Still haven’t. They still ask for permission to know your location even though there is no reason they need it. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. AND THEY ASK YOU 5 TIMES ONCE YOU SAY NO IN DIFFERENT WAYS. Just so you know, this is a quintessential example of what the Federal Trade Commission calls dark patterns … and it is very much illegal. *. *. *. It is OBNOXIOUS that it takes multiple clicks plus a return from settings to ignore the ask for my location EVERY TIME YOU USE THE APP. I know where I live. You do not need to know this. If I have told you I don’t want to provide that information, STOP ASKING. I have major privacy concerns with this app. ### 3/5 — Not in my location *2022-06-14, version 1.2.6* Just an average review. I downloaded this based on a recommendation from a friend. I live in College Station, TX. Truckster has no service here. The app says there is service in Houston so I tried looking there. No trucks populated. I know there are many food trucks in Houston so there is a problem with the search function for that city. Hopefully they will add service in College Station since it is home to Texas A&M University and fix there Houston search function. ### 2/5 — Missing Permanent PDX Locations *2022-06-13, version 1.2.6* Unfortunately useless for Portland, because it’s missing over a dozen permanent food cart venues, including dozens and dozens of trucks. Some of these carts have been available for years, at the same locations. I can find more food carts and more locations using Apple’s Map app, than I can using Truckster, which is designed specifically for the carts. The application itself is decent. It’s clunky to turn the “detail ribbon“ off and on, but once you get used to it, it’s easy enough to move around the map and spot marked locations. I would be willing to give it a try for another city. But for now, I think they should just remove Portland, Oregon entirely. The developer response to a different review suggested that it had something to do with the cold weather, or “lack of events“, but that seems unlikely — as mentioned above, these carts are easily found in other apps, and Internet searches, and have been located at the same address for years. ### 5/5 — I love food trucks *2021-07-14, version 1.1.7* Easy to use and easy to find the trucks I like. I love this app because it makes it that much easier for me to find and support these small local businesses. ### 2/5 — Confused *2020-06-30, version 0.9.2* So I have tried using this app multiple times however every time I click on the open now filter it does not show where the trucks location are at the time I’m looking. It only shows where they will be the next day. Which is not helpful. If I have the wrong setting or something please tell me. The app has only 1 truck showing in the entire DC. I just happen to drive down the street and see 15 to 20 trucks. But it still has only 10% of the local food trucks listed. Further, clicking on a specific food truck schedule gives me a blank screen (bug). Also, I could not see the times for when the truck was available at that location. Error message without explaining why. ### 1/5 — Ehhh *2021-07-04, version 1.1.5* This app is honestly miserable to use. Takes all day to load and has a pretty crappy inventory of trucks. Half the trucks don't show up. Location is finicky. Deleted this app after like an hour. ### 1/5 — Cheats at Sign in with Apple. How is this allowed on the App Store? *2021-02-27, version 1.0.5* I didn’t really want an app to order at the food truck, but it’s COVID times, I get it, every little bit of limiting contact helps, so I downloaded it. Did not want to set up an account, but luckily this app offers Sign in with Apple. Great! Tap it and go. Getting ready to check out with my order when this app throws up a pop-up saying they noticed I’m using Sign In with Apple, and how sometimes those forwarded emails don’t go through (eye roll), and demanding I hand over my actual email address. Instead of offering an, “I’m an adult, I’ll take my chances” button, they just force you to give an email or, I guess, you can back out and just not eat. It’s winter here, my family is hungry, so I gave them my email. Felt totally scammed. Can’t wait to see who they’re going to sell it to! ### 1/5 — Does not work *2020-10-04, version 0.9.8* Submitted our order and the truck did not receive it. Does not update properly. Have to kill it then reopen it. ### 1/5 — They really want notifications turned on... *2020-08-01, version 0.9.4* App notifies incessantly if you don't have notifications turned on. Even when you acknowledge that you want notifications turned off the app brings you to the app-specific settings screen to approve turning on notifications again and again.
