### 5/5 — Apple should buy this

*2026-07-26*

Great app. Very helpful. I was puzzled when Apple’s estimate of my VO₂ Max started going down despite no changes in my training plan. It occurred to me that this coincided with a heat wave but it seemed inconceivable that Apple would not factor that in. Wrong. This app convinced me that I was not doing anything wrong and now that the weather has cleared up, Apple’s estimate is catching up. Thanks to the developer for saving me from changing something that has been working.

### 3/5 — Nice app but needs better sync!

*2026-07-19*

I love the app when it works, but I often have trouble with it not reading recent outdoor runs or walks where there is indeed a VO2Max score. I use the same tracking method, Apple Watch Series 11, iPhone 17 Pro Max, tracked with the Fitness app every single time. Currently it only shows runs through early last week when I have had 3 outdoor runs since then. There is no refresh button, all permissions are granted, no changes made.

**Developer response:** Hi Mark, thank you for the feedback! We just completely rebuilt workout syncing in our latest update to make importing runs and walks from Apple Health and the Fitness app faster and more reliable. If you still experience any issues, please email us directly at truevo2max@gmail.com and we will happily jump in to help!

### 1/5 — Not great

*2026-05-29*

The app doesn’t see indoor workouts even with a paid membership, it’s simple won’t take into account count your treadmill runs. This app should be free until everything is fixed and works as advertised.

**Developer response:** Hi there, thank you for your feedback, and I am very sorry for the frustration. I want to sort this out as soon as possible for you. To track your treadmill runs correctly, please ensure the True VO2 Max app is installed directly on your Apple Watch. You will need to use our watch app to record your treadmill sessions instead of the native Apple Fitness app. If you are already doing this and it still is not working, please email us at truevo2max@gmail.com. To help us troubleshoot, please include your iPhone and Apple Watch models, along with screenshots of the Indoor Settings tab from the True VO2 Max app on your phone. We want to get this fixed for you right away.

### 5/5 — Love the app!

*2026-04-17*

It’s amazing that it factors in elevation and temperature during the run. Easy to use and set up!

### 3/5 — Wanted to love it, but …

*2026-03-27*

03.27 update: Psst! Fahrenheit vs Celsius option, please //

Original: … too rudimentary.
(1) Out on a run; aborted 5 minutes in. Deleted it from Health; that deletion flowed thru to all but this & 1 other app. (2) That other app has the standard delete feature, so I could remove the related data point. This app does not. (3) No *list* presenting the *dated* VO2Max readings. Instead, a chart, so you’re forced to play Tap City (tap dot to get specifics), repeatedly, to pull that history. //

Thankfully, I chose the monthly sub so I could inspect the entirety of the app. Result: canceled about 9 days in. Dev, great idea! Respectfully, you’ve missed too many basics. Please → tweak, polish, and indulge user testing. Then, you’d OWN the VO2Max space! (Still) Rooting for ya

**Developer response:** Thank you for the thoughtful and candid feedback. You were absolutely right that these were important basics, and I took them seriously. In the latest update, we’ve addressed the issues you mentioned by adding session deletion, a dated list view of runs and VO₂ Max readings, and improvements to data handling and overall usability. We’ve also introduced several new features, including Indoor Treadmill VO₂ Max tracking, expanded chart views, and other quality-of-life improvements. We really appreciate you taking the time to share such constructive feedback, it helped us make the app better.

### 1/5 — Not sure what this does

*2026-01-11*

I’d love to try it, the concept sounds great. However…it doesn’t pull any data whatsoever. I’ve uninstalled, reinstalled, quadruple checked permissions. It simply doesn’t work.

**Developer response:** I’m sorry it didn’t work for you. Please note that True VO2 Max only pulls outdoor runs recorded after the app is installed, and it initially relies on Apple Health’s Cardio Fitness (VO₂ max) value for each run. If Apple Health didn’t record VO₂ for that workout, there’s nothing for the app to normalize and display.

Please confirm VO₂ exists in Health → Cardio Fitness → Show All Data at the time of your run. If it’s missing, updating to the latest watchOS commonly resolves the Apple Watch→Health VO₂ sync issue. Then do a new outdoor run long enough for a VO₂ estimate (e.g 10 mins), and verify Health → Cardio Fitness → Data Sources & Access has the True VO2 Max app enabled to read data and your Watch listed as a data source. If you’d like, email truevo2max@gmail.com and I’ll troubleshoot with you.

This update introduces one of the biggest expansions yet to True VO2 Max, with Atlas leading the way alongside major improvements to treadmill running, effort tracking, and post-run insights.

Introducing Atlas:

- Atlas is a new global training intelligence feature built to help you understand where, when, and how conditions affect performance. It gives every city a detailed Runability Score, showing how suitable the current environment is for training.

- Atlas also includes a Performance Wheel, breaking down the key factors that influence your run, including energy level, temperature, humidity, wind, and other major weather conditions. You can see the best times to exercise, compare conditions across cities, and explore how the global environment changes your training experience.

- With Atlas, you can explore cities around the world, understand which locations are best or worst for training, and learn why. Whether a city has ideal cool weather, high humidity, intense heat, or strong winds, Atlas helps turn environmental data into clear, useful training insight.

- Incline Support for Treadmill Runs:
treadmill runs now support incline, making indoor run tracking and VO2 max more accurate and complete.

- Redesigned Treadmill Run Interface:
the treadmill run experience has been redesigned to feel cleaner, clearer, and easier to use during a workout.

- Beautiful New Post-Run Summary:
the post-run summary has been refreshed with a polished new design, making your workout results easier to review and more motivating to look back on.
