Problem is on the iPhone it’s asking me to set up another account. I just want to use the 1 account that’s on my Mac and have it available on iPhone and iPad? On iPhone, it will let you know that you already have Encryption setup. It will ask you to Recover Trustful Account. Tap on it & now Scan Trustful QR Code from the Trustful Emergency Kit on your Mac or Enter Secret Key manually& it will recover your Encryption on iPhone & it should be ready to sync across your devices. Having the ability to have my pictures stored on iCloud encrypted is fantastic. Everything deserves privacy. I did have an issue with some old Blackberry pictures which would crash the app when reading the exif data but the developer emailed me back within hours and replicated the issue and has fixed it. It’s just a good app that does what it says ### 5/5 — Finally a decent photo vault app! *2021-09-17, version 1.1.9* I went through dozens of photo vault apps trying to find one that suits my needs: * Good security, not just a PIN (a PIN can be brute forced in seconds if someone extracted the data) * No requirement for an email address (I find this suspicious in some other apps) * Support for HEIC and Live Photo's rather than being separated / stripped / turned into PNG as other vault apps do * Share Sheet support so that I can send images directly to it without having to go via the Apple photo library * Face ID support * Efficient UI / thumbnail display * Reasonable pricing (I don't want to pay the equivalent of a Netflix subscription just to keep some photos private) Everything else I tried had flaws. The most popular vault app has a FaceID bug (unlocks on exit!!) and hasn't been updated for a year. Another promising one requires you to type in your password every time you use the share sheet, which is a no go. Others I tried had suspicious sounding cloud backup systems or required an email address (why?). Many of them didn't support HEIC properly. Trustful is the first one I've seen which actually meets all my needs. It even allows share from safari which not many do. I only found it by accident (on Reddit I think) and I hope it soon gets the visibility it deserves on the store as it's leaps and bounds better than the popular/more visible vault apps. The developer is highly responsive as well, takes on board any suggestions you have and helpfully explains any concerns. For instance when you add from the share sheet, in case you're wondering, it goes to a temporary database and is imported and encrypted when you open the app. I find this a good compromise vs. The cacti vault approach of requiring your encryption password every time. Looking forward to JPG export so you can send to Discord (which doesn't support HEIC) but in the meantime you can use the Shortcuts app to create a "man in the middle" JPG conversion. ### 4/5 — Great Privacy, Nice UI- Bad Payment Model. *2021-04-12* I’m glad to see an app created with pure privacy in mind. Other vaults are not safe and are very intrusive. I am a bit concerned that the app claims encryption yet is behind the paywall. It’s not stated clearly enough the free app is not encrypted. Additionally, everyone wants to jump on the monthly a yearly bandwagon to make every digital platform a SaaS which is wrong. So many consumers are tired of it. I miss the days when I could pay $10-20 and get it out of the way. I understand as a small private developer myself how difficult it is to find sustainable income. I get your reasoning behind it. I would copy the package and create a PRO app and charge maybe $20-30 dollars for an added option. Alternatively you could add another payment option to the main app for a lifetime payment of X dollars. I’ll be sure to purchase when that becomes available. I really recommend this app to every iPhone user because this is the only app you need to manage your photos and videos 👍 ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — No way to view filenames *2024-03-14* No way to view video or image filenames. This is critical when you have multiple videos without images in the first frame. Basically, you just see a black box with a play button, but you have no way to know what video it is unless you click on it. And for videos, it can take time to decrypt due to which it can interrupt slideshow in between & make it pause. So Trustful does not have slideshow till now. In my experience is very rare for an app like this to have no ads and be mostly free, so that is a big bonus. However there is a premium upgrade. Many of the features in the description of the app are hidden behind this payment, like encryption, but nowhere in the description does it say this, so you won’t know until you try to enable it in the app. The app has a bit of clunkiness and inconveniences that make me hesitant to use it: You can’t manually rearrange the order of photo albums. Subfolders can’t be easily created in an album (first you have to create a “collection” on a separate tab and then add albums to the collection). You can’t add an album to an album or a collection to a collection, so there is a 1 sub-folder depth limit Photos cannot be imported directly to an album (they must first be imported to the app, then added to an album separately). There is a photo import limit (9 photos at a time without premium) but the app doesn’t tell you there is a limit until after you select the photos and press “import”. When selecting photos to import you cannot swipe to quickly select multiple photos (you must tap one photo at a time) The app certainly has promise and with some improvements could be one of the better options for photo management. I have learned more about the app and the developer. I raise it to 4-Stars. My initial rating was premature. I still have concerns about the manner in which the app functions, but I am becoming more confident that some of my initial concerns are either addressed outright or through some workarounds. More thought and exploration has been given to this than the simple UI belies. In fact, it’s the simplicity of the app that caused my greatest concerns. Although still not as intuitive as I would like, I am finding it more robust than belies some more feature-rich app. I questions myself, as a certified database designer, what has app tech done to me? Much more thought out than I expressed in my initial review. Keep up the good work! ### 5/5 — Just what I was looking for *2022-11-29* I've been looking for an app that did exactly what this one does for a while. Every other app I've tried (about 30 different apps) all either have a third party 'encrypted drive' that you just have to trust actually does what it says, or they have a pricing model that doesn't match what they offer. ($9.99 - $19.99 a month!?) This app conquers both of those needs. It can protect the photos with zero-access encryption, and uses your own iCloud to sync everything between your devices. It also has a very reasonable pricing model, and the developer was able to help when an issue arose. When my subscription wouldn't sync to my Mac (after purchasing on my phone), I emailed the developer, and he responded within a few hours before pushing a TestFlight fix for my issue. The price is super reasonable One thing I’d like added is the ability to add a photo directly to an album.
