### 4/5 — A few good features

*2026-07-26, version 1.21*

I got this app because of one key feature. I discovered it has more related ones.
It is great, especially since it is free and doesn’t invade your privacy.
I really like the mirror and zoom facilities on BOTH front and rear cameras.
Taking a selfie works Ok. It comes into its own when using zoom for the selfie. This is really helpful, say for checking medical things around your own face.
With the rear camera having greater resolution, having a mirror option there can be very useful for taking detailed close ups when using a mirror. Having the mirror option makes controlling the phone when using a real mirror as well is helpful.
I see mention of video. I haven’t managed to access that, if that combines with zoom and mirror on both cameras, that would be great.
I use an iphone 16e. Will explore iPad.

### 4/5 — Lacks two things

*2024-07-20*

Lacks timer & button to take photo should be centered to make easier to snap photos for every occasion! It’s very difficult to take a selfie for example with “one hand” when the button is extremely hard to reach corner.

### 4/5 — There is a bug in mirror mode on iOS 17.4

*2024-03-09*

In iOS 17.4, there is a bug that flips up and down in mirror mode instead of left and right.

### 3/5 — Freezing on an iPhone 14 Pro

*2023-09-08, version 1.19.1*

Installed the app and was using the camera through my HDMI port to my TV but every so often randomly it would freeze, sometimes and 30 seconds and other times in 30 minutes it was never consistent.
Please resolve that one issue and it will be perfect, thank you

### 4/5 — Cool

*2023-04-06, version 1.19.1*

Can you put timer and also a video please.

### 4/5 — Wish you could take a photo with volume button

*2023-01-01, version 1.19.1*

I love this camera app but it can be so cumbersome to have to press the screen to take a picture if you are holding your phone away from you! Adding an option to use the volume button to take a picture like the iPhone does would be great!!

### 4/5 — Does what Apple should have

*2022-12-26, version 1.19*

The only reason I did not give this app five stars is that it does not record video, or work in landscape mode. However, it takes much more accurate selfies with the front camera by allowing you to see exactly how it will come out rather than flipping it after the fact or mirroring you in the final picture. I use this almost exclusively for selfies. I just wish they would consider adding the video and landscape mode features

### 4/5 — Landscape No Longer Working?

*2022-10-18, version 1.11*

Great app, but doesn’t seem to be registering in landscape anymore. Advise?

### 2/5 — Broken on iOS 16

*2022-09-16, version 1.10.3*

Landscape mode no longer works correctly on iOS 16, cuts off most of the image

### 4/5 — Neat app, but would like vertical flip also

*2022-01-14, version 1.10.3*

I was looking for an app that would allow me to view my upside-down water meter. I was hopeful this app would do it, but it doesn’t because it only flips horizontally. Please consider adding an option to flip vertical also.

### 4/5 — あ

*2022-01-10*

他人から見られている自分の顔を知りたくてこのアプリを入れましたが現実を見ることができてよかったです。

### 4/5 — Flip the cam with a tap

*2021-11-17, version 1.10.3*

Nice app! I use this to apply makeup symmetrically on my not-so-symmetrical face. In practice this can get frustrating, so I’m sending feedback hoping for a few more features that would get five stars from me. One easy idea: add an optional line down the middle so we can see if we’re aligned correctly. Another way to do this: transparently overlay both mirrored images so we can see in real-time how everything lines up when flipped. Maybe draw each side slightly shaded in two different colors so we can tell which one is which. Right now, how I use this app involves tapping the mirror button on and off, which gets frustrating when the button disappears. A strobe feature with a timing slider (flip every half second, one second, etc.) would be AWESOME. Then I could just set myself up and not move!!! Great job on the app so far, and I wouldn’t be requesting this unless I thought the coder was this capable (from looking at their other apps). Thanks for everything!

### 3/5 — iPhone 12 Pro - uses only zoom lens

*2021-03-13, version 1.10.3*

Why the idiot developer use telephoto lens and not the regular lens for iPhone 12 Pro? I can’t change the different lens on the iPhone 12 Pro. Gave 3 stars since the idiot monkey developer had a good idea to make such app.

### 4/5 — Exactly what I was looking for!

*2021-03-11*

Was trying to screen record from my macbook without having those ugly controls from the regular photo app. This dies a perfect job!

I will give a 5th star once you implement an option to switch to wide angle lense

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Lacks two things

*2024-07-23, version 1.21*

I will update review IF a camera “timer@✅is added, and the capture button moved to center for EASY one-hand selfie operation cause it’s incredibly difficult with odd/awkward button placement (capture pic button)

### 1/5 — なにこれ

*2023-05-24*

現実を知ることができましたありがとうございます

### 1/5 — Annoying shutter button

*2022-07-24, version 1.10.3*

I wish it was easier to click the photo taking button? I want to take faster pics and it’s so slow and in an awkward spot. Can you not just put a button in the middle like Snapchat… and show us previews of the photo as it saves into our camera roll

### 1/5 — This is not the app

*2021-11-01, version 1.10.3*

This app makes u look like u fatter then how u see your self in the camera. So in other words it does not show what u look like. See, if u look at your self in the mirror you might not see what I actually look like but it doesn’t add weight like this app.

### 1/5 — fake

*2021-04-22, version 1.10.3*

fake

### 1/5 — Not even one star

*2021-04-14, version 1.10.3*

Do NOT download this app. It’s fake and a created image by the phone. it takes everything and reverses it and is not a true image. Anything created by technology is not a true image. This app made me think about jumping off a cliff. Please don’t download for your own sake.

### 1/5 — Connect problem

*2020-11-01*

I can’t connect with my windows laptop for obs

### 1/5 — Photo doesn't work

*2017-01-09, version 1.9.3*

Useless. Can't take photos with this app. Button greyed out and doesn't work

### 1/5 — what's the point ?

*2016-12-29*

Can't save flipped image...

### 1/5 — Can't take videos is a lie

*2016-07-15, version 1.9.3*

Will change if I'm able to take videos there's no way

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Useful tool for artists!

*2025-04-19, version 1.21*

Works exactly as advertised! It’s a fairly simple, but well-executed app.

If you’re looking for some advanced photography app that clearly isn’t what this app is intended for. This app is designed to let you quickly view a flipped image and it does so very efficiently. Not everyone may have a specific need for this sort of thing, but for those of us who do, it’s a fantastic choice.

I find it extremely useful as an artist. Normally when I need to quickly check proportions by flipping a non-digital sketch, it requires me to: open the camera app, take a photo, open the photos app, click the edit button, flip the image, and then when I’m done: hit cancel or done, and delete the photo so it doesn’t clutter up my photos app.

True Visage reduces those SEVEN steps down to ONE (since I don’t have to save the image to flip it), seriously streamlining the process, which means fewer interruptions and more time to actually draw.

I also really appreciate that it saves my previously used settings. When I first loaded the app, it was set to the face camera. But after I switched to the rear camera and hit the flip button, it now loads with those settings already selected so it’s all ready to go!

I can’t think of anything that NEEDS improving (at least for my own use case), but I do second the suggestion someone else made to add a vertical flip option in the future! I can definitely see that being a useful addition.

Overall, this app really deserves a 5 star rating. It’s FREE - no in-app purchases, no subscriptions (at least currently), doesn’t seem to collect any personal data (unlike many free apps), and it works exactly as intended. I very much appreciate the developer for making this useful little app available to us.

While I personally found the UI very intuitive, I got the impression from the reviews that some people were unsure how to access certain features so here are some tips:

 - For those who are having trouble figuring out how to switch to the rear camera, you need to press the little arrow ^ in the bottom left corner. That loads a list of options including the rear camera setting.

- For those who are complaining the image isn’t mirrored, make sure you’ve actually switched to mirror mode. It’s the icon in the lop left corner with the two faces divided by a dotted line. It looks a little like this (except the faces are solid white): {ˏ̢❩⋮❨ˎ̢}

### 5/5 — Upside down?!

*2024-07-31, version 1.21*

This app used to be helpful, but now the rear camera flips upside down instead of mirroring making it far less useful. There are no settings I can find to fix it.

UPDATE: Fixed the issue! Thanks!

### 5/5 — AWESOME APP!!😎

*2023-08-03, version 1.19.1*

Great app: easy to use, fast loading, no ads, accurate, and no lagging. My face is asymmetrical, so I look different in real life versus the mirror. This helps me put on flawless make up and makes my face more symmetrical.
I can’t ask for more 😃.
Thank you developer!!!🤩

なんか、思ったより、変わらなかったです。
けど、人から撮ってもらった、のと顔がこのアプリで全く違うのでびっくりしてます。さて、どちらが正しいのやら

### 5/5 — It’s helped me a lot

*2023-04-07, version 1.19.1*

Since painfully discovering that apps like Snapchat reverse your photos, I’ve been using True Visage to see what I really look like. Of course in real life you’re going to look a bit different since this is done on a phone BUT you can at least see how your features look normally. If it wasn’t for this app I wouldn’t have been able to correct my uneven eyebrows or part my hair in a flattering way.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2023-02-14, version 1.19.1*

This feature should be in every smartphone and tablet! It just works. Don’t believe any negative reviews. Most are cooks!

### 5/5 — Highly recommended!

*2022-08-05, version 1.10.3*

True visage is more accurate than the camera app itself. True visage let’s you see yourself more accurately. Although the camera app just distorts your face. So this app is the right thing for you!

### 5/5 — wonderful camera

*2022-07-13, version 1.10.3*

i use this app everyday, the camera shows what you really look like!

### 5/5 — 5star

*2022-04-26, version 1.10.3*

I use this app as a mirror and I’ve had it for almost 5 years lol

### 5/5 — Perfectttttttttt

Awesome complete app intelligently made
