## What is TrueRule?

Add 12' 4-1/2" to 3' 9-3/4" and get 16' 2-1/4". No converting to decimals, no converting back, no place to drop a sixteenth.

TrueRule is a feet-inch-fraction calculator for people who cut material. It works the way the calculator on your belt works, with real Feet and Inch keys, and it does the arithmetic in exact fractions so a hundred operations in a row never drift.

WHAT IT DOES

Feet, inches and fractions. Add, subtract, multiply, divide. Parentheses, so you can write the whole calculation the way you think it. Precision from 1/2 down to 1/32, and when a number cannot be written at your precision it says so instead of rounding in silence.

Every result in five units at once. Feet-inches, decimal feet, decimal inches, millimetres, metres. Tap one and the display changes; the measurement does not.

The tape remembers. Every calculation is saved under a job, with the expression that produced it. Label a line, tap it to bring it back, email the whole job as a PDF or a CSV.

Eight trade calculators. Stairs: rise, run, riser height, tread depth, stringer, angle, and a warning when a riser is taller than the IRC limit, cited on screen. Roof: pitch, common rafter, hip and valley, plumb and seat cut. Concrete in cubic yards and bags. Tile, drywall, paint, lumber and board feet, area of any shape.

Every key is at least 60 points across, so it works with gloves on. There is a left-hand layout. It works with no signal at all, because nothing in it touches a network.

Sharper exports, and a band that was hiding on iPad.

• The tape band is back on iPad in portrait. A nine-point layout error was squeezing it off the screen on the 11-inch and 13-inch models.
• PDF and CSV exports now print every line at the precision you have set, not the precision the line was entered at.
• The PDF preview is drawn at full resolution, so the sheet is sharp on every screen instead of blurred.
• The stair note now cites the right rule when 2R+T falls outside 24-25 inches.
• Fixed a Save button that broke its label mid-word in French.
