### 3/5 — Questionable questions

*2023-06-20, version 1.8.10*

Training foe WSET level 2 and some of these questions are contrary to what’s in the book.

### 3/5 — Trop cher

*2022-02-25*

Tout est dans le titre.

### 4/5 — Nothing else like it!

*2020-12-09, version 1.7.3*

I haven’t been able to find any other wine apps of this quality. The user experience is really great and I really love how the new terminology is explained in each quiz. My only suggestions would be to improve the map and to add vocabulary. As I found sometimes it would be nice to review new terms.

### 5/5 — This App Deserves 10 Stars!

*2020-11-25, version 1.7.3*

This is by far the BEST app I’ve come across to learn wine—WOW. I am so impressed with the user interface and content. This is EXACTLY what I’ve been searching for. All the information is strategically placed in order to build your wine knowledge. I also found it extremely helpful that I could set my wine knowledge as I already know the basics. This app is phenomenal and I am recommending to everyone!

### 5/5 — Beautiful app, fun quizzes!

*2020-11-15, version 1.7.0*

As a total wine novice, I was a little worried that this app would be over my head. I learned a lot in just the first few minutes of using the app, and now feel more confident in choosing wines!

The app itself is really well designed and simple - one hell of a good app if you ask me. The map feature is very cool for exploring. Only caveat — it’s before noon and I want to drink wine!

### 5/5 — WOW!!!

*2020-11-07, version 1.7.0*

I’ve always had trouble pairing wines to meals when I’ve had guests over, but this app really helped me learn which kind of wine goes best with a steak vs fish! And it’s not like you need to memorize anything (unless you want to impress your friends at a restaurant, lol),and all this information is easy and super quick to access.

### 4/5 — Great App

*2020-10-18, version 1.6.8*

Really great app. The quizzes are exceptional.
Maps could use a little tweaking.

### 5/5 — Great wine education app!

*2020-09-20, version 1.6.2*

I’ve been looking for an all in one wine education app for a while. These guys are doing a great job and they keep adding new features.
It’s a great study compliment to the texts for the WSET courses. It would easily handle the Level 2 and Level 3 course depth.

### 5/5 — Exceptional App for someone interested in wine

*2020-08-23, version 1.5.0*

Over the past 3 years I have started to learn how to talk about and taste wine. I wish True Wine was available when I first started my journey.

Since finding True Wine it is the only resource I recommend to my friends and family interested in wine. Having spent hours pouring over documentation on the broader subject of Wine, it’s very clear that the developers have done the same - and they’ve come away with the most important and relevant topics for people to learn.

I highly recommend this app because, In two free quizzes you will learn what information related to wine is most valued in everyday life. These two quizzes provide you a basic understanding and if you want more, you can subscribe to True Wine and get full access to the ever-growing list of resources that relate entirely to understanding wine.

### 5/5 — Can’t recommend this app enough

*2020-03-09, version 1.1.64*

Borderline unbelievable how much useful information is packed into this app

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Just a scam

*2025-06-28, version 1.14.0*

The only free content is worse that browsing Wikipedia to learn about wine. Free content contains errors, over generalizations and incessant pop ups. Due to the horrendous quality of the free content, who would ever pay for premium content?

### 1/5 — Quiz is not great for people who want to have fun

*2024-10-10, version 1.9.6*

I think this app is great, but you can’t advance without passing a 2 minute quiz. I have a learning disability and this is really hard for me. So while I love the first module, I can’t get to any of the others. What a shame and really disappointed

### 1/5 — Charged for one year subscription. No free trial.

*2024-03-27, version 1.9.4*

It says there is a free trial, however, I was charged for a one year subscription. I immediately emailed to explain the situation and ask for a refund so I could try the app. I have received no response after waiting 4 weeks. I have tried the app now and the information for WSET level 2 and 3 is beyond the scope of those classes. It is nice having the chance to learn more, but it is not helpful having flashcards irrelevant to the exam in that pile.

### 1/5 — 全て英文

*2022-10-22*

使い方、解約の仕方がわからないです

### 1/5 — Monthly fee is far too much

*2020-02-25, version 1.1.35*

This app looks incredible, but a $4 monthly fee is far too much. Give me a flat fee of $20 or even $30 for a portable wine Atlas, and I’m in. But monthly fees are for services, not reference guides.

### 1/5 — Importer

*2020-02-14, version 1.1.28*

I submitted many new wines from Bulgaria several months ago and still donor see them on the site

### 2/5 — Too slow…

*2023-09-20, version 1.9.2*

Too little information takes too long to reveal itself…
The excess button clicking, similar to the language apps, is quite annoying.
The timed tests are a nuisance. They disappeared when I sub’d, but resurfaced in the champagne section despite the sub. I ended up just buying the Wine Bible on kindle. Reading a thousand page book must be faster than clicking buttons and retaking timed-out tests (maybe I am slow!). It certainly contains more info.

### 2/5 — Glitch in 2nd lesson

*2022-03-07, version 1.8.7*

Your “Sweetness” lesson has a glitch in the “match” section

### 3/5 — Informative but room to grow

*2025-05-11, version 1.14.0*

Awesome app for learning the impact of wine making, regions, and style! Considering the membership price, there is definitely room to grow on some key regions (eg USA with Napa, Sonoma, Willamette, Walla Walla, Finger Lakes), central and southern Italy (Chianti), Germany, New Zealand, Portugal! Can’t wait for more lessons to be added

One bug - in profile under certifications; none of the “region” badges register so it’s impossible to move beyond “Level 1”

### 3/5 — Good

*2023-11-19, version 1.9.3*

Great info and presentation of material. Unfortunately, it’s buggy, it asks to log in and then says I am already logged in. Unable to reset password.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great for beginners & seasoned professionals!

*2025-02-24, version 1.13.0*

I’ve been using and loving this app for a while now, so I figured it was time to leave a review!

Wine has always been my go-to drink, but I used to stick to familiar brands and regions since I didn’t know much beyond that. True Wine has increased my knowledge and also (unexpected) boosted my confidence! Thanks to the app’s easy-to-follow lessons, I can now describe the wine profiles I enjoy and chat with the waiter to find a wine I would like!

I’ve even started showing True Wine to wine professionals I meet, and they love the concept.

My favorite feature is the region map for all the wines. I’m a visual learner and it’s fun to show the table where the wine comes from & fun facts about the region.

### 5/5 — Hands down the best wine learning app

*2024-11-05, version 1.9.8*

Having tried a few different apps to help study for my WSET exam, this is without a doubt the best one. The quality and depth of the content, along with the UI are great! Really love the interactive regions map - such an awesome feature!
Had a small bug with one of the courses, got in touch with the team and they pushed a fix within a day.
I think it’s well worth the money upgrading to premium, I do think more people would be encouraged if there was a monthly option.

Overall well deserving of 5* and if anyone is interested in learning about wine in a casual way, or more seriously for something like WSET then this is the app!

### 5/5 — Noice

*2022-12-08, version 1.8.10*

Me encanta!!!

### 5/5 — Wine Lover, Love this App

*2022-05-22, version 1.8.10*

I love learning about wine! Love this app!

### 5/5 — Like Duolingo, but for wine

*2022-05-11, version 1.8.10*

I’m studying for my level 1 sommelier certification and this app is very easy to use and the information is presented in a way that it’s very easy to absorb.

I showed the app to a level 3 sommelier and he told me he wished he had it when he first started studying for his level 1 certification.

### 5/5 — Journey Begins

*2021-11-18*

After years of passive intermittent wine glasses and starting to delve further, this course is like a map’s legend on your journey into enjoying and understanding wines.

### 5/5 — Good but needs more content

*2021-09-21, version 1.8.0*

Great app to learn!! I wish they had more content. There is nothing on Spain, Argentina, Chile, California, etc.

### 5/5 — Dig it

*2021-09-19, version 1.8.0*

Digging this app so far. Certainly didn’t know the first thing about reading a German label, but now have the fundamentals under my belt. As fun as playing a game and seriously educational at the same time.

### 5/5 — Education

*2021-08-30, version 1.8.0*

This app is amazing for learning on the phone. Thank you.

### 5/5 — Learned a lot!

*2021-08-18, version 1.8.0*

Dope app if you wanna learn wine.
