really like about this app is the feature to compare past skin logs. The analyzation feature is completely useless, it completely misses actual dark spots and pores on my face and instead pinpoints the corners of my eyes and mouth as skin issues. Even when taking photos at the same time of day and the same place the AI does not do a good job of pointing out actual skin issues. Thankfully the ability to compare skin logs is there because it grants you the ability to see just how wrong the app is when giving you a rating on your skin and how old it looks. One day my skin could look 100 times better than the previous day and yet the app will still say my skin looks like a 35 year olds and is at 61% yet the previous day looked like a 20 year olds and has 89%. Which is another point, the percentile ranking for people my age does not seem to have an explanation as to whether being in the 6th % or 94% is better, and the percentage rating it seems to give your skin is also quite sketchy as the AI itself does not do it’s job and therefore gives an overall inaccurate reading of the health of one’s skin. ### 2/5 — Analysis is interesting, but otherwise limited app *2019-06-05, version 1.91* The analysis feature is interesting. I have to spend some more time using it but I am intrigued. I think the key is to take your pictures in the same place with the same lighting every day. The rest of the app is limited. There is not database of skincare products, and you can’t customize your routine. The existing routines are a good starting point for beginners, but why not let people add or subtract? This is the best app I have found for tracking my daily skin progress, but I could do the same thing with selfies and a notebook. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — IT WORKS *2024-11-29* I thought this would not work but it actually did. The app recognises all my skincare products and I find the reminders of when your skincare is about to expire really helpful. Overall it’s really user friendly and a great addition to my routine.
